Victor Houteff and the Davidian Seventh-day Adventists broke off from the SDA church, believing they were the 144,000 mentioned in Revelation. They taught that the 144,000 would never die and would be sealed and translated before the close of probation. However, the SDA church rejected Houteff's teachings as unbiblical and not in agreement with the Spirit of Prophecy writings of Ellen White. Ellen White warned about not accepting new doctrines from individuals that were contrary to established SDA beliefs.
1) EGW warns that there will be a shaking and sifting among God's people as the straight testimony is given to call people out of Laodicea.
2) This will lead some to repent and be purified, receiving the seal of God, while others will reject the testimony and join the ranks of the opposition.
3) For those who reject the straight testimony and do not receive the seal, they will face the general destruction described in Ezekiel 9, as the five men with slaughter weapons begin at God's sanctuary and slay the wicked.
The document discusses the infiltration of the king of the North into the glorious land as described in Daniel 11:41. It argues that the glorious land refers to the Adventist movement worldwide, not just the Middle East. It provides historical context for Assyria's invasion of Judea as a type of the final conflict. It asserts that the sanctuary doctrine provides refuge from the king of the North for God's people, calling them to gather at the heavenly sanctuary during the antitypical day of atonement.
Sanctuary Presentation 4. The Sanctuary Finally CleansedSami Wilberforce
1) The document discusses the theme of Revival Week at Maseno University, focusing on the sanctuary.
2) It explains that Satan has used religious institutions like the Jewish and Catholic churches to block the light of Jesus in the sanctuary, and now wants to block Him in the Most Holy Place.
3) The cleansing of the sanctuary can only occur after God's people are cleansed of sin, as their defilement also defiles the sanctuary. This cleansing will happen at Jesus' second coming.
The document discusses the 144,000 and who they are. It explains that they will be sealed by God before the winds are released, marking them as a special group who have remained faithful. While the exact meaning of the 144,000 is uncertain, the key is for believers to strive daily to strengthen their relationship with God and help others do the same, as this group will only be known by God. The focus should be on spiritual preparation rather than debates over the 144,000's identity.
The document discusses chapters 10-11 of the book of Revelation. It provides commentary on several key passages:
1) Chapter 10 discusses Jesus showing how God's word has opposite effects for believers and unbelievers. It also describes a mighty angel and a little scroll that is sweet but turns sour.
2) Chapter 11 describes how two witnesses will show God's protection of believers and wrath against unbelievers. It identifies the witnesses as two future prophets, possibly Moses and Elijah.
3) The witnesses are killed but then resurrected, ascending to heaven as their enemies watch, showing God's gracious presence for believers. The seventh trumpet sounds God's judgment of unbelievers and praise for his kingdom.
The document summarizes chapters 4 and 5 of the Book of Revelations. It describes John's vision of being shown into heaven through an open door, where he sees 24 elders seated around God's throne and the seven lamps of fire and sea of glass. The elders worship God, who is depicted through the symbols of a lion, ox, man, and eagle. A sealed scroll is in God's right hand, representing the revealed will and works of God for the 7,000 years of Earth's temporal existence, sealed with seven seals that each represent 1,000 years. Only the Lamb, Jesus Christ, is found worthy to open the seals due to his atonement, represented by his status as both apostle and

This document provides background information on the church in Ephesus that was addressed in Revelation 2:1-7. It summarizes that Ephesus was an early, apostolic church that was commended for its works, patience, and rejection of false teachings. However, Christ criticized it for losing its first love for Him and becoming too focused on routines and programs. It was warned to repent and return to serving out of love for Christ or else He would remove its pastor and blessing. The church is used as an example of what can happen when outward works are not matched with inward devotion to Christ.
The document discusses the biblical concept of the "abomination of desolation" mentioned in the books of Daniel and Matthew. It provides definitions of "abomination" and "desolation" and examines the four mentions of the phrase in the book of Daniel. The document suggests that the abomination of desolation referred to in Daniel was fulfilled by the Roman armies destroying Jerusalem in 70 AD. It argues that both pagan Rome and papal Rome acted as the abomination that desolated God's sanctuary through their idolatrous practices and persecution of Christians.

