TCToolbox is a powerful, tried, tested and trusted SGML/XML Content Management System (CMS) designed by Ovidius
and focusing on technical documentation of all kinds. TCToolbox is user friendly and can easily be customized for different requirements allowing for a fast start and high productivity.

TCToolbox manages reusable
components (SGML/XML fragments, graphics, variables). An
intuitive drag-and-drop interface or external configuration
lists provided by a PPS system
can be used to assemble the
components to products. Specific publications can be generated based upon the products,
the language and the intended
output media.

Graphics are managed as separate objects in TCToolbox and can
be easily reused in the same way as SGML/ XML components.
The seamless incorporation of translation memory systems also
helps to streamline the translation process. In TCToolbox source
language, translations and even translation memories can be
managed.

TCToolbox, Across XMetaL
From TCToolbox 5.3 onwards crossTCT can be
integrated into TCToolbox. crossTCT runs as
service in the background and allows for close
integration of the translation memory system
Across. Now the translation process can be
triggered in TCToolbox and status changes can
be monitored. Once the translation has been
finished in across it is imported back into TCToolbox.
For further streamlining of the translation process Across offers the plugin crossAuthor for
XMetaL. crossAuthor enables ongoing interaction with the across database while creating
documentation in XMetaL.
The seamless integration allows for fast and efficient authoring and saves time and money.
Flexible publications
Information modules can be assembled manually using the Drag Drop interface or with a configuration list that searches the repository automatically. The assembled product is now ready to be published in different formats and languages and customer-specific modules (e.g. spare parts lists) can be inserted on the fly.
TCToolbox integrates with a wide range of publishing system, e.g. Microsoft Word, FrameMaker or InDesign for type setting solutions, XSLT for publishing and transformation processes and tools generating HTML and Java Help.

2. XML-Diffing with TCToolbox
The generic differ that is integrated into TCToolbox can be used for a wide range of tasks. By default the differ is used to
compare the current document revision with any previous revision and indicates differences in the preview window. Here
changes can be easily visualised, verified and corrected if required.
With the differ, however, it is not only possible to compare documents but also product snapshots. Snapshots are used to
record the state of a product at a specific moment during the
authoring process.
Variant management
TCToolbox allows for sophisticated variant management. Our
customers use variants to create up to one hundred machinespecific publications out of one user manual. Variants which are
not relevant for the respective manual are filtered out by the publishing process.

With TCToolbox users can not only edit single documents but
any section of the underlying XML tree regardless of whether the
section contains one or more (nested) documents or comprises
the entire product.
