The Point Boro Panthers swept Pinelands in two games to win the American Legion Ocean County baseball tournament. In the first game, Mark Leyble hit a three-run home run and later added a two-RBI single as Boro won 6-4. In the second game, Josiah Gliddon pitched a complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts to earn MVP honors as Boro won 3-0. This is the first time since 1994 that Point Boro has won the tournament.

It happened just past midnight on the East Coast, 34 years to the day the last time a World Series game concluded like this. There are so many possible outcomes for the final play of a baseball game. It's a testament to how good players are that what unfolded in the earliest hours of Sunday morning was so jaw-dropping, an unforgettable October moment, when a fielding error ends a World Series game.

Wacha, Adams lift the Cardinals to even series versus Reds
CINCINNATI – Michael Wacha out dueled Reds ace Johnny Cueto with a little help from the bullpen and Matt Adams who entered the series hitless. Adams would end his 0-9 season starting slump by blasting a home run that provided the go ahead run as St. Louis defeated Cincinnati, 4-1. The game was played at the great American ball park in Cincinnati where the Reds lost their first match of the season. While things wouldn’t start off promising as Wacha was beat by Todd Frazier for a home run in the first inning he was not rattled. Wacha managed to shut down the Reds for the following 6 1/3 innings.
Wacha wasn’t without struggle as Cincinnati’s potent offense would come within striking distance on numerous occasions however; Wacha worked his way out of these jams and stranded 3 Reds at 3rd base and another at the 2nd. Wacha said that he was able to pitch out of the troubling moments with the Reds in the scoring position and added that the success was attributed by the defense that was behind him.
Adams started the season 0-for -9 with 4 strikeouts so a matchup versus Cincinnati’s ace didn’t look promising. Fortunately Adams would bust out of his slump by seeing Cueto’s 0-1 changeup and sending it to the crowd, much to their dismay with a solo home run onto the netting over the right field netting of the cardinal’s bullpen. This would put up St. Louis 2-1 in the 4th inning and the birds would lead for the rest of the game.
Jhonyy Peralta and Yadier Molina also added RBI singles in the 9th. According to Adams for him to win the matchup he needed to be consistent especially when Cueto lead off with a changeup a pitch that seemed unhittable to Adams during their first series in Chicago.
The Reds have managed to win all four previous games this season by feeding off of their opponent’s bullpen. St. Louis Manager Mike Matheny used five relief pitchers against the final six Cincinnati bats showing no fear after removing Wacha in the 7th inning. The Birds bullpen would reward Matheny’s faith and close the game out with near perfection.
For the Reds, Frazier continues to provide power. He gave the fans something to cheer in spite of a loss in American Ballpark. The Reds also continue to flash their speed and managed to move to 10-for-10 stealing bases on the season even against the highly touted St. Louis catcher Molina. Things are looking good for both clubs, and the division rivalry should be a good one in the NL Central this season.
CARDINALS TAKE THE WIN IN EXTRA INNINGS AGAINST REDS
By: SSSS
Matt Carpenter hits the 2-run homer in the 11th inning that puts the Cardinals two runs over the Cincinnati Reds for the win of 7-5 on Friday April 10, 2015. This incredible game began with Jon Jay, outfielder, making a difficult catch in the bottom of the 1st inning of Brandon Phillips hit to left field. This would have been a double base hit had he not dove for that ball! Carlos Martinez, who .

TOMS RIVER — Last Thursday’s
heavy rainfall ended up making
field conditions unusable in
what would have been the first
game of the American Legion
Ocean County championship.
The game was moved to Friday
evening at Toms River East High
School and Point Boro needed
to beat Mystic Island Post 493
[Pinelands] twice in order to be
crowned champs.
Point Boro finished in first
during the regular season and
navigated their way out of the
loser’s bracket in the county
double elimination tournament
for the chance to play Pinelands.
The Panthers did not squander
the opportunity and beat
Pinelands 6-4 the first game and
3-0 the second game.
This is the first time since
1994 that Point Boro has won
the American Legion county
tournament.
“I played on that team. It’s
come full circle. That’s awe-
some,” said Boro coach David
Drew. “It was nice to be apart of
it in ‘94 and it’s great to bring it
back here with these boys to-
day.”
Josiah Gliddon, a soon to be
junior at Point Boro, pitched the
second game and was awarded
the MVP award for pitching a
complete game shutout with 10
strikeouts.
Tim Rossi pitched the first
game for the Panthers recording
eight strikeouts in the win.
Third baseman Mark Leyble
was hot from batter’s box in
game one. He blasted a three-
run homerun and a two-RBI sin-
gle for five of Borough’s six
runs.
“It was good. It was a fun ex-
perience,” Leyble said after the
championship sweep. “Hopeful-
ly we get to do it again.”
The Panther defense and of-
fense worked well through two
tough games as well as three pri-
or elimination games at the be-
ginning of the week for the well-
deserved trophy.