This document summarizes prophecies from the books of Daniel and Revelation regarding the little horn power and its 1260 day/year prophecy. It shows how the earthly sanctuary services were replaced by Rome after Christ's ministry ended, fulfilling Daniel's prophecy of the daily sacrifice being taken away. It lists 5 ways the papacy cast down God's truth: 1) Replacing Christ's sacrifice with penance and indulgences, 2) Replacing baptism with infant sprinkling, 3) Replacing the Bible with traditions, 4) Replacing Christ's mediation with confession to priests, and 5) Plunging Europe into the dark ages. The Nature of Christ -revisited - The Baker Letter (updated)Antonio Bernard
This document discusses issues that have arisen regarding Ellen White's writings on the human nature of Christ. It examines some of the terms she used such as "human nature", "sinful flesh", "fallen nature", and examines what she meant by these terms. It looks at statements that seem contradictory and discusses how to come to a balanced understanding examining all the evidence. The document explores Ellen White's understanding of "sinfulness" and whether that referred to our fallen nature or actual sinful acts. It discusses statements Ellen White drew from a sermon by Melvill and analyzes whether she accepted his conclusions about Christ having innocent infirmities but not sinful propensities. The overall summary seeks to bring clarity to Ellen White's
This document discusses whether women should be ordained and examines perspectives on the role of women in ministry from Scripture and the writings of Ellen White. It provides commentary on ecumenical relations between the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Catholic Church in the 20th century. This included the presentation of a gold medallion to the Pope by an Adventist representative and increased cooperation between denominations. It also addresses perspectives on the interpretation of prophecies regarding the Antichrist and questions whether traditional Adventist views should be reconsidered in light of world events.
The document provides an overview and analysis of Revelation Chapter 12. It discusses:
1) The context of Chapter 12 within the book of Revelation and the prophecies concerning the Christian church and faithful remnant.
2) An analysis of the symbols in Chapter 12 including the woman representing the church, the dragon representing pagan Rome, and the child representing Christ.
3) Lessons for Christians today about resisting worldly influences and maintaining faithfulness.
The Feast of the Assumption commemorates the ascent of Mary, mother of Jesus, into heaven. It is celebrated on August 15th each year by Catholics and Christians around the world in churches. The feast honors Mary being taken up, body and soul, into heavenly glory at the end of her earthly life.
This document provides commentary on key passages from Revelation chapter 12. It describes a woman representing God's faithful people being threatened by a dragon representing Satan. The woman gives birth to a son (Jesus) who defeats the dragon. The dragon makes war on the remnant of the woman's seed, who keep God's commandments. The document suggests this remnant will face persecution but ultimately overcome through faith in Jesus.
The document discusses the parable of the ten virgins from Matthew 25:1-13. It provides commentary on the parable from Ellen White and other Adventist sources. Some key points made:
- The parable applies to Adventists in the last days as they await Christ's second coming.
- The lamps represent the Word of God, while the oil represents the Holy Spirit.
- The wise virgins studied the Scriptures intensely and received the Holy Spirit, while the foolish lacked the Holy Spirit.
- The parable and its meaning are still applicable today as the church awaits Christ's return.

This passage from 1 Corinthians discusses how Christians are like the different parts of a body, with Christ as the head. While members have different gifts and roles, they are all interconnected. No one part is more important than another. The Spirit has placed each person in the body as God desired, and all parts should support each other so the body functions as a unified whole, without division or jealousy.
The document discusses the reliability of the Bible by examining prophecy, integrity, and textual criticism. It outlines how prophecies in the Bible have been fulfilled, distinguishing it from other religious texts. Specific prophecies about Jesus' first coming are analyzed, showing how he fulfilled over 100 prophecies about characteristics like his birthplace, lineage, and manner of death. The accurate fulfillment of prophecies affirms the Bible's divine origin and reliability.
This document discusses angels based on biblical passages. It covers that there is an innumerable number of angels who are spiritual beings created by God. Angels have various orders and ranks, with some like archangels having greater power and authority. Angels played important roles in the ministries of Jesus and the church by delivering messages and protecting believers. While angels can instruct, they do not preach the gospel. The document also notes that some angels fell and joined Satan in rebellion against God and will be judged in hell along with the devil.

