Learning styles a. Visual - The visual learner takes mental pictures
of information given, so in order for this learner
to retain information, oral or written,
presentations of new information must contain
diagrams and drawings, preferably in color. The
visual learner cannot concentrate with a lot of
activity around him and will focus better and
learn faster in a quiet study environment.
b.Kinesthetic - described as the students in the
classroom, who have problems sitting still and
who often bounce their legs while tapping their
fingers on the desks. They are often referred to
as hyperactive students with concentration
issues.
c. Auditory - a learner who the ability to remember
speeches and lectures in detail but has a hard
time with written text. Having to read long texts
is pointless and will not be retained by the
auditory learner unless it is read aloud.
d.Activist - Learns by having a go. They thrive in
environments where they can explore,
experiment, and interact with others.
e. Reflector - Learns most from activities where
they can watch, listen and then review what has
happened.

Learning Style Survey
Assessing Your Own Learning Styles
The Learning Style Survey is designed to assess your general
approach to learning. It does not predict your behavior in every instance,
but it is a clear indication of your overall style preferences. For each item,
mark your response with ‘x’ that represents your approach. Complete all
items. When you read the statements, try to think about what you usually
do when or during learning. It typically takes about 10 minutes to complete
the survey. Do not spend too much time on any item, indicate your
immediate feeling and move on to the next item.

Learning Styles Explanation
The VAKAT learning styles model suggests that most people can be
divided into one of the three preferred styles of learning. These three styles
are as follows, and there is no right or wrong learning style.
Visual Learning Style
● Has preference for those that can be seen or observed things
● Including: pictures, diagrams, demonstrations, displays, handouts,
films, flipchart, etc.
● Use phrases such as ‘show me’, let’s have a look at that
● Best able to perform a new task after reading the instructions or
watching someone else do it first.
● These are the people who will work from lists and written directions
and instructions.
Auditory Learning Style
● Has preference for the transfer of information through listening

● Thru: to the spoken word, of self or others, of sounds and noises.
● Use phrases such as ‘tell me’, ‘let’s talk it over’
● Best able to perform a new task after listening to instructions from an
expert.
● These are people who were happy being given spoken instructions
over the telephone and can easily remember the words of the songs
that they hear.
Kinesthetic Learning Style
 Has preference for physical experience
 Thru: touching, feeling, holding, doing, practical hands-on
experiences.
 Use phrases such as ‘let me try’, ‘how do you feel?’
 Best able to perform a new task by going ahead and trying it out, likes
learning by doing.
 People who like to experiment, hands-on, and never look at the
instructions first.
Activist Learning Style
● Enjoy participating in discussions, debates, and group activities.
● Learn best when they can directly experience or practice new skills
and concepts.
● Value the exchange of ideas, feedback, and shared learning
experiences.
● Not afraid to take risks, make mistakes, and learn from their
experiences.
● Typically energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about learning.
Theorist Learning Style
● Has preference for understanding concepts and theories in a
systematic and logical manner.
● Often enjoy analyzing information, organizing it into coherent
frameworks, and exploring underlying principles.