Boro sweeps Pinelands in championship doubleheader
BY DOMINICK POLLIO
THE OCEAN STAR
TOMS RIVER — It took five
hours of baseball to crown a
champion and after it was all
said and done, the Point Boro
Panthers earned the right to
call themselves champs.
Last Friday they swept
Pinelands in two games 6-4
and 3-0.
GAME ONE
Out of the gate the Point
Boro legion team was fast to
home plate. Pinelands had
managed to secure two outs
but had put two Boro runners
on base. Mark Leyble came
up to bat and blasted a home
run far over the right field
fence to give Boro momen-
tum and a 3-0 lead.
“It felt really good. I’ve
been swinging a lot so it’s
nice that it finally paid off,”
said Leyble. “I felt really re-
laxed and smooth. It felt
nice.”
Pinelands responded with
their turn at bat in the bottom
of the inning. After loading
the bases they booted a sacri-
fice fly ball to center field
that scored one run. Tim
Rossi then recorded his first
strikeout of the game and got
the next batter to groundout
to Thomas Paul at short who
stepped on second for the
third out.
In the bottom of the sec-
ond Pinelands loaded the
bases in similar fashion be-
fore managing an RBI
groundout to second. The
Panther defense managed to
keep Pinelands down to one
run and closed out the inning
with a 3-2 lead.
The Panther bats reignited
in the third inning and two
runners were on base before
Pinelands decided it was
time for a new pitcher. Sebas-
tian Severio reached first on
a Pinelands error to load the
bases for Boro. Leyble
stepped up to the dish and
ripped a two-run single to
deep right field. Ryan Carne
grounded out for the last out
of the inning but Boro had es-
tablished a solid three-run
lead.
With solid defense from
both teams and strong pitch-
ing from Rossi on the rubber,
the score remained 5-2 until
the seventh and final inning.
The Panthers added an in-
surance run in the top of the
seventh. Ryan Sansone, who
was pinch running for Da-
mon Del Priore, stole home
on a bad pitch from
Pinelands to put Boro up 6-2
before the end of their turn at
bat.
In the bottom of the sev-
enth and the last chance for
Pinelands, the Panthers gave
up two doubles to start put-
ting Pinelands runners on
second and third. Rossi then
struck out the next batter be-
fore getting the following hit-
ter to groundout to short.
Paul scooped up the
grounder and smartly threw
to first for the second out as
Pinelands tacked on one
more run to their total.
The Panthers only needed
one more out and Rossi
sealed the deal with a six-
pitch strikeout from the
mound.
Both teams were given 30
minutes to rest before jump-
ing into the next game that
determined the Ocean Coun-
ty tournament winner.
GAME TWO
The second game exhibit-
ed mostly defense and stellar
pitching as the only three
runs scored belonged to
Point Boro and came one in-
ning at a time.
This time the Panthers
were the home team and
started the game on defense.
Both defenses worked their
way out of bases-loaded situ-
ations throughout the first
four innings.
In the bottom of the first
Frank Graziano blasted a
triple to center field and pa-
tiently waited for his oppor-
tunity to touch home.
Pinelands’ pitcher secured a
strikeout but then walked
two Boro batters to load the
bases. Pinelands then worked
out of the jam with another
strikeout and routine fly ball
to center field.
Fast-forward to the fourth
inning, the score was still tied
at zero and Boro found them-
selves in a not so favorable
position. Pinelands had
loaded the bases on a walk, a
single and another walk.
But Josiah Gliddon, who al-
ready tallied up five strike-
outs, was not succumbing to
the pressure. He managed to
get the next batter to fly out
to center field and Graziano’s
throw back home after the
catch kept the runners rooted
to their bags.
Gliddon then rocketed off
three straight strikes for the
second out. On the next pitch
with the new batter Severio,
Boro’s catcher, chucked the
ball to first and Mike Fal-
conetti made the tag to pick