Ecclesiology Part 1 - The Study of the Church Robert Tan
This document discusses the definition and usage of the term "ecclesiology", which refers to the study of the church. It begins by examining the Greek origins of the word and then explores different understandings of what constitutes a "church" - whether it refers to a building, institution, or universal body of believers. The document analyzes how the word "church" is used in the New Testament, typically referring to local gatherings of believers rather than a universal entity. It traces how English translations have evolved from using terms like "congregation" to the modern "church". Finally, it outlines how the church is described as a spiritual organism or body in the Ephesians epistle.
The document discusses various topics related to origins including evolution, the age of the Earth, geology, and the Bible. It questions mainstream scientific views and presents alternative explanations. It suggests that facts should point to a Creator rather than purely naturalistic processes. The document encourages examining whether viewpoints have already assumed evolution is true or could fit with creation. It provides biblical passages about sin, salvation through Jesus, and turning to God.
The document discusses the importance of medical missionary work according to the writings of Ellen White. It emphasizes that medical missionary work is an integral part of gospel ministry and the third angel's message. True SDA ministers and laity are called to engage in medical missionary work to help relieve suffering and gain access to people in order to share the love of Jesus. EGW asserts she received direction from God regarding the importance of this work. Satan will counterfeit the miracles of God's medical missionaries, so God's people must stand firmly on the truth and not engage in blame games.
There are lots of theories out there about 'pre-tribulation or post-tribulation', but this should not be a basis for dividing true believers; as ultimately, the most important thing is that we are in a relationship with God, that we are walking closely with God and that we are ready for whatever comes in the end times.

This document outlines four tests or trials that a true prophet must pass:
1) Their messages must be in accordance with what is already revealed in the Bible.
2) Their predictions must come true, except in cases of conditional prophecies.
3) They must exalt Jesus as the only Savior.
4) Their life and fruits must be consistent with their message.
The document examines how Ellen G. White passes all four of these tests to demonstrate that she was a true prophet.
The document discusses Satan's rebellion and God's response throughout history, culminating in a final demonstration and resolution. It notes that 6,000 years ago God and Jesus rejected Satan's plans, 2,000 years ago angels did the same, and in the near future the 144,000 will understand and reject Satan despite intense persecution during the time of Jacob's trouble. God will then seal the 144,000 to demonstrate His ability to correctly identify the righteous. After 1,000 years, the wicked will understand but reject God, leading to their final destruction and Satan's admission of God's justice and authority.
The Elijah Challenge End-Time Model of EvangelismAlbert Kang
The Elijah Challenge End-Time Model of Evangelism is a basic primer for all Christians who want to learn how to evangelize by applying the power and authority of the Lord in healing the infirm. It shows the readers the scriptural basis for this type of Power Evangelism and how the modern Church should be applying this to fulfill the Great Commission.
This document provides a summary of Revelation 14, which describes three angels' messages. It discusses the 144,000 who remain faithful through trials and go to heaven. The first angel's message calls people to worship God as creator. As this message spreads in the 1800s, it causes division as some embrace it and others reject it. The second angel then announces that Babylon (apostate churches) has fallen for prioritizing worldly pleasures over God. In 1844, the churches began mocking the prophecy of Daniel 8:14. The third angel warns about worshipping the beast and receiving its mark, which will result in eternal torment.
The document discusses salvation during the Tribulation period. It argues that only those who are deceived will take the Mark of the Beast, as Revelation states those with the mark were deceived. It also argues salvation during this time will be by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ, as Revelation says the overcomers overcame by the blood of the Lamb. It notes Tribulation believers are referred to as fellowservants, brethren, and saints. The document suggests self-defense may be prohibited for believers during this time based on passages in Revelation.
The document discusses several aspects of ancient marriage customs and doctrines. It provides evidence from ancient texts like the Book of Breathings, Joseph and Aseneth, and the Falasha text that suggest eternal marriage was an ancient concept. It also examines the idea of sacrifice and how offering all things leads to faith and knowledge of God's acceptance according to the teachings of Joseph Smith. Additionally, it explores the order and symbolism of the facsimiles from the Book of Abraham.
This document contains excerpts from a book titled "Holy Spirit Mysteries" edited by Glenn Pease. It discusses several mysteries related to the Holy Spirit, including the mystery of the new birth. The excerpt focuses on explaining the mystery of the new birth, which refers to regeneration or being born again spiritually. It describes how people are born spiritually dead due to sin and unable to understand spiritual things, but God intervenes and makes believers spiritually alive through faith in Christ. The passage uses a conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus to illustrate this mystery, with Jesus telling Nicodemus one must be born again to see the kingdom of God.
The document provides a summary of a sermon about the importance of the sanctuary message in Seventh-day Adventism. It discusses how the sanctuary message was foundational to SDA beliefs but was gradually deemphasized after the 1960s. It also summarizes the controversy surrounding the 1957 book "Questions on Doctrine", which attempted to make Adventist beliefs more acceptable to evangelicals but divided the church and led it to drift from some core doctrines. The sermon argues for a return to emphasizing the sanctuary message and obedience to God's law through Christ's power.

