1) Guru Nanak was born in 1469 in what is now Pakistan and came to enlightenment around 1500 AD after disappearing for three days during a morning bath. 2) He traveled extensively throughout India and other parts of Asia to spread his philosophy of unity between Hindus and Muslims and rejecting meaningless rituals. 3) In 1520, Guru Nanak established the city of Kartarpur on the banks of the Ravi River where people of all faiths lived and worked together, sharing meals in a common kitchen. 4) Before his death, Guru Nanak formally appointed Lehna, who he renamed Angad, as his successor to continue leading the community as the next Guru