Point Beach
pickleball
for all ages
off the Pinelands runner and
preserve the shutout.
In the bottom of the same
inning the Panthers loaded
the bases again. This time
Leyble was walked, Paul hit a
single to shallow center field
and Carne hit a slow ground
ball to the grass line between
third and short for a single.
Falconetti, Boro’s next bat-
ter, battled his way to a 2-2
count before connecting with
a low pitch. He sent the ball
high to center field for a sac-
rifice fly that scored Leyble
and put the Panthers up 1-0.
In the following inning
Boro tacked on another run
thanks to leadoff hitter
Graziano. This time he got
started with a double to right
field and advanced to third
on a ground out from Bill
Feehan. Pinelands secured
another out and Graziano
was hoping this time he
would make it home.
With Severio back up in
the batter’s box, the
Pinelands pitcher unleashed
a wild pitch that skirted past
the catcher. Graziano turned
on the jets and slid headfirst
into home before the pitcher
could make the tag. Pinelands
eventually closed out the in-
ning and Boro was holding
on to a 2-0 lead.
The Panthers took care of
the next three Pinelands’ bat-
ters in the top of the sixth
and went to work trying to
extend their lead. Carne
earned a walk to start the in-
ning before Falconetti
popped out to the catcher on
a crazy play. The ball soared
straight up into the air and
both the catcher and the
home plate umpire had no
idea where it went. Hang
time was right around four
seconds before it came flying
back down and in the last
moment Pinelands’ catcher
got his glove under it for the
catch.
Boro was not fazed by the
out and Justin Rafi came up
to bat for Kyle Lauria. Rafi
smacked an RBI double to
left field to give the Panthers
one more run. Graziano then
grounded out and all Boro
had left to do was keep
Pinelands from scoring in the
top of the seventh and final
inning.
Pinelands opened the in-
ning with a single and a walk
and tension was mounting.
Gliddon eased that feeling
with two straight strikeouts
and Boro could taste victory.
Pinelands managed a single
on an error that loaded the
bases to create a movie like
scenario. But the script had
been written in Boro’s favor
and Gliddon got the final
Pinelands batter to fly out to
center field where Graziano
made the routine play and
the Panther squad celebrated
their championship.
Severio had no doubts in
his mind that they would end
up on top, saying, “We defi-
nitely thought it was possible.
Everyone’s positive on our
team- we definitely thought it
was possible.”
Rossi was happy they suc-
ceeded working as a team
and was proud of the defense
that helped him out in the
first game.
“I just tried to bear down
and I trusted in my defense
throwing strikes. If they put it
in play my defense helped me
out a lot,” said Rossi. “It felt
really good. This is a good
group of guys and I’m glad
we did it together.”
Coach Drew, who is always
amazed with how his team
battles, was all smiles after
the game.
“It feels great. What a trib-
ute to these kids and battling
every game. We were in an
elimination game five games
in a row and we came out on
top,” Drew said after the win.
“We had great pitching, we
had great defense and timely
hitting. That equals victories
so congratulations to them.”

