Academic English
• Target: All first year students at The University of
Auckland.
3. • DELNA is a two step process:
1. The DELNA screening
- 30 minutes
- ‘quick health check’ of language skills
- assess on vocab and reading
2. The DELNA diagnosis
- depends on screening result
- 2 hour
- reading, listening and writing

• DELNA is a good initiative from the university
in helping the students to cope with the
language demands of their degree
programme..
• As it guides the student to the most
appropriate English Language programme, it
also shows the faculty in which areas the
students may need help.
