Setup ephemeral password for TURN, Learn RTC in less than 200 Lines of codeAmitesh Madhur
TURN is used for relaying data from source to target. TURN consumes bandwidh and it is expensive.
Therefore there is a need for authorizing the TURN connection. However given that the connection is made from a client using javascript, use of a static username/password can be easily compromised.
Ephemeral password comes to the rescue here.
Learn WebRTC in 200 Line of code:
You will need a lot of patience going through libraries that are present today simply because they have thousands of line of code. So I will highly encourage you all to refer the source code located here: github.com/amiteshawa/learn-rtc
The Open Library, Public Domain Wiki, and other Realized Myths of Creative Co...Jon Phillips
Five years ago the actual implementation of an accessible worldwide digital library or archive existed in the land of fairytales. With the rise of Free and Open culture, decreased hardware costs, and cheap Internet access in some countries of the world, the ability to actualize these myths on a grand scale on the Internet became possible. Still however, the legal hurdles randomly scattered by copyright in jurisdictions around the world erected a major barricade for accessing knowledge. Copyright law generally has increased confusion around how creative works may be used. With the introduction of Creative Commons in 2003, these issues were addressed with clearly explained copyright licenses, a clear public domain dedication, and a brilliant international community consisting of 46+ International jurisdictions supporting the commons.
This presentation surveys the major digital archiving initiatives,
museums, and digital libraries around the world which use Creative Commons licenses. It also presents Creative Commons involvement with the Open Library (http://demo.openlibrary.org) to create a site where books and other media are edited collaboratively wiki-style by people around the world to help determine the copyright status of these works. The myths of lore are to be debunked.

Surviving Partial Failure in a Microservices JungleJon Moore
Comcast’s TV products serve tens of millions of customers and are powered by a suite of dozens of services that are continuously developed and operated by hundreds of technical staff. While we have enjoyed many of the touted benefits of a microservice architecture—looser coupling between teams, independent deployments—we have also encountered the corresponding challenges. In particular, we’ve learned that operating a platform composed of this many services in a reliable fashion is fraught with peril. Delivering business value can seem like hacking your way through the wilderness at times.
In this talk, we’ll start by briefly reviewing some “ancient” (20 years old!) literature: partial failures make distributed systems fundamentally different. When an application can have some parts fail while other parts continue working, it can be difficult to reason about overall correctness. After learning about different types of partial failures, the audience will have an intuitive understanding of these fundamental hazards.
For the main portion of the talk, we’ll go over three main strategies for surviving in a jungle of partial failures:
1. using idempotent service interfaces;
2. placing service boundaries between optional or less-critical functionality; and
3. recombining services.
Each survival tip will be explained through a concrete example, or “adventure story”, from our experience. By the end of the talk, attendees will be familiar with the pitfalls of partial failures—the main technical weakness of a microservice architecture—but will also be armed with techniques to successfully avoid them.

Blockcerts: The Open Standard for Blockchain CredentialsSSIMeetup
https://ssimeetup.org/blockcerts-open-standard-blockchain-credentials-daniel-paramo-anthony-ronning-webinar-39/
Anthony Ronning, an engineer behind Blockcerts and backend dev at Learning Machine and Daniel Paramo, co-founder of swys and advisor at Xertify, explains how Blockcerts started, deep dive on how Blockcerts work, which institutions are implementing this solution and what companies have made a solution for the adoption of this standard. We will review the current Blockcerts roadmap and their pros and cons. What considerations do we need to take when developing a solution around Blockcerts?
Blockcerts is an open standard for creating, issuing, viewing, and verifying blockchain-based certificates. These digital records are registered on a blockchain, cryptographically signed, tamper-proof, and shareable. The goal is to enable a wave of innovation that gives individuals the capacity to possess and share their own official records.
The initial design was based on prototypes developed at the MIT Media Lab and by Learning Machine. The goal of this community is to create technical resources that other developers can utilize in their own projects. Rather than independently developing custom implementations.
Blockcerts consists of open-source libraries, tools, and mobile apps enabling a decentralized, standards-based, recipient-centric ecosystem, enabling trustless verification through blockchain technologies.
Blockcerts uses and encourages consolidation on open standards. Blockcerts is committed to self-sovereign identity of all participants, and enabling recipient control of their claims through easy-to-use tools such as the certificate wallet (mobile app). Blockcerts is also committed to availability of credentials, without single points of failure.
These open-source repos may be utilized by other research projects and commercial developers. It contains components for creating, issuing, viewing, and verifying certificates across any blockchain.
Using the CC BY license, Workshop for 2013 OPEN Kick-offJane Park
Summary of session from OPEN Kickoff Conference for DOL TAACCCT Round 2 Grantees: This session will dive into detail about the CC BY licensing requirement and what it takes to apply the license to grantee materials. CC will go over the CC license chooser tool, examples of good license implementation, and content-sharing platforms where you can upload resources under the CC BY license. If enough time and interest, CC will also go over best practices for giving attribution to the creators of CC licensed works, especially as part of a larger resource, such as a textbook or course.

This ever increasing control is imposed on us in the name of the benefits of the creators, with the latest incarnation as the Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market. In 2020, the Ministry of Home Affairs established a committee led by Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, former Vice Chancellor of National Law University (NLU), Delhi. This committee was tasked with reviewing the three codes of criminal law. The primary objective of the committee was to propose comprehensive reforms to the country’s criminal laws in a manner that is both principled and effective.
The committee’s focus was on ensuring the safety and security of individuals, communities, and the nation as a whole. Throughout its deliberations, the committee aimed to uphold constitutional values such as justice, dignity, and the intrinsic value of each individual. Their goal was to recommend amendments to the criminal laws that align with these values and priorities.
Subsequently, in February, the committee successfully submitted its recommendations regarding amendments to the criminal law. These recommendations are intended to serve as a foundation for enhancing the current legal framework, promoting safety and security, and upholding the constitutional principles of justice, dignity, and the inherent worth of every individual.
