Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

النتوركنق توبيك كبير.. وممكن نضلنا طول البرنامج بنحكي بس عن النتوركنق.. لكن احنا هناخد من هالموضوع شيء عملي... الشيء اللي بهمكم بالوقت الحالي..

الافنت او الميتنق معظم الوقت بكون فرصة وحدة.. فرصة لمرة واحدة لتطلع منها بالفايدة القصوى.. وهو افضل مكان لتعمل فيه نتوركنق... لانو الحاضرين بكونو كلهم منفتحين ليتعرفو عاشخاص اخرين ويشاركو كنتاكت انفورميشن تعتهم..
ولأنها فرصة لمرة وحدة.. معناه لازم تحضرلها كويس..
وما هو بالضرورة يكون اللقاءات اللي بحضرها فقط تقنية.. .. انا بدي افكر وين ممكن الاقي الزباين المحتملين.. ممكن يكون افنت في مجال الإدارة .. وانا بستهدف فيه الشركات والمؤسسات..
اول خطوة للتحضير للافنت هي اني اعرف مين اللي رايح عالافنت.. سواء كان اعلان الافنت عالفيس بوك او عميت اب.. هيظهر قأئمة الأشخاص اللي رايحين عالافنت.. وهأي معلومات مجانية ممكن تحصل عليها من الافنت وممكن نستفيد منها
بعد معرفت مين الحضور بدي ابدا اصنف الحضور مثلا
فرونت اند دفلوبرز
مهندسين معمارين
مصممين جرافيك
مصممين ويب
بعدها احدد مين الفئات اللي ممكن استفيد منها.. ممكن يكون بالنسبالي كمبرمج ويب.. الجرافيك ديزاين.. لانو الشخص اللي بعملو الشعار هيحتاج غالبا بعد هيك موقع .. فممكن يكونو هدول التارقت تعتي..
بعد محددت قأئمة الناس اللي بدي استهدفها باللقاء.. مهم ادرس هدول الأشخاص.. اشوف شو بحكو عالسوشيال ميديا.. اعرف عنهم اكتر.. مثلا محمد كاتب عن موضوع شراء الفيس بوك للوتس اب..
ممكن اروح اقرأ عن الموضوع ولما اشوفو بالافنت افتح هالموضوع هلاقي محمد بتفاعل معي بشكل كبير لانو اظهر اهتمامو مسبقا بهالموضوع.. وهبشعر انو حبني اكتر.. وممكن يقضي معي وقت أطول لانو وجد انا بنتشارك بعض الأفكار..
مهم تاخد وقتك وانتا بتحدد مين هدول الأشخاص اللي بدك تستهدفهم.. لا تشتغل بشكل عشوائي.. لانو هتضيع الفائدة من اللقاء..
صنف الناس اللي حاضرة.. من ثم هحدد شو التصنيفات اللي ممكن تفيدني بهالافنت... هبدا احدد مين اكتر الشخصيات اللي مندرجة تحت هالتصنيف ممكن تفيدني بشكل اكبر..
هركز عالناس الناجحة.. الناس اللي ممكن بعد هيك يجيني منها كلينتس كويسين..
قبل ما تفكركيف بدي اصل لغايتي من التارقت، لازم تفكر كيف تفيدهم.. لانو ما في حدن هيكون مهتم بشخص متطفل.. يجي يطلب منو خدمة ما!
ممكن انا كجرافيك ديزاينر الاحظ انو الصورة الشخصية للتارقت تعتي الوانها فاتحة وفيها مشكلة بالإضاءة ..ممكن اعمل عليها لمسة لتصير افضل.. وبروفشنال اكتر..
فاروح معدل الصورة تعتو ومرسلو إياها.. هيك هيحس الشخص انو مدين لالك.. وهيحاول يردلك الخدمة وقت ما تسمحلو الفرصة..
