God calls Ezekiel to be a watchman for Israel. As a watchman, Ezekiel is to warn the people when he sees judgment coming and call them to repentance. If he fails to warn them and they perish, their blood will be on his hands. But if Ezekiel warns them faithfully and they still refuse to repent, their choice to continue in sin will be on their own heads. Ezekiel is to faithfully deliver warnings from God so the people can be saved from coming judgment through repentance.

‘When I bring the sword againsta land, and the people
of the land choose one of their men and make him
their watchman,

warning and the sword comes and takes their life, their
bloodwillbe on their own head.
