Tutkijoiden käyttämät datarepositoriot: MILDRED-projektin kyselytutkimus Hels...Anna Salmi
Esitelmä Informaatiotutkimuksen päivillä Tampereen yliopistossa 4.11.2016. Helsingin yliopiston tutkimusdatainfrastruktuurin kehittämishanke MILDRED toteutti kesällä 2016 esiselvityksen ja tutkijakyselyn Helsingin yliopiston tutkijoiden tutkimusdatan tallentamisesta ja säilyttämisestä digitaalisissa repositorioissa. Esiselvityksen ja kyselyn pohjalta toteutettiin jatkoselvitys tutkimusdatan metadatasta. Esitelmässä kuvaillaan selvityksen päälöydöksiä.
"Open source in the Finnish Ministry of Justice". Presentation in the Open Source and licensing seminar organized by the IPR University Center on 9 November 2011 in Helsinki. Presentation is in Finnish.
This document discusses research data management. It defines research data and explains that funders expect open publishing of research outputs, which requires data management planning. Good data management ensures integrity, reproducibility and is essential for excellent science. Key aspects of data management include documentation, metadata, sustainability through identifiers and repositories, and considering resources, quality, laws and publication. Services in Finland aim to support open science through metadata catalogues, research data storage and publishing platforms.
IDA is a secure storage service offered by the Ministry of Education and Culture to higher education institutions and Academy of Finland projects. It provides free storage of research data and metadata. IDA ensures security through user authentication, virus scanning, and data replication. Users can easily access and share data through different interfaces. Metadata must be provided to describe the data according to the national research data model. In the future, data in IDA can be transferred for long-term preservation as that system is developed.
AVAA is an open access data publishing platform that aims to enhance the accessibility of research data across different disciplines. It allows for an easy and automated way to share open data in a reusable format through its open source portal and web tools. The portal hosts applications for analyzing and visualizing atmospheric data from the SMEAR stations as well as spatial data services. Researchers can suggest their own data or applications to be published through AVAA, which follows open linked data principles.
Etsin is a research data finder that contains metadata descriptions of research datasets in Finland. The metadata describes important details about the datasets like authors, subjects, formats, and licenses. This enables users to search for and browse existing datasets. Etsin also provides information on how datasets can be accessed and used. Researchers and organizations can use Etsin to document and share their research data and find data from others through the search features. Etsin works independently of where data is stored and using it is free of charge.
Open Science and Research – Services for Research Data ManagementAvoinTiede
The document summarizes Finland's Open Science and Research Initiative from 2014-2017. It aims to make Finland a leader in open science by promoting availability of information and open research. It provides several services to help researchers implement open science practices like publishing open access, managing research data, and making data available. These services include research data finders, storage, publishing platforms, and publication archives. The goal is to increase benefits like funding, citations, collaboration and compliance with funder requirements.
Etsin is a research data finder service that forms a metadata catalogue for research datasets. It provides unique identifiers for datasets and enables researchers to gain merit based on their datasets. The service allows searching for datasets independent of their storage location by collecting metadata that increases discoverability and supports data access and reuse. Etsin is part of Finland's national Open Science and Research initiative and aims to foster openness in research.

IDA is a research data storage service for projects in Finnish universities, universities of applied sciences, and the Academy of Finland. It uses secure storage procedures with data replication and open source iRODS technology. Data owners decide on the openness and usage of their data, and IDA aims to be part of long-term data preservation. Universities manage quotas assigned by the Ministry of Education and Culture, and individual users get accounts through university approval.
