STC.UNM
University of New Mexico & New Mexico Angels Partnership
The University of New Mexico’s technology-transfer and economic development organization, STC.UNM, has built a unique relationship with the New Mexico Angels (NMA), a local group of private investors focused on investing in early stage companies. The partnership continues to generate critical funding for many of the University’s early stage technologies, and the startup companies spun out from them, and has fostered the creation of unique programs to increase funding levels. It has offered support for larger initiatives that are being built on the foundation of the commercial fruits of success that this relationship has generated. Available investment capital in New Mexico is a central component to commercializing UNM’s research. NMA has been a model for how other investors and investor groups can work with university tech-transfer organizations to commercialize university inventions. STC has also become an example of the many ways university technology-transfer organizations can work with angel investors to increase the number of new companies and improve their odds of success. The partnership has resulted in many outcomes including six new companies being launched, expanding an entrepreneurial culture among the university’s faculty and students, and educating investors on the amazing innovations created by university inventors.

The "Startup Visa" an Innovation in Immigration Policy for the Digital AgeNatalie Novick
States have long courted international entrepreneurs in an effort to attract investment and capital to their countries. However, existing immigration legislation is poorly equipped for evaluating today's digital companies. Startup visa policies were developed in an effort to meet the needs to tech founders who wish to bring their companies to new markets. However, they often remain ill-suited for digital startups, and the impact thus far has been limited. While these visa programs aim to lower the barriers of entry for today’s technical entrepreneurs, new innovations in the evaluation process have created additional hurdles that have impacted success. A growing private role in the evaluation of these visa applications has created a new and unique challenge for prospective entrants, while fundamentally changing the way that immigrant visas are granted.

Innovation loans briefing events open september 2019 slides to shareKTN
Innovate UK, the Knowledge Transfer Network and the Enterprise Europe Network hosted a briefing event for the second of two Open innovation loans competitions in the extension of the award-winning pilot programme, which is currently open for applications.
Innovate UK is extending its pilot programme of loan competitions. A total of £50 million has been committed to 70 borrowers in the initial pilot and a further £25 million is available for business innovation projects. This is the second competition in the pilot extension. Innovate UK is working to broaden the range of innovation finance support available to businesses, so they can access funding at all stages of innovation. Innovation loans are for UK small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that want to scale up and grow through innovation, developing new or improved products, processes or services. They can be used for late-stage research and development (R&D) projects, which have not yet reached the point of commercialisation.
Innovate UK is to offer up to £10 million in loans to SMEs for innovative late stage projects. The aim of this competition is to provide loans to help SMEs to undertake innovative projects with strong commercial potential across any sector or industry. Innovation loans will offer affordable, patient, flexible, repayable funding for later-stage research & development projects with a clear route to commercial success.
The deadline for applications in this competition is noon on 27th November 2019.
The purpose of the briefing event is to provide vital information to enable businesses to decide if an innovation loan is appropriate for them and, if so, to develop a clear and compelling application that shows that they have an innovative project and are suitable for a loan.

Creative ideas are all around us, all the time. Uncovering them is often a matter of how we’re looking at things and less of where we’re looking. of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).

Unveiling the Secrets How Does Generative AI Work.pdfSam H
At its core, generative artificial intelligence relies on the concept of generative models, which serve as engines that churn out entirely new data resembling their training data. It is like a sculptor who has studied so many forms found in nature and then uses this knowledge to create sculptures from his imagination that have never been seen before anywhere else. If taken to cyberspace, gans work almost the same way.
