Libya has a population of 6 million people, with 2 million living in Tripoli. The health care system has three levels: primary care through health units and centers, secondary care at general hospitals, and tertiary care at specialty hospitals. Primary care services include general medical care, pediatric care, minor surgery, rehabilitations, obstetric care, first aid, free medications, preventive services like vaccinations and screening, and health services for students. In 2010, Libya spent 3.13 billion Libyan dinars on health care, which was 3% of the country's overall budget.
