Imogen Cunningham was a botanical and industrial photographer born in 1883 who studied chemistry and subsidized her tuition by photographing plants. She was a founding member of Group f/64 with Ansel Adams and Edward Weston, known for her fine detail. In her later years, Cunningham photographed people in their environments and those in their nineties. She believed true talent in photography can't be taught and that people must learn on their own.
