WHAT IS IT? E-Rate is the commonly used name for the Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Service Administrative Company under the Federal Communications Commission.
WHAT IS IT? They support connectivity- the conduit or pipeline for communications using telecommunications services and/or the internet.
WHAT IS IT? Funding is requested under four categories of service: telecommunications service, internet access, internal connections, and basic maintenance of internal connections.
WHAT IS IT? Discounts for support depend on the level of poverty and the urban/rural status of the population served and range from 20% to 90% of the costs of eligible services.
WHO DOES IT HELP? Eligible schools, school districts and libraries may apply individually or as part of a consortium. Assists most schools and libraries in the US to obtain affordable telecommunications and internet access.

DISTRICT TECHNOLOGY PLAN GOALS Goal 1:  To improve the academic achievement, including technology literacy, of all students.  Goal 2:  To integrate technology (including software and electronically delivered learning materials) into curricula and instruction, and utilize a timeline for this integration.  Goal 3:  To improve the capacity of all teachers to integrate technology effectively into curriculum and instruction.
DISTRICT TECHNOLOGY PLAN GOALS Goal 3:  To improve the capacity of all teachers to integrate technology effectively into curriculum and instruction.  Goal 4:  To provide training to identify and promote curricula and teaching strategies that integrate technology effectively into curriculum and instruction, based on a review of relevant research and leading to improvements in student academic achievement.
DISTRICT TECHNOLOGY PLAN GOALS Goal 5:  To provide ongoing, sustained professional development for: teachers, principals, administrators, and school library media personnel to further the effective use of technology in the classroom and the library media center.
DISTRICT TECHNOLOGY PLAN GOALS Goal 6:  To provide supporting resources, such as services, software, other electronically delivered learning materials, and print resources, that will be acquired to ensure successful and effective uses of technology.  Goal 7:  To use technology effectively to promote parental involvement and increase communication with parents.
DISTRICT TECHNOLOGY PLAN GOALS Goal 8:  To provide access to adult literacy programs delivered by the district or in collaboration with adult literacy service providers.  Goal 9:  To ensure that all students and teachers have increased access to technology.
RESOURCES, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & EVALUATION Budget resources will come from district funds, state funds and grant partnership.  The districts instructional technology coordinator, Jan North, will be in charge of coordinating the professional development opportunities.  A design and implementation plan will be the main ongoing evaluation process.
