4. WHAT IS IT? E-Rate is the commonly used name for the Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Service Administrative Company under the Federal Communications Commission.

5. WHAT IS IT? They support connectivity- the conduit or pipeline for communications using telecommunications services and/or the internet.

6. WHAT IS IT? Funding is requested under four categories of service: telecommunications service, internet access, internal connections, and basic maintenance of internal connections.

7. WHAT IS IT? Discounts for support depend on the level of poverty and the urban/rural status of the population served and range from 20% to 90% of the costs of eligible services.

11. DISTRICT TECHNOLOGY PLAN GOALS Goal 1: To improve the academic achievement, including technology literacy, of all students. Goal 2: To integrate technology (including software and electronically delivered learning materials) into curricula and instruction, and utilize a timeline for this integration. Goal 3: To improve the capacity of all teachers to integrate technology effectively into curriculum and instruction.

13. DISTRICT TECHNOLOGY PLAN GOALS Goal 5: To provide ongoing, sustained professional development for: teachers, principals, administrators, and school library media personnel to further the effective use of technology in the classroom and the library media center.

Goal 7: To use technology effectively to promote parental involvement and increase communication with parents.
