Mythbusters - Why Conventional Fundraising Wisdom is WrongDamian O'Broin
This document discusses three myths about fundraising and philanthropy:
1) Sending thank you letters to donors is a waste of time. However, several studies and organizations found increased donations when thank you letters were sent.
2) You can't replicate a viral fundraising campaign like the ice bucket challenge. While difficult, the document provides tips for developing a campaign that could also go viral with proper resources, culture, patience, tools, and strategies.
3) Germany is the best football team in the world. This myth is busted, as Germany cannot claim this title absolutely.
Slides used by Peter Lewis, CE at Institute of fundraising, at the Big Local ‘levering in funding' event, organised as part of the Local Trust programme of networking and learning events for Big Local residents. The event took place on Tuesday 10 October 2017.
This document discusses the challenges and opportunities for a UK children's charity that provides support for people dealing with substance abuse issues. The charity relies heavily on institutional donors but receives little from individuals. It plans to start asking its service users and those helped by the charity to donate in order to increase individual donations and "pay it forward". The charity also plans to invest in a fundraising database and capture more contact details to improve communications and fundraising efforts.
This document discusses audience segmentation for charities in Great Britain. It presents the CAM segmentation model which divides donors into 6 main segments based on their attitudes, motivations and behaviors related to charitable giving. One of the segments is "Super Doers" who are highly engaged in volunteering, campaigning and community involvement with charities. They are distinguished by their high levels of activity across all forms of charitable engagement. Personal experience with charities is the main driver of their trust and decision to support particular causes.
Presentation to the Institute of Fundraising East of England regional conference in October 2013. A brief review of stats is followed by some thoughts about what long-term environmental factors might drive giving.
The role of annual giving professions has evolved over the past several years from serving as mailing and phone bank organizers to becoming "mini" major gifts' professions, responsible for face-to-face solicitations with donors and working in collaboration with comprehensive capital campaign executives.
A leadership annual giving program with baseline gifts of a significant level has become an important component of the annual fund at many colleges. Their success hinges on four fundamentals: energetic and frequent community outreach, appropriate donor recognition throughout the year, assiduous donor contact and coordinated solicitation. A holistic approach to solicitation, working in cooperation with the other fund-raising officers of the college in their individualized campaigns, is key, as is internal communications.
In this presentation, annual gift professionals will receive an overview of these new realities. Agostinelli will outline the components of a successful leadership annual giving program while addressing some of the challenges that Carroll's program has met and overcome. The session will end with a discussion of how a leadership annual giving program enhances a comprehensive capital campaign, which Carroll College has currently underway with a $30 million goal.

The document provides examples of composition of functions. It gives the functions f(x) = 4 - x^2 and g(x) = sqrt(x) and calculates their composition, as well as finding the domain of each case. It then gives another example with the functions f(x) = sqrt(x) and g(x) = x^2 - 4, and again calculates their composition and domains. It provides exercises to calculate additional compositions of functions and their domains.
The document discusses limits and examples of evaluating limits. It covers rewriting functions when the limit is an indeterminate form of 0/0. Examples are provided of evaluating limits by sketching graphs or using left and right evaluations for values close to x. Methods like algebra, graphing, or left/right evaluations are presented for determining limits.

The eagle has the longest lifespan of its species but must undergo a difficult process of renewal to survive past middle age. As it reaches its 40s, its talons can no longer grab prey and its beak and wings deteriorate, leaving it unable to fly or hunt. To renew itself, the eagle flies to a mountaintop over 150 days and plucks out its beak and talons, allowing new ones to regrow before plucking its old feathers so it can fly again and live another 30 years.

Legacies provide a high return for charities, with £25.50 generated for every £1 invested. The document discusses legacy marketing strategies and lists useful websites for more information.
The document discusses Triangle Community Foundation's Triangle Gives Back program which aims to encourage giving and volunteerism in the Triangle region of North Carolina. This document discusses various ways to fund adoptions both domestically and internationally. It provides information on direct grants, matching grants of up to $4,000 per child, interest-free loans, and the federal adoption tax credit of up to $13,170 per child. Churches can partner with organizations like Lifesong for Orphans to set up adoption funds and administer grants and loans to help remove the financial barrier that prevents many families from adopting. Real-life examples show how families have funded adoptions through various donations, grants, fundraisers, and tax credits totaling thousands of dollars.
Attitudes to charitable giving and philanthropy in 'squeezed Britain'Karl Wilding
Changing attitudes to charitable giving in the UK. Trends show total annual donations have remained steady but more donors now see giving as an investment that deserves impact or financial returns. Some donors also shift towards "investor" mindsets focused on social justice causes over temporary aid. However, core charitable impulses remain strong in the UK despite "Squeezed Britain" economic pressures.
This document discusses strategies for securing major gifts and donations. It notes that prospect research is essential to success but major gifts can take time to secure. Data on million pound UK donations in 2014 shows they increased from the previous year. Segmenting donors based on attributes like giving capacity and propensity can help target the most promising prospects. Behavioral science principles like anchoring, scarcity heuristics, and reciprocity can influence asking. A compelling case for support and flexibility are also important for fundraising success.
As the world gets richer we hear more and more stories about powerful modern philanthropists like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. But is there enough giving taking place overall? Is money given to the right causes? And what are the trends in philanthropy right now?
We investigated the philanthropy sector as an internal research project to inform potential future venture development. We’re happy to share the outputs here.
- Over 21 million people in the UK have raised £1.5 billion for charities through individual fundraising platform JustGiving since 2001.
- Analysis of JustGiving data shows that individual fundraisers who have a personal connection to donors and set clear fundraising targets tend to raise more money. Donors are also influenced by the actions of other donors and may give more if they see a large donation.
- Different types of fundraising events see varying levels of success, with individual-led fundraising efforts by a sole fundraiser tending to result in more donations and higher total amounts raised compared to mass participation charity events.
The presentation was part of the Funding Conference in London on Monday 23 February 2015.
These presentations were part of the main plenary. Slides include Peter Lewis, Andrew Morris and Craig Dearden-Phillips MBE presentations.

Building An Individual Giving Program Combined Sw Ct Finalmtbcindy
This document discusses building an individual giving program. It provides statistics on sources of charitable contributions in 2010, with individuals making up the largest share at 73%. It then discusses why nonprofits tend to focus on business and foundation fundraising over individual giving. The rest of the document outlines the development cycle for cultivating individual donors, including points of entry, engagement, asking for donations, thanking donors, and evaluating efforts. It provides examples from two organizations, Friends of the Columbia Gorge and Macdonald Center, and discusses keys to success like the role of board members, executive directors, and program staff.
This document provides information about funding adoption through God's provision and the support of churches and organizations. It discusses how God calls believers to be adopted as his children and promises to generously provide for their needs. It then gives an overview of the costs of adoption and various funding options including grants, loans, tax credits, employer assistance, and fundraising support. Specific organizations that provide funding are listed along with contacts for each. The purpose of funding adoption is to see orphans find homes, families assisted, and the gospel shared through this act of faith.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
