This document provides biographical information about Vikram Batra. It details that he was born in 1974 in Palampur, India and received his primary education locally. He later attended college in Chandigarh where he joined the NCC. In 1996, he passed the CDS examination and joined the Indian Military Academy. After training, he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. During the Kargil War in 1999, he captured two strategic peaks from the enemy and was killed in action while rescuing a soldier. He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery and sacrifice. Several memorials have been established in his honor.
