The World Top 20 Education Poll provides annual rankings of the top 20 education systems out of 209 nations based on 5 criteria: early childhood enrollment rates, elementary/middle/high school test scores, and college graduation rates. South Korea ranked #1 in 2016 with the highest scores in early childhood enrollment and elementary/middle school levels as well as high college graduation rates. Japan and Russia followed as #2 and #3, respectively. The report lists the top 20 countries, their scores on each criterion, and current head of government.

The percentage of students performing at or above the proficient level held steady at 37% for reading and 24% for mathematics. The results indicate that gaps are widening between lower- and higher-performing students.

School choice in Tel Aviv led to long-term gains in academic attainment and earnings. Specifically:
1) Treated students were 5 percentage points more likely to enroll in academic colleges and complete almost an additional quarter year of college schooling, reflecting a 15% increase.
2) Average annual earnings at age 30 increased by 5%.
3) There was no systematic effect on social outcomes like marriage and parenthood.
The study provides the first evidence that free school choice among public schools can have lasting impacts on post-secondary education and earnings well into adulthood.

- 1. 2017 WORLD’S TOP 20 EDUCATION POLL RANKINGS PREDICTIONS
- 2. The World Top 20 Poll is the monitoring arm of the World Top 20 Project. Whose mission is to ensure Every Child on the Planet has an opportunity to reach their full potential. The World Top 20 Poll measures the success of 209 nation’s education systems, towards educating students 3 to 25, four-times each year. The Poll measures early-childhood enrollment rates; test scores in math, science and reading for lower and upper primary students; and high school and college graduation rates. Each year, the Poll ranks 20 country’s it project’s will rank has the top 20 education systems for the close of the year (December 31). Followed by an International Survey of students, teachers, parents, educators, and local taxpayers (from May to July), for its second quarter ranking poll. In September, the poll uses the latest test scores and graduation rates to rank the top 20 countries, for its third quarter ranking poll. In December, it closes out the yearly top 20 ranking system, by contacting each nation’s education department to confirm the data it used in September is accurate.
- 3. The World Top 20 Poll will use five new indicators to make its projections for, which country’s education systems will finish as the 20 best in 2017. These indicators are: • The Number of Primary Age Students Out of School: 5 to 14. • The Number of Secondary Age Students Out of School: 15 to 18 • The Number of Students that Complete Primary School: 5 to 14 • The Teacher to Student Ratio for Primary School: 5 to 14 • The Teacher to Student Ratio for Secondary School: 15 to 18 Here are the Results:
