Flashback: August,
2016
  
August was a busy month for
Safe Communities. We were
able to partner with numerous
local National Night Outs and
also held the DSOGPO kickoff
event. August was a fantastic
month, full of impactful
campaigns.
We would like to thank
everyone who helped in the
making of our We Will Stop
You PSA. If you have not
already seen the final product,
visit the Butler County Safe
Communities FB page! Please
share the link as well!
As the 2016 fiscal year comes
to an end we look forward to
starting fresh again on
October 1st. Let’s make 2017
the best year yet! Thank you
for all of your support. We
look forward to our continued
partnership.
Introduction
Butler County Safe
Communities (BCSC)
Firstly, I would like to take a
moment to thank all law
enforcement officials and
other public safety
organizations for their
constant hard work and
dedication.
Traffic fatalities in Ohio are
down 6%. This is such great
news! Let’s keep it up.
Secondly, this next month will
fly by quickly for Safe
Communities. As the
2015/2016 Fiscal Year
comes to a close we look
forward and begin
planning for another year
of traffic safety campaigns.
We look forward to
working with all of you in
order to keep Butler
County roads safe!
Our next coalition meeting
and fatal crash review will
be held on October 13th at
9AM (location TBD).
What’s In Store…
September, 2016
Since September is the final
month of our fiscal year this
portion of the newsletter will
focus on the upcoming year.
We are in the midst of
wrapping up some final
campaigns. We are working
to be a part of the annual
Safety Days event that is put
on by Fairfield Twp. PD. It is
being held on Saturday,
September 17. We are also
working to partner with
AT&T and a Lakota East
teen who is interested in
reducing distracted
driving crashes among her
peers and her community
members. We love to see
young people getting
involved in our efforts.
We hope that with the
help of AT&T and their
simulator that we will be
able to spread the Stay
Butler County Safe Communities
Safety Council of SW Ohio 9/1/2016 Volume 11
Butler County Safe Communities Coalition
Alive-Don’t Text and Drive
and It Can Wait messages to
people of all ages across
Butler County.
Things like company branded
lanyards, buttons, pens,
notepads or any other small
giveaway items would be
very helpful as well! Safe
Communities is no longer
able to purchase goodies like
those listed, but they are great
at drawing people in to
booths like ours. If you have
any materials you’d like to
donate please email Katie at
katie@safetycouncilswohio.or
g as soon as possible.
Those of you who were at our
last coalition meeting know
that we talked about utilizing
ODOT’s GCAT (Geographical
Crash Analysis Tool) in order
to better understand the types
of crashes around our county
and put countermeasures into
place. Kristy and I have both
officially been training in
GCAT. The program is pretty
user friendly and if crash
analysis is something you are
interested in I would
encourage you to become
trained as well!
At our next coalition meeting
(10/13/16) we will use GCAT
charts to go over crash trends
from the beginning of 2016.
We hope that everyone can be
in attendance in order to set
some goals for the 2017 fiscal
year. We would like to begin
working more closely with the
local high schools and our
teen drivers. 2016 was a year
full of teen driving focused
campaigns but we feel there is
more that we can do. If you
have any connections with
local school districts please
email
Kristy@safetycouncilswohio.o
rg.
Thank you, everyone, for all
that you have done to support
Safe Communities this past
year. We couldn’t’ have done
it without you! We look
forward to 2017 and all that it
holds. Drive Safe, everyone!
“Prepare and prevent. Don’t repair and repent!”
