6 STABILITRAK STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM
To keep you firmly in control, StabiliTrak is standard. It’s an engi-
neering advance designed to improve safety, stability and control
on most road surfaces. And that can mean a lot in an emergency
maneuver. Sensors read the position of your steering wheel, and the
vehicle speed, brake pressure, lateral acceleration and turning rate,
then feed the data to an onboard computer. If your Acadia is not
responding adequately to your steering input, the computer adjusts
the engine speed and the brake pressure to any individual wheel
to help you keep on track. With sensors that are programmed to pro-
actively predict and help counteract vehicle “tip-up” on a flat road
surface, StabiliTrak can even help to mitigate a rollover.
