4. Hypothesis
There are lots of amazing and mysterious places in
Russia.
The subject
The subject of the research is the interesting places in
Russia.
5. There is something interesting in every country. At the
English lessons we have read about Stonehenge in Great
Britain.
6. Stonehenge is probably the most important prehistoric
monument in the whole of Britain and has attracted
visitors from earliest times. It stands as a timeless
monument to the people who built it.
7. And what about Russia?
We read some publications on the topic, used the
resources of the Internet and found out that there are
a lot of mysterious places in Russia.
8. These mysterious stones Seven Strong Men are located
in the Komi Republic. They are about 30 to 42 metres
high and are more than 200 million years old.
9. Long , long ago, tall mountains stood in their place.
Centuries passed, and the mountains were gradually
destroyed by rain, wind, snow and heat.
10. Now they are strangely shaped and look like humans
from a distance.
11. According to the legend, these pillars were once giants
who were turned to stone.
12. One of the giants fell in love with a beautiful girl whose
father was the leader of a local tribe. The girl, however,
refused to marry him. She also made fun of him in front
of the tribe.
13. The giant was so angry that he decided to destroy the
village where the beauty lived. The next day he returned,
accompanied by his six brothers.
14. Luckily, the girl’s brother was a magician. When the
seven giants arrived at the village, he turned them
into seven stones.
15. It’s impossible to climb to the top
of these pillars because of their
strange shape.
16. It’s not easy to get to this amazing place. The
nearest road is at least 100 kilometres away.
So the best way to get there is by helicopter.
18. Lena’s Pillars, also called Lena’s Stone Forest, is a natural
rock formation located about 60 km from Yakutsk. It lies
in a part of Siberia that hasn’t been touched by human
activity.
19. Lena’s Stone Forest stretches for tens of kilometres
along the bank and has inspired travellers and poets
since the 17th century.
21. Lena’s Stone Forest is not only beautiful to look
at. It can be used as a scientific laboratory.
22. Long, long ago, during the Cambrian period, there was
a deep ocean in this place. Now many interesting fossils
of primitive life can be found in the rocks.
24. The only way to get to Lena’s Stone Forest is by boat.
25. Conclusion
To sum it up, Stonehenge was built by the people.
Seven Strong Men and Lena’s Stone Forest are natural
