Alcohol abuse and binge drinking not only damages an individual’s health, but also has consequences affecting those around them. Unfortunately, this is not enough to stop irresponsible drinking behavior, which can cause tragic accidents or painful diseases all around the world. It is important to know some facts about alcohol consumption, even if we consider ourselves only ‘casual drinkers’. One should be aware of what too much drinking means and where those limits are. In this presentation are listed 20 facts about alcohol consumption that we hope will increase awareness of the subject.

more slowly than men.

drowning accidents.

bloodstream, which is why it affects
every system in the body.

occur among drivers aged 21-24.

fatal collisions.

which in turn makes us more likely to
have an accident.

14. 13. Alcohol dilutes itself in the water
volume of the body. This is why vital
organs that contain a lot of water
(such as the brain) are particularly
vulnerable to the effects of alcohol.

15. 14. With a BAC (blood alcohol
content) level of .08 g/dL, it would
take approximately six hours after
drinking for the body to completely
eradicate alcohol from its system.

16. 15. A driver with a BAC of .08 g/dL is
11 times more likely to be in a fatal
accident than a driver who has
consumed no alcohol.

21. 20. To determine if a driver is under alcohol
influence, a police officer will typically choose
to use a breathalyzer. A breathalyzer is a
machine that estimates a driver’s blood