The document provides an overview of several Eastern and Western religions and philosophies, including their origins, key figures, concepts, and teachings. It then examines some of the major changes that Christianity brought, such as moving from a focus on warfare and punishment to forgiveness, and redefining humanity's relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Overall, the document uses brief summaries and quotes to introduce several religious and philosophical traditions and how Christianity transformed certain beliefs and practices.
The document discusses several aspects of ancient marriage traditions, including evidence that marriages were considered eternal. It provides examples from ancient texts like the Book of Breathings and the pseudepigraphic work Joseph and Aseneth that indicate spouses were meant to reunite in the afterlife. The document also examines the concept of consecration in the ancient world and its relationship to burning incense, as well as how various ordinances like baptism and the endowment were practiced by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
The document discusses the 144,000 mentioned in Revelation 14. It proposes that they are a faithful remnant who will stand during the end times and be protected and guided by God. They will have overcome sin and fully reflect the character of Christ. The document explores various interpretations of the 144,000 and compares them to descriptions of God's people elsewhere in scripture.
1) The document discusses Elijah and his role as a prophet who prepared people for God's messages and called them to repentance, drawing parallels to John the Baptist who also prepared people for Jesus. It says faithful prophets like Elijah, Nathan, and John the Baptist delivered God's messages regardless of consequences.
2) It describes how Elijah repaired and rebuilt the altar to God that had been destroyed, showing his respect for God's covenant. It says Elijah was chosen to fulfill God's purpose of punishing the idolatrous kingdom and bringing reformation.
3) It discusses how restoration and reform, like what was done after the Babylonian exile, is a symbol of the spiritual restoration
The document discusses how the Bible has been used both to support and oppose slavery, the Copernican theory of astronomy, and views on poverty. It notes that passages from both the Old and New Testaments were cited by proponents of slavery to argue it was sanctioned by God. It also discusses how Christian leaders like Martin Luther and John Calvin rejected Copernicus' findings because they contradicted literal interpretations of certain Bible passages. The document questions whether the Bible should be seen as a rule book or library open to different interpretations, and suggests seeing it through the lens of Jesus' life and teachings rather than taking every passage literally.

