The document discusses various aspects of communication between people, including conversations, equality, impromptu speaking, recognizing voices, and how the internet makes lives easier. It also defines some key terms like hyperlink and hierarchy.
Competent communication means more than just articulating thoughts clearly. It involves understanding different communication styles, avoiding unconscious pitfalls when conveying information, and applying ground rules to overcome barriers. Specifically, it means acknowledging that styles affect understanding, processing information can be improved, and rules are needed to communicate effectively. Fundamentally, competent communication challenges traditional ideas and means improving how people listen and talk to one another.
The document discusses the impact of networked conversations online. People sharing information over the internet are enabling new forms of knowledge exchange and social organization. As a result, markets are becoming smarter and more informed as people rely more on each other's opinions than corporate rhetoric. There are no secrets as the networked market knows more than companies about their own products. Similarly, employees connected over internal networks experience the same transparency and are expressing their true feelings rather than corporate voices.
The document discusses the importance of open conversation within companies and with the market. It states that command-and-control management styles breed paranoia and kill conversation, both internally and externally. This leads to failure as conversations within the company and with the market want to communicate but are unable to due to outdated notions of strict hierarchy and a lack of trust. For companies to succeed, they must encourage open conversation among employees and with customers.
Human Resource Systems (HRS) refers to the intersection of human resource management and information technology. HRS consists of electronically tracking and storing employee data like personal histories, skills, and salaries to automate manual HR processes. Key HRS modules include payroll, work time, benefits administration, recruitment, and training management. HRS benefits organizations by reducing paper-based HR administration that can consume up to 80% of department time, while offering employees self-service benefits administration and information updates.
1) In the future, the formal and artificial language used by businesses to communicate with their markets will seem outdated as connections between businesses and consumers increase through the internet.
2) Companies that still use traditional marketing approaches like advertisements are no longer effectively communicating with their markets.
3) Many companies do not understand that today's markets are highly connected through online networks and social media, making them more knowledgeable than companies may realize.
4) The internet now allows companies to directly communicate with consumers, but they need to effectively engage with markets or it could be their last chance to connect.
1) Companies should focus on building genuine relationships with their markets through straight talk and humility rather than arrogant boasting or distant language.
2) Marketing programs are often based on fear and used to cover up what is really happening inside companies rather than informing the public about products and services.
3) To be successful, companies need to understand and engage with what their markets actually care about rather than positioning themselves without input from customers.

This document discusses the key aspects and needs of modern application performance monitoring (APM) solutions. APM solutions need to automatically adapt to complex, changing IT architectures and provide both a wide overview for operations as well as deep code-level insights for developers. They must also generate actionable alerts to help narrow down issues while avoiding false alarms that could be ignored or disturb teams.

1) The document discusses corporate intranets and how companies typically implement them from the top-down rather than allowing bottom-up engagement from employees.
2) It argues that intranets should encourage open conversations between workers to generate knowledge, rather than being constrained by rules and control from management.
3) When intranets allow for free conversation without fear or strict rules, the discussions can resemble open marketplace exchanges and help companies understand customers better.

1. The document discusses how companies need to adapt their marketing strategies to the new online marketplace where customers are more connected and informed through social media.
2. It notes that assuming online markets are the same as traditional TV and print advertising is a mistake, as customers can now easily interact, share information, and find alternatives.
3. The document advises companies to directly communicate and build relationships with customers online, and to lighten up their messaging, as their audiences are more engaged and able to see through inauthentic or self-serious communications.

The document discusses the need for companies to build trust and loyalty with their customers/markets. It makes three key points:
1) There is now a gap between companies and their markets as markets have become smarter through networking. Customers are able to change suppliers and brands quickly.
2) To be successful, companies need to learn how to communicate with their markets in a human voice by caring about their communities and experiencing things from their perspective.
3) Companies must establish themselves as part of a community in order to understand their markets and speak their language.
