The World Diamond Council praised participants at the 2017 Kimberley Process Intersessional Meeting for their positive engagement on reforming the Kimberley Process. At the meeting and a concurrent Observers Forum, the WDC and others achieved consensus on proposals to strengthen internal controls, establish a conflict of interest policy, and create a permanent KP secretariat. A separate forum also discussed how African nations can maximize benefits from artisanal mining through compliance with social responsibility standards.