The Ocean Star
As the American Legion
baseball season ended last
week and the Point Boro
baseball team crowded home
plate, trophy in hand and
medals around necks, I could
not help but think that this
won’t be the last time the
players on the team find suc-
cess.
The Panther team that bat-
tled its way out of the loser’s
bracket in the Ocean County
double elimination tourna-
ment relies heavily on young
talent with the leadership of a
handful of upperclassmen.
But let’s not get confused
here.
Unlike many of the other
New Jersey American Legion
teams, Point Boro, along with
the other Ocean County
teams, do not play with any
college freshmen on their
teams despite playing in the
Senior League, which has an
age rage that allows for fresh-
man college players to partic-
ipate during the summer.
Instead, Boro utilizes the
summer league to develop
young talent and provide
some more exposure for
those players hoping to play
baseball after high school.
This means the team’s age
rage consisted of players en-
tering high school to players
entering their senior year of
high school.
I make a point to share this
information because a lot of
what I observed this summer
season are qualities of a sea-
soned team full of veteran tal-
ent and leadership.
One strong example of this
came late in the season dur-
ing the Ocean County double
elimination tournament. The
Panthers, having earned the
one-seed after winning the
regular season, lost a game
during the first week of tour-
nament play. This dropped
them to the loser’s bracket
where they would have to
win out every game to make it
back to the finals. This also
meant they would have to
beat their finals opponent
twice in order to be crowned
champions.
Well, you all know what
happened. Point Boro won on
Monday. Then on Tuesday.
And again on Wednesday to
claw their way into the finals
against Pinelands [Mystic Is-
land Post 483].
Since it was a double elimi-
nation tournament the Pan-
thers had to defeat Pinelands
twice in order to be crowned
tournament champions.
Thursday’s rain moved the fi-
nals to Friday night and
Boro’s composure, determi-
nation and skill made sure it
was a doubleheader. They
beat Pinelands twice behind
pitching efforts from Tim
Rossi and Josiah Gliddon.
Gliddon, who is going into his
junior year, pitched a spectac-
ular second game shut out, of-
fering a glimpse of what is to
come for the next two high
school seasons.
He is not the only player on
the field that has shown how
good the Panther players can
be.
Kyle Lauria, also going into
his junior year of high school
this fall, has been a vacuum in
the second base position.
Seemingly every ball that has
been hit his way this summer
has been scooped up for an
out. Even if the ball does not
make its way over to a base
for an out, it still ends up in
front of Lauria, which is criti-
cal to keeping base runners
from grabbing extra bases.
During the doubleheader
Mark Leyble, who represents
some of the veteran talent,
blasted a 3-run home run dur-
ing his first at bat and a two
RBI single during his second
at bat. The soon to be senior
has made strong plays at third
base all season and is a strong
lefty presence at the plate.
Sebastian Severio, Boro’s
catcher, will also be a senior
this fall and boasts one of the
strongest arms from behind
the plate. During the second
game he even helped Gliddon
out of a bases-loaded jam by
picking off a runner on first to
end an inning. Severio will be
a big part of Boro’s high
school season after leading
last year’s team in on-base
percentage [.511] and RBIs
[18].
So, are you excited for
spring yet?
The Panther squad has
what it takes and proved it
this summer. They also made
their way to the American Le-
gion state tournament. Al-
though they lost, they held
their own against an always-
strong Hamilton team that
did not even know they were
playing such a young squad.
The other quality this team
holds is that of a calm, light
hearted composure. Even
when they are losing all the
players are relaxed and never
stop playing their game. They
also have an impeccable tal-
ent to get focused when it
matters most but they still
take advantage of any down
time.
Between games in the tour-
nament final, while Pinelands
was sitting in their dugout or
throwing the baseball around,
a handful of Panther players
were partaking in a casual
game of “baseball golf.” It was
entertaining to watch and
they were sharing laughs and
smiles that carried them all
the way to the winner’s circle.
Whatever works, right?
Well, the Point Boro base-
ball team has accomplished a
lot this summer and has even
more to be excited about for
the future. Head coach David
Drew has said multiple times
how excited he is about what
he has seen play out on the di-
amond this summer.
Strong, young talent bol-
stered by quality senior lead-
ership and the love of playing
the game might just be the
recipe Boro needs for a stand-
out baseball season next
spring.

