Tourism can have both positive and negative social impacts. Positively, tourism can change employment patterns and increase income and standards of living as people are exposed to new jobs, lifestyles, and ideas. However, tourism can also cause resentment from locals sharing resources, rise in materialism and crime rates, threats to local culture as native languages decline, and rising property values.

Jennifer Szabo is a humanitarian aid worker, researcher, and activist. Aid workers aim to improve quality of life for less fortunate people and must be able to work with different cultures. Researchers develop strategies to find and analyze information from various sources to write summaries and analyses. Earnings for aid workers range from unpaid volunteer positions to over $100,000 as a director, depending on the level of experience and responsibilities.
Paul Long: Culturing communities? Understanding intermediation and locality
This document discusses a research project exploring how cultural intermediation connects communities to the creative economy. Lee's model of migration proposes that people move due to push and pull factors. People evaluate the push and pull factors of different locations along with any intervening obstacles like distance or borders to determine if the factors are strong enough to force or entice migration, or if closer intermediate locations are preferable.

The Impact of Media Censorship on Cuban Youth Politics
