1. HTML HyperText Markup Language; A standard language
used for creating and publishing documents on the
World Wide Web.
2. Address Bar A bar that contains the url of the webpage you are on.
3. Scoll Bar A bar that lets you scroll up/down and side to side
when the webpage doesn’t quite fit the computer
screen.
4. Menu Bar A horizontal menu that appears on top of a window.
5. Autocomplete A feature that automatically completes common
phrases and things like that.
6. E-Mail Regular mail except on the computer.
7. Web Browser Software program that is used to retrieve documents
from the WWW & display them in a readable format.
8. Search Engine A tool that lets you find web pages with specific
phrases or words.
9. Access Indicator A small picture in the upper right corner of a browser
that shows that the computer is accessing data.
10. Wildcard Search Using ‘ *’ in place of letters that you don’t know in a
phrase while searching.
11. TCP/IP Internet Protocol Suite: set of communications
protocols used for the WWW.
12. Boolean Search Searching a phrase consisting of logical operators such
as and, not, or.
13. Go Button The button you click to go to a specific page.
14. Multimedia Text, pictures, video, and other types of media.
15. Domain Name The part of the web address that identifies the site.
16. Mailing List A list of contacts’ addresses you email.
17. Browser Extensions Tools built into browsers to make them more efficient.