Such was the case Monday
night until Team Shore suf-
fered their first loss of the
night during the third quarter
when Mike Rotando injured
his ankle while putting up a
3-pointer.
Prior to the injury Shore
was holding on to a two-
point lead through the first
and second quarters.
After four minutes of play
in the first quarter both
teams were starting to find a
rhythm. The score was tied 9-
9 before Team Shore fell be-
hind 22-16.
The efforts of Brian Kenny
and a 3-pointer from Rotando
helped Shore tie the game up
at 25. With 35 seconds left on
the clock Kevin Furlong
nabbed a steal and took it the
distance to put Shore up 27-25
at the end of the first quarter.
The game remained close
throughout the second quar-
ter with multiple lead
changes. Shore was holding a
30-29 lead before Stern’s
Trailers’ Neil Thompson
sunk two shots from the
charity stripe for a one-point
lead.
Team Shore earned its way
to a 36-34 lead before Ken
Ohen knotted the game again
with a short jumper. Furlong
answered for Shore with a 3-
pointer- his first of two dur-
ing the game.
By the end of the first half
Team Shore established a 53-
51 lead and showed no signs
of fatigue despite only having
one sub to rotate in. Playing
with six players is something
the team has gotten used to
as members of their team
participate in college work-
outs.
The beginning of the third
quarter saw the two teams
tied once again, this time at
56. Furlong drained another
three, followed by two made
Stern’s Trailers shots to put
Shore behind one point.
Tragedy struck at the 5:46
mark when Rotando put up a
three from the corner while
receiving contact from a
Stern’s Trailers player. A foul
was not called and Rotando
was on the hardwood grasp-
ing his left leg as Stern’s
Trailers went on offense. Af-
ter the ball found its way out
of bounds the injury timeout
commenced.
Eventually, Rotando’s left
foot was put in a boot and he
used crutches to make his
way off the court for further
evaluation. After a visit to the
doctor later in the week, the
injury was diagnosed as a
sprained ankle. This left
Team Shore without any subs
for the rest of the game.
Head coach Ralph Rotando
was not quick to place blame
on the loss of subs though,
saying, “Our guys can go.
Mentally it does nothing to
them; it’s the battle on the
boards. The job we were do-
ing on the defensive back-
board ultimately was the de-
ciding factor.”
Following the injury Team
Shore kept the game close
and even took a one-point
lead. But Stern’s Trailers’
fresh legs prevailed and with
less than three minutes to go
in the third quarter they put
together a 12-5 run to close
out the quarter up 78-68.
Trouble continued for
Shore in the fourth and final
quarter where rebounds were
few and far between. Stern’s
Trailers took advantage of the
situation, putting up 33 points
to Shore’s 27. Stern’s Trailers
eventually claimed the 111-95
victory and Team Shore
closed out their summer sea-
son.
Roy Mabrey finished with
a game-high 34 points and
Rotando chipped in 14 before
his injury. Neil Thompson led
Stern’s Trailers with 27 points
while Deon Jones added 24.
Coach Rotando was happy
to have Mabrey on the team
all season, saying, “He’s a
tremendous player. A guy
that got missed on the Divi-
sion I level. He’s a self-made
player and he works hard
everyday. He’s learned a lot-
not only ways to score the
ball but he gets the ball out to
everyone else.”
Team Shore finished with
an overall record of 3-8 but
was still a team that no one
really wanted to go up
against. For Coach Rotando
and the rest of Team Shore, it
was never really about win-
ning it all. It was about devel-
oping quality basketball play-
ers.
“We play the game the
right way. We share the bas-
ketball, we don’t care who
scores and we play defense,”
Rotando stated. “On most
nights we outwork teams.”
The 2015 Jersey Shore Bas-
ketball League championship
game was played last night
between Stern’s Trailers and
Larson Ford. Both teams fin-
ished first in their respective
divisions. Full coverage will
be available in the next issue
of our sister paper, The Coast
Star.

Fluke fishing has been the
go to fish in the last week as
plenty of shorts are being
caught along with some
keepers. Short to keeper ratio
however is about 15 to 1. The
keepers that have been
caught are in the 5-7 lb
ranges. The rough spots in
northern Monmouth county
ocean waters from Deal up to
the Rattlesnake area are pro-
ducing best.
At this time of year fluke
fishing for anglers fishing
over the rail at the
Manasquan Inlet is usually
good but to date it is not.
This is in spite of plenty of
bait in the form of spearing
that is all over the inlet wall.
There are snappers present
there at this time so the kids
can start to have some fun
catching them.
The winner of the JCAA
21st Annual Fluke
Tournament held this past
weekend was Dan Nykyforuk
of Manchester with a 10.72 lb.
fluke fishing out of the Sandy
Hook port. Out of the
Manasquan River port 1st
place Robert Murdza from
Wall 6.29lbs, 2nd place Mario
Riccio from Brick 6.19 lbs,
3rd place John Catalano from
Manahawkin 6.12 lbs. Out of
the Shark River Port 1st place
Craig Kutiak from Jersey City
7.45 lbs, 2nd place John
Henry from Robbinsville 6.52
lbs, 3rd place Steve Kwack
5.71 lbs.
Bluefishing remain a mys-
tery as some days the party
boats find them and on other
days they come up empty. At
this time of year 6-12 lb blues
are usually found on the tra-
ditional spots such as the
Klondike, Mud Buoy, 17
Fathoms, west side of the
Mud Hole, and the Shark
River Reef. But such is not
the case and many charter
captains and boaters are
scratching their heads as
they try to put together a
catch.
On the midshore grounds
the bluefin tuna bite is still a
far ride out to the area of the
Virginia to the Bacardi and
then down to the Texas
Tower. Inshore of that
around the Chicken Canyon
and Princess Lump not much
is happening as the water is
green. The bluefin are in the
44-inch range and there are
some small yellowfin in the
same area.
The Manasquan River
Marlin and Tuna Club will be
holding the 35th annual
Offshore Open August 29th
through September 5th. The
captain’s meeting will be
held at the host marina
Crystal Point on Friday
August 28 at 6:30pm. Weigh-
ins are nightly at Brielle
Yacht Club in Brielle.
The tournament provides
anglers with the opportunity
to fish two separate days or
one overnighter during the
course of the week. Once
again, the Ray Catena Auto
Group is the presenting
sponsor and has offered the
Ray Catena Audi Challenge-
a $4,000 cash award to the
largest yellowfin. This is in
addition to the Comstock
challenge, awarding $4,000
to the largest longfin. These
awards are included in the
base entry. The tournament
offers Calcuttas for every eli-
gible specie with this year’s
estimated payout to exceed
$175,000. Last year’s tourna-
ment paid over $165,000 to
the winners and raised funds
for numerous fishing and
conservation related chari-
ties, including the RFA, RFA-
NJ, the Catch a Dream
Foundation, Menhaden
Defenders, Re-Clam the Bay,
NJ Beach Buggy Association
and the George Burlew
Scholarship Fund, providing
scholarships to marine biolo-
gy graduate students. The
base entry fee is still $500
which provides tickets to the
captain’s meeting, awards
dinner and the entry for the
tuna category. The all-in
Calcutta fee is $3,200. Go to
www.mrmtc.com/offshore-
open for further details”.
The next meeting of the
Manasquan Fishing Club will
be this Friday 7:30 p.m. at the
Manasquan Woman’s Club,
62 Main St., Manasquan.
Dave Arbeitman from the
Reel Seat in Brielle
www.reelseat.com will be the
guest speaker discussing off-
shore tile fishing. Dave is
probably the best tile fisher-
man I know and will provide
you with a wealth of informa-
tion. The club is also looking
for volunteers to assist with
Big Sea Day on August 8th.