This document discusses leaving one's first love for God. It begins by defining first love as a first priority love for God, not just an initial love. It then lists 5 common reasons why some leave their first love: 1) Lack of communication with God through prayer and Bible study, 2) Loving worldliness over God, 3) Making cares of this life a higher priority than God, 4) Loving sin, and 5) Not fellowshipping with God's people. It encourages readers to strengthen their communication with God daily, focus on heavenly things, make God the priority, confess and repent of sins, and have vibrant relationships with other believers to rekindle their first love for God in the new year.
The document discusses running the Christian race of faith with endurance. It emphasizes three key points:
1) Meditating on and beholding Jesus leads to transformation as we are changed into His image.
2) Christians must focus on Jesus through the eye of faith, fixing their eyes on Him as their light and guide.
3) Motivated by Jesus' self-sacrificing love for us, Christians find the courage to continue running the race of faith despite struggles or suffering.
Seeing through God's eyes means:
1. Seeing God's will instead of our own, as in the examples of Samson and Paul.
2. Seeing God's power at work even when it's not apparent, like when Elisha's servant's eyes were opened to see God's army.
3. Seeing ourselves, others, and the world through God's eyes of love instead of human judgment, as God sees people's hearts rather than outward appearances. Seeing in this way helps us understand God's love and perspective.

It emphasizes three main points: 1) Watching for the signs of the end times urgency, 2) Watching one's own faith status and examining oneself, and 3) Watching as one's highest calling to proclaim the gospel and wait for God. Various Bible verses are provided to support becoming a watchman, being alert for Jesus' return, and faithfully carrying out one's duty to pray and warn others.
The document summarizes a passage from the book of Matthew where Jesus walks on water and rescues Peter. It describes how the disciples were sailing without Jesus during a storm, until Jesus came walking toward them on the water. Peter became scared by the wind and waves and began to sink, but Jesus rescued him. The passage emphasizes having faith in Jesus and focusing on him even during difficult times.
The document discusses the importance of every Christian having a missionary spirit and being actively involved in sharing the gospel. It notes that Jesus came to seek and save the lost, and that ministers alone cannot do all the work of evangelism. All Christians are commanded by Christ to go and make disciples of all nations. The key aspects to being a missionary are experiencing God's forgiveness, being willing to speak boldly about one's faith, and sharing first with family. One's greatest ability is availability for service, and a revived heart is a witnessing heart that desires to share God's love with others.
1. The document discusses the importance of walking humbly with God.
2. It provides examples from the Bible of humble figures like Moses and Jesus Christ, and teaches that only through the Holy Spirit can our hearts be changed from pride to humility.
3. True Christians are humble, teachable, and have the character of Jesus Christ. The story of the Pharisee and tax collector illustrates that those who exalt themselves will be humbled, while the humble will be exalted.
This document discusses what it means to walk with God amidst distractions. It provides examples from the Bible of Enoch and Noah who walked closely with God despite living among sinful people. The document emphasizes that to walk with God means:
1) Choosing to spend time with God each day through Bible reading and prayer, even when busy.
2) Remaining faithful to God's principles no matter what challenges arise.
3) Committing to a lifelong journey with God and not turning back, as walking with Him is not just a short-term commitment.
1. The document describes visions from the books of Daniel and Revelation involving symbols of beasts representing kingdoms.
2. It identifies the beasts as representing Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome and its divided states.
3. It argues that the "little horn" power that persecuted God's people for 1260 years represents the Papacy, based on characteristics from the visions like having eyes and a boastful mouth.
Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.

The pervasiveness of Lying in today's World.pptxniwres
In our interconnected world, lies weave through the fabric of society like hidden threads. We encounter them in politics, media, personal relationships, and even within ourselves. The prevalence of deception raises profound questions about truth, trust, and the human condition.
Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.

