Overview
• AHA Family & Friends CPR course
(F&F) was done for nurses and
care workers (N = 44)

• F&F improve learners attention and
self-confidence by pre and post
survey with questionnaire ( p <
0.01).
Background
• The AHA guideline of CPR is
revised in 2010, and new Family &
Friends CPR course (F&F) was
released in Japanese (2012)

• In Japan, there was no native
language course of F&F until the
release of 2010 version.
Objectives
• The objective of this study is to
survey the effectiveness

(change of attitude and selfconfidence) of F&F in Japan.
Methods
• F&F Course based on 2010 AHA
guideline was took place for nurses 

and care workers.

• The course was done only adult CPR.
• The pre and post survey was done by
questionnaire using 5 point likert scale.

Discussions
• Although the number of
participants was a little small, this
results show the effectiveness of
F&F course.

• Kirkpatrick s evaluation level 1

(Reaction) is achieved, and level 2
(Learning) is partly achieved.
Future Plans
• To add both self-evaluation and
evaluation by instructors for checking
skills of CPR

• To survey Kirkpatrick s evaluation
level 3 (Behavior) by using additional
questionnaires or interviews few
months after training
Conclusions
• The results suggests that F&F
course improve learners attention
to and self-confidence of CPR.

• This study will be a part of
research study about effectiveness
of F&F course in Asia.
