This document provides an overview of library services available through the Miami-Dade Public Library System (MDPLS). It details that MDPLS has 50 branches, 1 bookmobile, and 1 techmobile. It promotes online tutoring services and lists subject areas covered. It also promotes the various digital resources available like ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, music and movies that can be accessed for free with a library card through services like Hoopla, Freegal, and Axis 360. Maker spaces and programming for all ages are described. Museum passes are also available through the library.
As the role of the library continues to shift and adapt to the needs of its users, it is important to understand what exactly those needs are. There are some common needs that libraries have traditionally met and for which their communities expect them to provide, such as free access to knowledge and books; however, the types of knowledge and books needed and the way they are accessed vary based on the community being served. I will introduce concepts of user-centered design and usability testing, which can be used to better understand our users and communities, as well as how implementing these concepts in my branch has helped cause a steady and consistent increase in usage for nearly every category of service we provide.
Effects of Parameters of Photonic Crystal Fibre on Dispersion and ConfinementIJAEMSJORNAL
A new design of hexagonal-lattice photonic crystal fiber, with solid core is proposed for study of dispersion and confinement loss for optical communication. The fiber has five air-hole rings, yet the diameter of air holes is different in their structures. In this work we observed the effect of varying d1 (diameter of inner two rings) keeping d2 constant, effect of varying d2 (diameter of outer three rings) keeping d1 constant and the variation of lattice constant Ʌ on dispersion and confinement loss, and it is found that the effect of varying d1 has a greater effect on dispersion in comparison with confinement loss and altering d2 has no significant effect on dispersion but have greater effect on confinement loss. Finite-difference time domain (FDTD) method is used for simulation.
Phishing is an attack that deals with social engineering system to illegally get and utilize another person's information for the benefit of authentic site for possess advantage (e.g. Take of client's secret word and Visa precise elements during online correspondence). It is influencing all the significant areas of industry step by step with a considerable measure of abuse of client qualifications. To secure clients against phishing, different hostile to phishing procedures have been suggested that takes after various methodologies like customer side and server side insurance. In this paper we have considered phishing in detail (counting assault process and grouping of phishing assault) and investigated a portion of the current sites to phishing strategies alongside their points of interest and disadvantages.
The Causality Relationship between Hnx Index and Stock Trading Volume in Hano...IJAEMSJORNAL
This paper examines the casual relations between the market return and trading volume for the Ha Noi Stock Exchange during the period from May 3th , 2013 to March 2rd, 2016. This paper uses Granger test and the results showed that the change of the volume of transactions that affect the change of HNX-Index. On the basis of this conclusion, we shall determine the degree of influence of the change in trading volume with HNX-Index by means of regression analysis.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