ولو انتا حطيت النقاط عالحروف وحكتلو في محادثات لاحقة انو ممكن تفرودو عملاء عبعض.. لو حد اجاك بدو تصميم تبعتلو إياه.. ولو حد بدو برمجة هو يبعتلك إياه.. هيك انا بكون استفدت عملاء من خلال هالشخص وفتحت قناة للشغل بينا.. بهيك بنطلع بعلاقة وين تو وين.. وهو ما هيشعر انك بتستغلو
قبل متحضر الافنت.. ابدا المحادثة من السوشيال ميديا.. ممكن تبعت مسج للشخص اللي انتا مهتم فيه... وتحكيلو انا هكون حاضر في الافنت وهكون حابب نحكي سوا.. وبهيك بكون اسهل عليك في الافنت تبدا تحكي معو اول متشوفو..
لا تكون خجول من التواصل مع التارقت تعتك.. انتا مش محتاج تكون خبير في مجال التواصل مشان تحكي مع حد.. فقط اسمع اكتر واسأل اكتر واترك المجال للي قدامك يحكي..
بادر اول بالتعرف.. لا تنتظر الشخص الاخر يجي يتعرف عليك وخلي مدخل الحديث يجب ان يكون بمشاركة الشخص افكارو.. لكن الخطوة التالية لازم ابدا احكي عن البزنس.. مشان اصل للي بدي إياه.. وافرجيه قديش انا مميز بشغلي.. هيك ممكن يعرفني اكتر وممكن بعد هيك لما يجيه زبون يعملو فورورد علي..
أحاول ابرز نفسي اكتر باللقاء؟ ممكن اضيف بوست عالقروب.. بسيلفي مع كمن شخص تعرفت عليهم باللقاء.. واكتب نص.. تعرفت على ناس مميزين من عدة تخصصات! محمد مهندس معماري.. خالد رسام... الخ وبعملهم تاق..اللي هيشوف البوست في الافنت هيبدا يطلع وين فلان.. وهاي فرصة كويسة لتوسع دائرة الناس اللي بتتعرف عليهم خلال الافنت.
لو بتعرف حدن بعرف التارقت تاعك، حاول تستخدمه ليعرفك عليه.. هيك هتتعرفو بسرعة اكبر
ولازم تفكر انو كيف ممكن اخلي هأي المحادثة تنتقل معي لما بعد الافنت او المييتنق.. ممكن واحنا بنتحدث نفتح موضوع تول معينة او مقال معين.. فاروح احكيلو.. برسلك إياه اليوم.. تفرج عليه كتير ممتاز.. وأول مروح بروح مرسلو إياه.. وممكن ارسلو كمن اعمل واقلو انا اشتغلت هأي الاعمال بهأي التول.. قلي شو رأيك... هيك حولت حديثنا لعلاقة بزنس.. وفرجيتو شغلي.. بعد هيك ممكن اتفق معه انو يرسلي اي حد بدو تصميم او برمجة..
لما تحضر الافنت ركز عالهدف اللي انتا جأي مشانو.. انتا جأي مشان شغلة وحدة.. مشان تعمل نتوركنق مع ناس معينين، فلا تضيع وقتك مع أصدقاء انتا الريدي بتعرفهم او مع ناس انتا عارف انو مش هيكون في منهم منفعة...
لا تحاول تشبك مع الكل، لو أعطيت كل شخص خمس دقايق وانتقلت لغيرو معناه مش هتلحق تبني علاقة قوية مع الشخص اللي بدك إياه... وهتكون هشة.. ركز عالسكسز لست اللي حكينا فيها.. الباقي هامش ما بهمني محتواه.. فقط في كل لقاء بدي اركز عاتنين تلاتة.. مش اكتر من هيك.. هدول المهمين بالنسبالي
العلاقات المثمرة ما بتنبنى من جلسة واحدة.. فلازم تجدول عالقوقل كالندر تاسك أسبوعية لتضلك متابع مع التارقت تعتك.. اول مرة أرسلت لنك عن شيء تحدثتو فيه واستفدت من الموضوع لتفرجيه اعمالك..
المرة التالية ممكن تسألو عن مدى استفادتو من التدريب.. والبروقريس اللي عاملينو.. وتتبادلو خبرات.. المشاريع اللي شغال عليها.. وتحاول توجه الأمور لتبني علاقة رابحة للطرفين
