This document discusses ways that Christians can relate to the Holy Spirit, including resisting, grieving, quenching, and blaspheming against the Holy Spirit. It explores what each of these mean based on passages from the Bible and Ellen White. Resisting refers to rejecting the Spirit's call, while grieving involves willful sinning. Quenching means being indifferent to biblical truths, and blasphemy is a deliberate and persistent rejection of Jesus' saving work. The document encourages submitting to, obeying, and accepting the sanctifying presence of the Holy Spirit.

As such, we ought to walk in the light and behave in a manner consistent with our calling. Wake up oh Christian and let your light shine.

Tomorrow we are starting a new series of study:
“The New Man” is a seminar that will focus on the spirit of man, its soul and its body.
We will learn the properties of each one of these three parts of man.
Our spirit is called to be the ruling part of us, actually, our spirit is the main part of our being, and is the place where the spirit of God dwells in.
We meet in Room #3 at CTF Toronto Wednesdays from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. I invite you to come and participate with us in this discovery of how to let our spirit become the ruler of our life.
We are to present our bodies as a living sacrifice to God. What does it mean to present our bodies as a living sacrifice? How do we present our bodies as a living sacrifice?

Why do you think Rahab is listed among the “heroes” of faith in Hebrews 11? Do you feel that some sins in your past or present are so terrible that they can’t be forgiven or that you are unworthy to serve God? How does Rahab’s story encourage you? What was the emotional state of the people in Jericho? (Josh. 2:9, 11; 6:1) How did this confirm God’s promises in Deut. l:21, 29–31? Read carefully Josh. 2:9–13. What did Rahab know about Israel's history? How long before had the Red Sea been crossed? (Ex. l4). How long before had Sihon and Og been conquered? (Deut. 2:26-3:ll) What did Rahab specifically say she believed about the God of Israel? What is impressive about her faith? Could anyone else in Jericho have come to the same conclusions?
“Being used by God

God can use anybody, believer or nonbeliever.
We know the dictionary definition of worship (a feeling, or devotion to a deity), and we have read John 4:24, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth"; but, what does the Bible teach us about the subject of worship? This is a series of lessons that gets to the heart of worship and what it really means for Christians.

