issue pertaining to your respective internship. The paper’s general topic will be determined and agreed to by
the intern supervisor and student. The topic should be beneficial to the company and educational to the
student. Once the general topic is determined, the student is expected to define the research problem
(problem statement), collect the necessary data, and report on the findings. The length of the paper is not
specified; however, quality is preferred over quantity. It is expected that papers should be at least 15+ pages
long (not including cover page, references, or appendices). Finally, it is required that the paper/project and
findings will be presented to the internship supervisor by the student.
Tutorial – For more information about the research paper, please see the online video tutorial on iLearn.
Format – The final paper/project format should be double-spaced using 12-point Times New Roman font

example, what are competitors doing? What is the marketplace currently doing or headed?
What happens if this isn’t addressed? How important, influential, or popular is this problem?
Would research findings lead to some useful change in best practice? If a study, for instance,
is researching management stress in a hotel, why is this needed? Is there turnover? Low
morale? Answer the “So what?” question, why is this topic worthy of investigating.
b. Statement of the Research Problem – Provide a brief discussion of the specific topic that
will be investigated and addressed and why it is important. (e.g., What is the problem? Why is
this problem worth investigating? Be clear about the problem statement and most importantly

Dissertation Structure GuidelinesIt will be important to setDustiBuckner14
Dissertation Structure Guidelines
It will be important to set some broad guidelines and ground rules as well as highlighting the dissertation structure that your supervisors would like their students to adhere to. Suffice to say these issues have already been highlighted and discussed with you in detail in your PRISM unit.
In summary, when you start working on your dissertation and develop your thinking and findings a bit more, you may wish to have a chat with your supervisor; a call or Skype or using some other online tool. Also a good idea to send your supervisor your chapters as you complete them so that they can provide their comments as you make progress on other chapters. However please consult your supervisor if he/she wishes to consider an alternative approach.
There is a document called Assessment Guidelines on this Moodle site that gives a very brief outline of the suggested chapters involved in your dissertation and an idea of the number of words that are usually expected in each chapter.
In the meantime, as far as your dissertation structure is concerned, let us just remind you that as a general rule, we would suggest the following chapters and sections for your thesis.
-Title: A clear, concise statement of the topic.
-Abstract: The abstract is a summary of the whole dissertation. It presents all the major elements of your work in a highly condensed form. Maximum of 500 words.
- Contents page: clearly describing chapters and any sub-sections and related page numbers.
- Acknowledgement- Chapter 1 - Introduction: You need to set the scene for your dissertation, tell a story by providing some background to the importance of your chosen subject. You should also make your aims and objectives of the report very clear, by for example providing half a dozen bullets clearly describing what you have in mind and what you wish to explore. You should clearly state your "Research Question (s)" and state why your research is important, what is the research gap, how it contributes to the body of knowledge and potentially it’s significance to the practitioner’s world, and, what benefit will be achieved in carrying out your chosen piece of work.
- Chapter 2 - Literature Survey (LR): This is a very important part of your dissertation (particularly if you only rely on acquiring secondary data and body of knowledge). The aim will be for you to provide robust and credible literature relating to the subject matter. Use of some models/frameworks is encouraged. You will also get a better mark by providing a sound critic in your LR, i.e. what you agree with and what you don't, and, the reasons behind your argument/rationale.
- Chapter 3 - Research Methodology: Here you should describe the methodology used in gathering the data and information. You should make reference to both the primary, if any, (interviews, questionnaire, case study ...) and, secondary research methods (literature review and library based work...). You should also describe an ...

All projects must entail
original research and writing, defined as meeting the following criteria:
· The research project has not been previously conducted. If the study is a replication study, it must not have been previously conducted on the project subjects or the agency unless the project involves longitudinal studi.

MBA Capstone Project Description
MBA Capstone Project Description
Throughout your MBA program, you have worked to develop as a business professional and
prepare to meet future challenges as a business leader. Your program culminates in the
capstone project, which forms the primary focus of MBA-FPX5910, the final course you will take
in the program. The capstone project is intended to provide you the opportunity to demonstrate
your MBA program outcomes by:
• Planning and executing the strategic and tactical elements of a comprehensive project.
• Integrating and demonstrating the business leadership skills and techniques you have
learned throughout the MBA program.
• Communicating your analysis and recommendations for a real organization both in
written form and in a formal presentation.
• Completing your MBA program with an experience that reinforces and integrates what
you have learned throughout your MBA program.
The following information outlines the requirements and work associated with the capstone
project for MBA-FPX5910.
Capstone Project Examples
You have a wide variety of choice when it comes to choosing a capstone project that is
personally interesting and rewarding to you. It is your responsibility to propose a capstone topic
and scope that will allow you to demonstrate all of the MBA program outcomes.
Examples of project types that might be proposed to meet these requirements include, but are
not limited to:
• A strategic plan developed for an organization to use that helps them solve a problem or
take advantage of an opportunity.
• A strategic analysis conducted on a selected part or area of an organization.
• A case study developed on a selected part of or situation within an organization.
• An intervention developed to address an organizational issue; for example, a workshop
or training activity. The intervention should be broad-based enough to demonstrate the
program-level outcomes.
• A consulting report developed to analyze a problematic issue within an organization; the
issue and analysis should be broad-based enough to demonstrate program-level
outcomes.
You may propose other project types for the capstone project so long as you are able to identify
how the proposed project satisfies the requirement of demonstrating the program-level
outcomes. When choosing your project type and/or topic, keep in mind that it must result in
recommendations, next steps, or some other type of actionable, evidence-based takeaways for
your intended audience, user, or subject of the project.
2
Capstone Project Selection and Proposal Guidelines
The organization must be real, not fictitious. This may be an organization to which you have
direct access for data gathering or one for which you will gather data via published sources. In
either case, it must be an organization for which you can gather the data needed to complete
the project. If need be, you may be allowed to use a disg.

