Planting a salsa garden
Dan Cashman featured Touchmark’s green thumbs during his monthly KFYR TV segment as they
gathered to plant a summer salsa garden. Dan, who is the owner of Cashman Nursery, donated six large
tomato plants and enough herbs to fill the upright planters. See the feature online at http://www.kfyrtv.

Club member Marlene
shares her thoughts—and
some inspiration
“I have been working out
at health clubs and fitness
centers on and off for the last
25 years. I made the rounds
on all of the machines and
thought that was all there was
to it. Then, about nine years
ago, I retired and told myself
that I earned the right to stay
home in the morning and
leisurely drink coffee and read
the newspaper. But about six
weeks ago, it occurred to me
that I was not as fit as I had
been, and then I remembered
that Touchmark had a fitness
center that would probably
be geared to someone my
age. I called and set up an
appointment with one of the
club’s trainers.
“Grace showed me around
and also had me try out the
machines to know how they
functioned. We sat down and
visited a bit, and I thought
to myself, ‘I wonder if they
have personal trainers. Being
I had never used one before,
I thought maybe that would
help me reach the goals I had
in mind.
“Well, let me tell you, I worked
muscles I never knew I had.
A lot of the training was not
even done on machines. Now,
six weeks later and three times
a week at the club, I have lost
15 pounds and about eight
inches, and I feel great!
“If you have been telling
yourself, ‘At my age, I’m too
old to do this,’ Stop it! We are
never too old to improve our
fitness, balance, and well-
being. I did it, and I’m positive
you can, too.”