This is a collection of writings on the work of the Holy Spirit in keeping the believer from living for the flesh. The sinful nature needs a higher purpose to rise above what it offers, and that is what the Spirit offers and delivers.
As soon as we forget that God poured out on us the Holy Spirit to cleanse us and renew us as His children, we begin to grow in pride and self-righteousness.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
3. The right understanding of the ministry of the Holy Spirit leads us to be
sensitive to His claims, responsive to His promptings, and submissive to His
will. In understanding that the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the
Godhead and Christ’s personal Gift to each Christian, we love Jesus so much
that we would not want to do anything that would…
Resist the Holy Spirit.
Grieve the Holy Spirit.
Quench the Holy Spirit.
Blaspheme against the Holy Spirit.
4. “You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and
ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your
fathers did, so do you.” (Acts 7:51)
Stephen accused the members of the Sanhedrin of
resisting the Holy Spirit like their parents—the
people of Israel—did.
How did they resist the Holy Spirit?
They rejected the call of the Holy Spirit in their
hearts.
The Spirit doesn’t break our freedom to
choose. We are free to either obey Him or
resist Him. That’s true at both personal and
collective level.
A person or a church that refuses to obey the
Word of God or the message of the prophets
is also resisting the Holy Spirit.
5. GRIEVING THE HOLY SPIRIT
“And do not make
God's Holy Spirit
sad; for the Spirit
is God's mark of
ownership on you, a
guarantee that the
Day will come when
God will set you
free.”
(Ephesians 4:30 GNT)
What does grieve
the Holy Spirit?
Lying (v. 25)
Being angry (v. 27)
Stealing (v. 28)
Corrupted words
(v. 29)
Bitterness (v. 31)
Evil speaking (v. 31)
What does make the
Holy Spirit happy?
Words of truth (v. 25)
Forgetting the wrath (v. 26)
Useful work (v. 28)
Words for edification (v. 29)
Mercy (v. 32)
Forgiveness (v. 32)
6. “And do not make God's Holy Spirit sad; for the Spirit is
God's mark of ownership on you, a guarantee that the Day
will come when God will set you free.” (Ephesians 4:30 GNT)
The Holy Spirit leads us
to Jesus who forgives
us and sanctifies us.
Therefore, He is glad
when we obey God in
everything and we
think and speak about
pure and holy things.
On the other hand, He is sad (grieved)
when we reject His sanctifying presence and
His transforming power by willingly sinning.
7. GRIEVING THE HOLY SPIRIT
“And do not make God's Holy Spirit sad; for the Spirit is
God's mark of ownership on you, a guarantee that the Day
will come when God will set you free.” (Ephesians 4:30 GNT)
According to Ephesians 4, the Spirit is glad when we treat well each other.
“…speak truth with his
neighbor, for we are
members of one another.”
(v. 25).
“…word […] that is good for
necessary edification, that it
may impart grace to the
hearers.” (v. 29).
“…forgiving one another.”
(v. 32).
How do I live my Christian life?
How do I treat others?
I want to make the Holy Spirit happy
every day!
8. “Do not quench the Spirit.”
(1 Thessalonians 5:19)
The work of the Holy Spirit is
compared to fire (Acts 2:3). Jeremiah
called that work “a burning fire shut
up in my bones.” (Jeremiah 20:9)
How can that fire be put out?
The Spirit makes us conscious of our
sin and help us living a life free of
sin. When we resist that
sanctification process, we are
quenching the Spirit.
The Biblical truths are a lamp that lightens
our Christian path (Psalm 119:105). When
we are indifferent to them or reject them,
we are actually refusing to walk in the
Spirit (Galatians 5:25). That’s another way
to quench the Spirit.
9. “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but
the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.” (Matthew 12:31)
Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit must be
understood as the deliberate and persistent
repudiation of Jesus’ saving work. It occurs when
an individual willfully and obstinately resists the
Spirit’s testimony of Christ and His salvation and
grace.
“The sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit
does not lie in any sudden word or deed; it is the
firm, determined resistance of truth and
evidence. […] It is the sin of persistent refusal to
respond to the invitation to repent.” (Ellen G. White.
SDA Bible Commentary, vol. 5, p. 1093).
If you’re wondering if you’ve committed
blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, then you’re
still open to His calling; you can still respond
to it.
10. “I would that all my brethren and sisters would
remember that it is a serious thing to grieve the Holy
Spirit, and it is grieved when the human agent seeks to
work himself and refuses to enter the service of the Lord
because the cross is too heavy or the self-denial too
great. The Holy Spirit seeks to abide in each soul. If it is
welcomed as an honored guest, those who receive it will
be made complete in Christ. The good work begun will
be finished; the holy thoughts, heavenly affections, and
Christlike actions will take the place of impure
thoughts, perverse sentiments, and rebellious acts.”
E.G.W. (Counsels on Health, section 12, p. 561)
11. I won’t
resist Him
• I promise to submit to the Holy Spirit, to listen to His
calling, to obey the Word of God and the message of the
prophets, and to stay close to Jesus.
I won’t
grieve Him
• I promise to make the Holy Spirit happy, to obey God, to
think and talk about pure and holy things, and to accept
His sanctifying presence and transforming power.
I won’t
quench Him
• I promise to revive the Holy Spirit’s work in my life, to let
Him sanctify me, and to accept the Biblical truths as the
rule for my life.
I won’t
blaspheme
against Him
• I promise to praise the Holy Spirit, to accept His
testimony about Christ’s salvation and grace, and to
respond to His calling to repentance.