Tales of This and Another Life - Chapters.pdfMashaL38
This book is one of the best of the translated ones, for it has a warning character for all those who find themselves in the experience of material life. Irmão X provides a shrewd way of describing the subtleties and weaknesses that can jeopardize our intentions, making us more attentive and vigilant by providing us with his wise pages, reminding us between the lines of the Master's words: "Pray and watch."
The Book of Revelation, filled with symbolic and apocalyptic imagery, presents one of its most striking visions in Revelation 9:3-12—the locust army. Understanding the significance of this locust army provides insight into the broader themes of divine judgment, protection, and the ultimate triumph of God’s will as depicted in Revelation.

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1

Davidian Seventh-day Adventist
One of the oldest offshoot from Seventh-day Adventist
There teachings came primarily from Victor Houteff’s
own “Private” interpretation
They are still claiming as a Seventh-day Adventist
They believe that they are the 144,000 in Rev 7
In this lecture we will know more about them and we will
be aware of there teachings
What is DSDA’s?
5.
Mr. Houteff, leader of the Shepherd’s Rod
Movement, makes this positive
statement:
"No one should fear or he backward to
declare THIS MESSAGE right from the
Seventh-day Adventist pulpit, FOR IT IS
PURE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST
DOCTRINE, calling God's people hack
to the principles upon which this great
denomination was established."— The
Shepherd's Rod,Vol. 1, 250.
6.
Is it "pure Seventh-day Adventist
doctrine"? The answer
is found by comparing the
statements quoted in the
following presentation…
7.
1Ti 4:16 Watch yourself and
watch your teaching. Keep on
doing these things, because if you
do, you will save both yourself and
those who hear you.

Strive to Be Among the 144,000.--[Revelation 7:9-17 quoted.]
Those whom the Lamb shall lead by the fountains of living waters,
and from whose eyes He shall wipe away all tears, will be those
now receiving the knowledge and understanding revealed in the
Bible, the Word of God. . . . We may behold Christ to good
purpose. We may safely look to Him; for He is all-wise. As we look
to Him and think of Him, He will be formed within, the hope of
glory. Let us strive with all the power that God has given us to be
among the hundred and forty-four thousand (RH March 9, 1905).
{7BC 970.10}
Ellen White on 144,000
13. Christ says that there will be those in the church who
will present fables and suppositions, when God has
given grand, elevating, ennobling truths which should
ever be kept in the treasure house of the mind. When
men pick up this theory and that theory, when they are
curious to know something it is not necessary for them
to know, God is not leading them. It is not His plan
that His people shall present something which they
have to suppose, which is not taught in the Word. It is
not His will that they shall get into controversy over
questions which will not help them spiritually, such as,
Who is to compose the hundred and forty-four
thousand? This those who are the elect of God will in a
short time know without question. {1SM 174.3

Sister E.G. White was doubtless far more acquainted
with this subject than any one living at this time, for
she wrote much about them and had visions of them.
There is no doubt that she, too, spent much time in
searching both from the Bible and her own writings,
but she has failed to point out the exact company by
assembling the references together, and clear the
mystery.

The Bible? - “Which is not taught

Houteff’s Claim
18.
If evidence can be brought to view that
the 144,000 (in number) lived before the
seventh-plague, then we have positive
proof that the 144,000 never died.
Sheperd’s Rod Volume 1:23
144,000 never died?
19.
In 1909 General Conference, Elder George
A. Irwin Ask EGW…
If those who have died in the message
would be among the 144,000?
EGW answer: “Oh yes, those who have
died in the faith will be among the
144,000. I am clear on that matter.
J.N. Loughorough’s Pamplet, Questions
on the sealing message, p.29.

I saw that she (Hastings) was sealed and would
come up at the voice of God and stand upon the
earth, and would be with the 144,000. I saw we need
not mourn for her; she would rest in the time of
trouble, and all that we could mourn for was our loss
in being deprived of her company. I saw her death
would result in good.
Letter 10, 1850 quoted in 2SM 263.

21.
If Class 2 (the great multitude), were the saved and
resurrected from all ages, then all of the saved must
have palms in their hands, but as it is plain that not all
have the palms, then these are not all the saved in all
ages, but are the translated ones only, besides the
144,000. The palm is a symbol of victory over death
and the grave; that is, they never died. Shepherd's
Rod book, Vol. 1 43-44.

