The Conservation Department of the Israel Antiquities Authority has been using a Drytronic device from Germany to successfully treat humidity problems at the Royal Chamber of Herodium in Israel. The Royal Chamber is part of a complex from the 1st century BCE adorned with paintings and stuccoes. Water penetration through the bedrock and surrounding walls was causing high moisture levels and deterioration of the paintings and plaster. After activating the Drytronic system, the moisture content in the walls decreased to an acceptable level, significantly reducing the deterioration rate of the paintings and plaster.
