1. Sources of inspiration- is all around us, like
     newspapers or even casual conversations.
2. Then the idea goes to the producer, who can make
     the ‘great idea’ into reality.
3. Then the director get the script. The director know
how to make it look on screen, from the script.
4. The writer clarifies the idea and the plot and
characters to the director to make the film something
     amazing.
5. Then the director makes a treatment, which is a one
page story of the plot of the film.
6. The pitch has all the information the producers need
in order to make the film a success. the they also
     finish the script
1. The producer takes the treatment and the pitch to get
the money to make the film.
2. The producer goes to the production companies for
money and development. But they have lots of projects
   of their own all ready
3. Then the producer shows the future sale broadcasts
and right for the film in return for money to develop the
script. The producer can also go to public body for
grants, like The UK Film Council.
4. The producer can even pitch to private investors. In
   hope the support the script.
1. First the writer produces the synopsis, then the
producer agree or disagrees on key scenes or events in
   the film
2. Then the writer makes a step to out line the plan.
3. Part of the writer’s fee is conditional on the delivery of
the first draft. This is usually the hardest part of the
   screenwriting.
4. Once the writer and produce are happy. The draft is
sent off to the financiers. Who will have there own
   ideas.
5. When everyone is happy with the script, it is the lock off
and it becomes the final draft. Then the writer gets paid.
6. The final stage of the script development is the creation
1. Now the packaging begins, the producer and director now
make the script into a full commercial proposition for the
     financing
2. The cast, one of the best way to make the project more
commercial is to attach well know stars to the script.
3. Respected heads of department commercially successful
carry considerable clout with knowledgeable financiers
4. To make the film into business proposition , the producer
must now know how much it is going to cost to make.
5. The investors will now want to know how the producer plans
to raise the money, and how she plans to pay them back.
6. The now producer has to packaged the film into a viable
proposition. Now it’s time to see what people think .
1. The producer may have to travel around. To get a
investment he needs to make the film. The produce must
     travel a lot
2. Now the investor is found by the producer. The draw up
     contracts to seal the deals.
3. The producer can also raise money in other ways from ‘pre-
sales’ this is selling the right to the film before it has been
     made.
4. Then the producers need a loan form banks, there are
special finances departments in banks for film finance.
5. Most financiers insist that a completion bond is in place
before they agree to invest. This is insurance for the
     production.
6. Once all the big funding and insurance is done. The film gets
1. Once the have hired all the heads of department. The
shooting of the scrip is circulated and preproduction begins
     quickly
2. The casting director with director and producer begins the
long process of find and cast and actors.
3. Storyboards are the blueprints for the film, where every shot
is planned in advance by the director.
4. The production designer plans every part of the film and
aspect of how the film will look. He hires people to design
each part of a building or set.
5. Effect shot take much longer than normal shot, this can take
     mouths to build and design.
6. The 1st AD the line production and the production manager
make up all the big logistic triangle of the production
1. 1st day of principal photography, this is a key moment in the
film production and filming begins. Funding is used, the
production team breath a huge sigh of relief
2. The camera department is responsible for getting all the film
the director and edit need to tell the story
3. When the lighting, sound, hair and make-up has been
     checked, the shot can begin
4. In the smallest of all commotion. The actors must create an
emotional world and draw the audience into it.
5. All special effect are carefully constructed and must be film
with minimum risk of injury to anyone.
6. Film productions are all run with lots of precision if they fall
behind, the money from the financiers or insurers may
     choose to pull out
1. As the footage comes in. the editor assembles it all into
scenes and creates a narrative or sequence for the film
2. Once the picture is done. The sound department works on
the audio for the film and editing every sound.
3. Now digital effects are added by specialist effects
compositors, and titles and credit are added in a composition
     suite.
4. The final stage of picture editing is to adjust the colour and
finalise the aesthetic of the film
5. After the picture lock. The sound mix's goes to a dubbing
theatre, the sound get the final levels it needs.
6. Final cut, the film reaches full lock it is now finished and
ready for duplication, but who gets the final cut.
1. Selling the product to help her sell the product to the
distributors, the producer secures the services of a sales
     agent, in film sales.
2. The trailer is made to help sell the film to show busy film
buyers the best aspect of the film.
3. The producer and the sales agent get all the tape and
equipment they need to sell the film together, to the
     distributors
4. Taking the film to market, the market has a lot of films on it
already, so the producers must go to great length to get the
     attention for their product.
5. getting high profile screening at a top film festival can be a
great way to get everyone talking about the film., before it
     out in public
6. The producer now has a very talked about film and now it is
easy to negotiate good deal with the distributors around the
1. To help the producer sell the film to the distributors. The
producer hires the services of a sales agent, a specialist in
     film sales.
2. Getting to know the audience, the marketing team now runs
screening to find out which age groups the should aim at.
3. Now posters are made for the target audience and cinema
trailers. TV advert and other marketing ways
4. TV and radio adverts are all ways that you can get a positive
     word out about the film.
5. Also using the internet is a great way of marketing the film.
Using as many ways of advertising as possible is all ways
     better
6. In order to get the film to audience the distributor must
negotiate a deal with the cinemas to screen it.
1. A premiere is all ways to get a movie off to a good start
with all the press and public.
2. The UK has about 3500 cinema screens, although not
all are British owned, or show British films
3. The distributor prints the film more prints of the movie,
the more film shown in cinemas
4. The exhibitors take their share of the box office
receipts, after the distributors get their cost back from
   marketing
5. Once the distributors have been paid in full. The
financiers can recover their investments, as was agreed
   in the contract
1. Hospitality sales, you can sell the film to hotel movie
channels or in flight move, this can all bring in millions of
     additional revenue
2. UK audiences spend more on DVD than in the cinema. So
the success on the DVD can be a big part of the box office.
3. TV is the final place to get revenue , by selling the right of
the film to a pay-tv company who will show it for a sum of
     money
4. Selling the right to a game company can be a good source
     of revenue.
5. Once the film has made a profit. The producer and other key
people in the film can have their rewards for their work.
6. The final income of the film is never know. The movie could
make more money if it is re-released in the future.