22.
The cases of all who are sealed from 1929 to the final close of
probation will be investigated before the throne in the
heavenly sanctuary while living. The investigation
commences after the fulfillment of Ezekiel 9. Those who are
sealed from 1929 to the fulfillment of Ezekiel 9 (close of
probation for the church), are living saints, 144,000 in
number, who shall never die -- translated without tasting
death.
Sheperd’s Rod Volume 2: 161

That time of trouble is before any of the sleeping
saints are resurrected, therefore the 144,000 are not
resurrected, but are living saints who have never
tasted death and are to be translated at the second
coming of Christ.

THE 144,000.—We were on our way to Mount Zion. As
we were traveling along, we met a company who were
also gazing at the glories of the place. I noticed red as a
border on their garments; their crowns were brilliant;
their robes were pure white. As we greeted them, I
asked Jesus who they were. He said they were
martyrs that had been slain for Him. With them was
an innumerable company of little ones; they had a hem
of red on their garments also. 1T 68, 69.

God has not passed His people by and chosen one
solitary man here and another there as the only
ones worthy to be entrusted with His truth. He
does not give one man new light contrary to the

have arisen making this claim. . . . Let none be self-
confident, as though God had given them special
light above their brethren. . . . {LDE 90.6}

There are a thousand temptations in disguise prepared for
those who have the light of truth; and the only safety for any
of us is in receiving no new doctrine, no new interpretation
of the Scriptures, without first submitting it to brethren of
experience. Lay it before them in a humble, teachable spirit,
with earnest prayer; and if they see no light in it, yield to
their judgment; for "in the multitude of counselors there is
safety."--Testimonies, Vol. 5, pp. 291-293. (1885.) {CW 47.1}

Other ministers, singly and in groups, thereafter examined
Mr. Houteff's views and found them unsound.
Nevertheless, in response to his clamor for another hearing,
the Pacific Union Conference arranged with the General
Conference for a committee of 12 able and experienced
ministers to meet in Los Angeles in February, 1934, with
Arthur G. Daniells presiding, to hear him explain his
peculiar doctrines as fully as he desire. In its published

General Destruction of
the Wicked
These, unless they repent, and leave the work of Satan in
oppressing those who have the burden of the work, and in holding
up the hands of sinners in Zion, will never receive the mark of
God's sealing approval. They will fall in the general
destruction of all the wicked, represented by the five men
bearing slaughter weapons. Mark this point with care; those who
receive the pure mark of truth, wrought in them by the power of
the Holy Ghost, represented by the man in linen, are those "that
sigh and cry for all the abominations that are done" in the church.
Their love for purity and the honor and glory of God is such, and
they have so clear a view of the exceeding sinfulness of sin, that
they are represented as being in an agony, even sighing and crying.

see the wide contrast between sin and righteousness, and
do not feel as those do who stand in the counsel of God
and receive the mark, is described in the order to the five
men with slaughter weapons: "Go ye after him through
the city, and smite; let not your eye spare, neither have ye
pity; slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little
children, and women; but come not near any man upon
whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary." {RH, June
8, 1886 par. 3}

The Lord has sent messages of warning and entreaty,
messages of reproof and rebuke, and they have not
been in vain. But we have never had a message that
the Lord would disorganize the church. We have
never had the prophecy concerning Babylon applied to the
Seventh-day Adventist Church, or been informed that
the "loud cry" consisted in calling God's people to
come out of her; for this is not God's plan concerning
Israel. (RH Oct 3,1893)
Not to disorganize
41.
The Lord has declared that the history of the past
shall be rehearsed as we enter upon the closing
work. Every truth that He has given for these last
days is to be proclaimed to the world. Every pillar
that He has established is to be strengthened. We
cannot now step off the foundation that God has
established. We cannot now enter into any new
organization; for this would mean apostasy from the
truth. {20MR 151.1}
No new Organization

Had the church as a body, or at least the
leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist
denomination accepted the message of
reform as presented to them in "The
Shepherd's Rod," Vol. 1, there would be no
necessity for that class to fall by the figure of
the five men with the slaughter weapons.

