Content as a Service: What to Know About Decoupled CMSPantheon
Learn:
-How decoupled architecture can help future-proof a website
-How decoupled architecture leverages a wider set of experts by clearly delineating front and back-end
-How to use modules and patterns to build decoupled websites using Drupal 7 and WordPress
-What to expect from both Drupal 8 and the upcoming WordPress JSON API
In this session, we will rethink the role of designers, the purpose of a CMS, and how we manage and consume content. We will discuss:
(1) The tension between a design and a CMS. Should your design be optimized for your CMS? Or should you modify your CMS to achieve your design? In other words, are you walking the dog, or is the dog walking you?
(2) "Headless" Drupal: Drupal as a backend with multiple frontends. Drupal's theming layer is difficult to master and expensive to upgrade between major releases. We will discuss how the frontend and backend can be decoupled to provide better experiences for users, developers, and designers alike.
(3) Content as a service. Decoupling isn't just about separating the frontend from the backend or making upgrades easier. In fact, the real power of headless Drupal is separating content from presentation, allowing you to connect any number of websites, channels, or devices to a single source of content through an API!
(4) TWiT.tv case study. We'll close by discussing how Four Kitchens work with This Week in Tech to relaunch TWiT.tv as a decoupled Drupal site with an exposed API allowing their fanbase to directly access content.

First Steps with Globus Compute Multi-User EndpointsGlobus
In this presentation we will share our experiences around getting started with the Globus Compute multi-user endpoint. Working with the Pharmacology group at the University of Auckland, we have previously written an application using Globus Compute that can offload computationally expensive steps in the researcher's workflows, which they wish to manage from their familiar Windows environments, onto the NeSI (New Zealand eScience Infrastructure) cluster. Some of the challenges we have encountered were that each researcher had to set up and manage their own single-user globus compute endpoint and that the workloads had varying resource requirements (CPUs, memory and wall time) between different runs. We hope that the multi-user endpoint will help to address these challenges and share an update on our progress here.

Providing Globus Services to Users of JASMIN for Environmental Data AnalysisGlobus
JASMIN is the UK’s high-performance data analysis platform for environmental science, operated by STFC on behalf of the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). In addition to its role in hosting the CEDA Archive (NERC’s long-term repository for climate, atmospheric science & Earth observation data in the UK), JASMIN provides a collaborative platform to a community of around 2,000 scientists in the UK and beyond, providing nearly 400 environmental science projects with working space, compute resources and tools to facilitate their work. High-performance data transfer into and out of JASMIN has always been a key feature, with many scientists bringing model outputs from supercomputers elsewhere in the UK, to analyse against observational or other model data in the CEDA Archive. A growing number of JASMIN users are now realising the benefits of using the Globus service to provide reliable and efficient data movement and other tasks in this and other contexts. Further use cases involve long-distance (intercontinental) transfers to and from JASMIN, and collecting results from a mobile atmospheric radar system, pushing data to JASMIN via a lightweight Globus deployment. We provide details of how Globus fits into our current infrastructure, our experience of the recent migration to GCSv5.4, and of our interest in developing use of the wider ecosystem of Globus services for the benefit of our user community.
Custom Healthcare Software for Managing Chronic Conditions and Remote Patient...Mind IT Systems
Healthcare providers often struggle with the complexities of chronic conditions and remote patient monitoring, as each patient requires personalized care and ongoing monitoring. How to Position Your Globus Data Portal for Success Ten Good PracticesGlobus
Science gateways allow science and engineering communities to access shared data, software, computing services, and instruments. Science gateways have gained a lot of traction in the last twenty years, as evidenced by projects such as the Science Gateways Community Institute (SGCI) and the Center of Excellence on Science Gateways (SGX3) in the US, The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) and its platforms in Australia, and the projects around Virtual Research Environments in Europe. A few mature frameworks have evolved with their different strengths and foci and have been taken up by a larger community such as the Globus Data Portal, Hubzero, Tapis, and Galaxy. However, even when gateways are built on successful frameworks, they continue to face the challenges of ongoing maintenance costs and how to meet the ever-expanding needs of the community they serve with enhanced features. It is not uncommon that gateways with compelling use cases are nonetheless unable to get past the prototype phase and become a full production service, or if they do, they don't survive more than a couple of years. While there is no guaranteed pathway to success, it seems likely that for any gateway there is a need for a strong community and/or solid funding streams to create and sustain its success. With over twenty years of examples to draw from, this presentation goes into detail for ten factors common to successful and enduring gateways that effectively serve as best practices for any new or developing gateway.
We describe the deployment and use of Globus Compute for remote computation. This content is aimed at researchers who wish to compute on remote resources using a unified programming interface, as well as system administrators who will deploy and operate Globus Compute services on their research computing infrastructure.