Bob over at Fishermen’s
Den in Belmar reports “Fluke
fishing is on a roller coaster
ride this season as one week
fishing is good and the next
poor. This past weekend was
good with some nice fish
taken. Josh Early had a 7 lb 9
oz fluke. Ashley Bookholdt
from Hamilton had a 6 lb 10
oz fluke and earlier this week
Al Hilton had an 8 lb 8 oz
fluke. We also saw a good
mix of fish weighed in for the
JCAA tournament. The fish
ranged from 3 lbs to 7 lbs.
The bluefish are also unpre-
dictable. Last Saturday night
the fish were taken in better
numbers but were small.
Then another day the fishing
saw small numbers taken but
large bluefish. Thomas
Melito had a 19 lb 14 oz blue-
fish on the Miss Belmar. We
don't understand the swings
in this year’s fishing but hope
they change. Snappers and
fluke in the rivers are a good
choice for families with chil-
dren. There are plenty of fish
though the size is a factor as
75% of the fluke are short.
Hope all are having a good
summer, Bob”.
Capt Howard Bogan of the
Big Jamaica out of Brielle
reports “We had plenty of
action this past weekend.
When we first arrived it
looked good. We read plenty
of fish and they started biting
right away. The action
slowed even though we read
and saw plenty of fish in the
slick. We picked away all day
until the last hour when they
turned on and everyone
caught fish.
We caught small blues and
mackerel. Saturday night was
also good for small blues and
mackerel. The pool winner
was Rene Agosto from
Philadelphia with a 3 lb blue-
fish. It was another beautiful
day and everyone on board
children, novices, and experi-
enced anglers caught plenty
of fish. The Big Jamaica is
scheduled to sail every day at
7:30 a.m. Night trips will sail
Thursday, Friday, and
Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
We also have space avail-
able for the Family fun trips
sailing 4:30 p.m. Sunday,
Monday, Tuesday, and
Wednesday. Fish and
Fireworks trips sail every
Thursday through August.
Call for special package rates
for the Family Fun trips and
the Fish and Fireworks trips.

website at

Capt. Ryan of the Jamaica
II out of Brielle reports
“Mixed fishing results again
this week with some trips
very good and some trips
slow due to poor drifting
conditions. Friday afternoon
was particularly good when
the breeze came up and a
number of fluke limits were
caught. Bob Plasket of
Medford, Ernie Grimes of
Waretown, Dave Nelson of
Princeton, Sal Munson of
Manchester, and Brian Topps
of Burlington all had fluke
limits up to 7-1/2 lbs. They
also had numerous sea bass.
The July monthly pool was
split even between Barbara
Berger of Trenton and Ray
Bryant of South Orange.
They had identical 8 lb fluke
to win and split the cash as
well as the grand prize of
splitting one year of free fish-
ing on the Jamaica II.
We are sailing Half Day
Fluke/Seabass daily except
Monday from 8:00 a.m. and
2:00 p.m. Sailing All Day
Fluke Marathon every
Monday 7:30 a.m., Capt
Ryan”.