He who presides over His church and the destinies of nations
is carrying forward the last work to be accomplished for this
world. To His angels He gives the commission to execute His
judgments. Let the ministers awake, let them take in the
situation. The work of judgment begins at the sanctuary.
"And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate,
which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter
weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed
with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side: and they went
in, and stood beside the brazen altar…"

…Read Ezekiel 9:2-7. The command is, "Slay utterly old
and young, both maids, and little children, and women:
but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and
begin at My sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient
men which were before the house." Saith God, "I will
recompense their way upon their head." The words will
soon be spoken, "Go your ways, and pour out the vials of
the wrath of God upon the earth." {TM 431,432. 3, 1}

“A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the Lord hath a
controversy with the nations: he will plead with all flesh; he will give them
that are wicked to the sword.” [Jeremiah 25:31.] For six thousand years the
great controversy has been in progress; the Son of God and his heavenly
messengers have been in conflict with the power of the evil one, to warn,
enlighten, and save the children of men. Now all have made their decision; the
wicked have fully united with Satan in his warfare against God. The time
has come for God to vindicate the authority of his downtrodden law. Now the
controversy is not alone with Satan, but with men. “The Lord hath a
controversy with the nations;” “he will give them that are wicked to the
sword…” {GC88 656.1}

…The mark of deliverance has been set upon those “that sigh and
that cry for all the abominations that be done.” Now the angel of
death goes forth, represented in Ezekiel's vision by the men with
the slaughtering weapons, to whom the command is given: “Slay
utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women;
but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at
my sanctuary.” Says the prophet, “They began at the ancient men
which were before the house.” [Ezekiel 9:1-6.] The work of
destruction begins among those who have professed to be the
spiritual guardians of the people. The false watchmen are the
first to fall. There are none to pity or to spare. Men, women,
maidens, and little children perish together. {GC88 656.2}

“The Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their
iniquity; the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.”
[Isaiah 26:21.] “And this shall be the plague wherewith the Lord will smite all the
people that have fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh shall consume away while
they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and
their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. And it shall come to pass in that
day that a great tumult from the Lord shall be among them; and they shall lay hold
every one on the hand of his neighbor, and his hand shall rise up against the hand
of his neighbor.” [Zechariah 14:12, 13.] In the mad strife of their own fierce passions,
and by the awful outpouring of God's unmingled wrath, fall the wicked
inhabitants of the earth,—priests, rulers, and people, rich and poor, high and low.

In harmony with the above counsel of the Spirit of prophecy, the
"Union Conference Committee appointed the following brethren to
give Mr, Houteff the hearing he asked for: Glenn Calkins, A. G.
Danielis, J. E* Fulton, (Otto Graf took Elder Fulton’s place) G. A..
Roberts, C. S. Prout, F« C. Gilbert, J. A. Burden, H. M. S, Richards,

gave him a quiet, respectful hearing "in the Hoover Street
Tabernacle at 10:00 A. M., Monday, February 19, 1934." Serious
errors were found in Mr. Houteff*s (leader of the Shepherd’s Rod
movement) teachings. He was answered and his message was
rejected.—W. M. A.)

"It will be found that those who bear false messages will not have a high
sense of honor and integrity. They will deceive the people, and mix up
with their error the Testimonies* of Sister White, and use her name to
give influence to their work. They make such selections from the *
Testimonies* as they think they can twist to support their positions, and
place them in a setting of falsehood, so that their error may have weight,
and be accepted by the people. They misinterpret and misapply that
which God has given to the church to warn, counsel, reprove, comfort,
and encourage those who shall make up the remnant people of God,"—