On June 12, 2017, GE announced that 30-year GE veteran and current President and CEO of GE Healthcare John Flannery would be replacing Jeff Immelt as CEO of the company as of August 1, 2017. Immelt had been the CEO for 16 years, taking over that role from the iconic Jack Welch. GE stated that the announcement was the culmination of a six-year succession planning process for the company's top spot. Flannery started at GE in 1987 fresh out of Wharton Business School's MBA program and has worked in many positions, including successfully turning around the failing health care division of the company. The Company's CFO Jeff Bornstein was named Vice Chairman. Bornstein was one of three other final candidates considered for the CEO position. Barclays' analyst, Scott Davis, observed that Jeff Immelt has been criticized for his inability to connect with investors, and now many are expecting "fairly dramatic changes" under Flannery.
In a statement from the company, Immelt was quoted as saying he was supportive of his successor: "John is the right person to lead GE today. He has broad experience across multiple businesses, cycles, and geographies. He has a track record of success and led one of our most essential businesses," Immelt said. "Most important are his strong leadership traits-good judgment, resilience, a learner, team builder, and a tough-minded individual and competitor. He will be trusted by investors, our customers and the GE team."
GE's Market Cap at $153.6 Billion, while greater than 93 percent of the rest of the companies in the S&P 500, has dropped $240 billion in the last 10 years. Analysts at Seeking Alpha issued a statement saying that: "General Electric has gotten absolutely crushed over the last two days, falling 15 percent from $20.50 down to $17.50. GE's peak of the current bull market for the S&P 500 came on July 20th of last year (2016), but since then it's down 47 percent. Even more shocking is that at $17.50, GE's share price is trading at the same level it was at 20 years ago in early 1997. Of course, there have been dividends paid, but it's not a good look for a company when share price is unchanged on a 20-year basis.â€
On the GE July 21, 2017, second-quarter earnings call with financial analysts and investors, Flannery stated that, while he does not officially start his new role as CEO until August 1, he was already underway conducting a "deep dive" into all the business areas within GE.$ He stated, "In addition to the business reviews, I want to repeat the process I used in healthcare to really get out and listen to what people are thinking, good and .

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

frequently required to undertake business planning, project and consultancy work in addition
to their core responsibilities. Frequently, these projects are focused upon investigating new
business opportunities or potential strategic changes in order to create, retain and extend
2. competitive position.
The assessment task is to produce a 7500 words (±10%) research project report based on an
independent research, which investigates a business/organisational or management problem,
2
issue or challenge, applies appropriate research techniques and analysis, and consequently
informs the development of a business plan and/ or results in recommendations for change.
Where the submission exceeds the stipulated word limit by more than 10%, the submission will
only be marked up to and including the additional 10%. Anything over this will not be included
in the final grade for the assessment item. Abstracts, bibliographies, reference lists, appendices
and footnotes are excluded from any word limit requirements.
Where a submission is notably under the word limit, the full submission will be marked on the
extent to which the requirements of the assessment brief have been met.
Additional Guidance
Projects should be submitted with the UoN Faculty of Business & Law Ethics Form which has
been signed by your project supervisor. The blank Ethics Form, sample Participant Information
and Consent Forms/ Templates are available at the end of this assignment brief. Please see
NILE for additional guidance about appendices.

business-related problems, plans and issues.
b) Evaluate and implement appropriate research methodologies to examine management and
3. business-related issues.
c) Enact appropriate ethical standards and use suitable tools to collect quantitative and
qualitative data.
d) Demonstrate the ability to link question formulation or research aim and objectives to data
analyses, interpretations and implication of results.
Employability & Changemaker Skills
e) Define and express succinct and measurable targets, within business and organisational
contexts.
Your grade will depend on the extent to which you meet these learning outcomes in the way
relevant for this assessment. Please see the grading rubric on NILE for further details of
the criteria against which you will be assessed.