In software engineering, the right architecture is essential for robust, scalable platforms. Wix has undergone a pivotal shift from event sourcing to a CRUD-based model for its microservices. This talk will chart the course of this pivotal journey.
Event sourcing, which records state changes as immutable events, provided robust auditing and "time travel" debugging for Wix Stores' microservices. Despite its benefits, the complexity it introduced in state management slowed development. Wix responded by adopting a simpler, unified CRUD model. This talk will explore the challenges of event sourcing and the advantages of Wix's new "CRUD on steroids" approach, which streamlines API integration and domain event management while preserving data integrity and system resilience.
Participants will gain valuable insights into Wix's strategies for ensuring atomicity in database updates and event production, as well as caching, materialization, and performance optimization techniques within a distributed system.
Join us to discover how Wix has mastered the art of balancing simplicity and extensibility, and learn how the re-adoption of the modest CRUD has turbocharged their development velocity, resilience, and scalability in a high-growth environment.

1.
2. Introduction
• When the term, CMS comes to our mind, most of us will be tempted to
utter the common terms like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and Magento so
on. All these belong to the PHP category of CMS.
• If a curious person inquires us about some popular CMS that are powered
using Node.js, many of us, even developers may fail to answer.
• Like PHP, Node.js is getting established as a powerful back-end language,
hence it has been used for creating some useful CMS structures as well.
• Many of the CMS powered using PHP are fully developed, and some of the
Node.js CMS still remain as a stopped project in “Github”. Here we can
look into the features of some of the most popular Node.js CMS.
3. Ghost
• Ghost earns the fame of most popular Node.js CMS.
• It is made accessible in two versions; one for the users and the
other for developers.
• Ghost is open source and is marked as a valuable blogging platform.
• It provides developers with some brilliant marketplace themes for
running a favorable kickstarter campaign.
Official Website: https://ghost.org/
4. Keystone.JS
• An open source CMS built for developing database- driven websites so
rapidly.
• Before installing Keystone.js, developers will have to link the project with
MongoDB and Express.

data model.
• Admin interfaces will be automatically generated, and the system will
work very fast. The documentation of Keystone.JS is simple.
Official Website: http://keystonejs.com/
5. Calipso
• The idea of building Calipso is quite similar to the WordPress.
• Plugins of WordPress are so strong, and we cannot expect the same
from Calipso modules.
• It is simple and fast, but lacks activity and community support.
• Hence, most of the developers skip the usage of this project.
Official Website: http://calip.so/
6. Reaction Commerce
• Reaction Commerce is a Node.js project dedicated to the e
commerce industry.
• It makes use of CoffeScript, Meteor, and MongoDB.
• The script is designed for the purpose of “real-time merchandising”.
• The script is handy, but the codes are on the heavy side.
Official Website: http://reactioncommerce.com/
7. PencilBlue
• PencilBlue utilizes MangoDB, Bootstrap, and it has the backing of
AngularJS as well.
• This platform encompasses plugins that help easy marketing.
• It is a functional project in Github with growing number of
developers and community added to it.
• The PencilBlue tutorials are highly useful.
Official Website: http://pencilblue.org/
8. Apostrophe
• In 2007, Apostrophe was started as a Symfony CMS, and it uses
MongoDB.
• Like KeystoneJS it supports content driven solutions.
• The features are modular and templates are simple.
• The activity level of Apostrophe is not so alarming.
Official Website: http://apostrophenow.org/
9. Cody
• Cody is an user-friendly Node.js CMS built using MySQL.
• It provides drag-and-drop solutions and Multi-language support
• It belongs to the list of one of the active projects on Github.

• This project is meant to suit a special purpose and is highly
recommended for that.
Official Website: http://tiddlywiki.com/
11. TaracotJS
• TaracotJS is designed for the purpose of blogging and e-commerce.
• But the project remained untouched for some months, but now it is
active.
• TaracotJS works with mongoDB, and redis.
Official Website: http://taracot.org/
12. We.js
• We,js is the latest development, and can be utilized for developing
websites and blogs.
• Developers get the freedom of adding their own themes and plugins with
We.js.
• It supports images, groups, and user management.
• The project is under slow development, and users can expect the
availability of more useful themes and plugins.
Official Website: http://wejs.org/
13. Buckets.io
• Assembly community is the developers of Buckets.io.
• The community and development tasks are still ongoing.
• The npm package is available, and the project can be made
functional in any of the express projects.
• Development seems to be active, and users will hopefully receive
valuable themes.
Official Website: http://hatch.js/
14. Conclusion
• Some of Node.js CMS projects like Nodize and Hatch.js are dead
and is not active for more than a year.
• The list includes only the most valuable node.js CMS and the top
five in the list are mostly used by node.js developers.
• However, Ghost remains as a mature Node.js CMS among the lot in
terms of simplicity and functionality.
