1) The readings discuss higher spiritual values and putting away earthly desires.
2) Christians are called to seek what is above, think of heavenly things, and put to death parts of themselves that are worldly like immorality, impurity, and greed.
3) They are to put on the new self and renew themselves through knowledge of God, in whose image they are made. All distinctions between people disappear in Christ.

Dear sisters and brothers,
It is very easy to fall into temptations if we are craving for many things and if we have problems with our identity.
Fr. Cielo
Your perspective on the world and your life makes all the difference. Christians just simply have a different world view. They do not seek the desires of the flesh. They reject the desire to have more and more material possessions. And while all humans have a desire to be free, Christians are free indeed by the truth that Jesus spoke (John 8:32).

PRAYER,
Almighty and everlasting God,
you despise nothing you have made
and forgive the sins of all who are penitent.
Create and make in us new and contrite hearts,
that we, worthily lamenting our sins
and acknowledging our brokenness,
may obtain of you, the God of all mercy,
perfect remission and forgiveness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
Dear sisters and brothers,
Do you trust your God? Accumulating... and accumulating and setting aside so many things for the far distant future and yet you have no joy is a sign of distrust.
Fr. Cielo
Dear brothers and sisters,
Let us promote brotherhood/sisterhood in our families and communities. We are not called to rugged individualists. Good Christian families are the best transmitters of the Christian faith to the young. We pattern our relationships to that of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Take some cue from Saint Arnold and Saint Joseph.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Inheritance
13 Someone in the crowd said to Jesus,
“Teacher, tell my brother to share the
inheritance with me." 14 He replied to him,
"Friend, who appointed me as your judge
and arbitrator?"
Greed
15 Then he said to the crowd, "Take care to
guard against all greed, for though one may
be rich, one's life does not consist of
possessions."
Parable of the Rich Fool
16 Then he told them a parable. "There was
a rich man whose land produced a bountiful
harvest. 17 He asked himself, 'What shall I
do, for I do not have space to store my
harvest?' 18 And he said, 'This is what I
shall do: I shall tear down my barns and
build larger ones. There I shall store all my
grain and other goods 19 and I shall say to
myself, "Now as for you, you have so many
good things stored up for many years, rest,
eat, drink, be merry!" 20 But God said to
him, 'You fool, this night your life will be
demanded of you; and the things you have
prepared, to whom will they belong?' 21
Thus will it be for the one who stores up
treasure for himself but is not rich in what
matters to God."
