2. INSTRUCTIONS FOR SENDING ULTRASOUND IMAGES INTO
MEDIMATRIX (PERMANENT STORAGE) USING OMNIVUE
PART 1 – Sending images from USB into Omnivue
1) First load your images from the ultrasound machine unto a USB and
insert the USB into the computer.
2) Click on the Omnivue Icon on the computer desktop.
3) Click on the red “X” in the upper right-hand corner in order to exit
out of the first white screen that pops up.
4) A black screen will remain. Click on “FILE” tab then “OPEN DICOM
FILE”.

3. 5) A box will appear – using the drop down arrow find your USB.

6) Using the drop down arrow next to “FILES OF TYPE” find “ALL FILES”.
7) Now highlight “GEMS_IMG” and hit “OPEN”
***A list of images will appear - note the timestamp on the right side of
each image number – if you send your images to your USB throughout
the day then each study will have different time – Ex: first study may
have timestamp 10:31 to 10:32 –then next study was loaded at 12:04
etc. This will enable you to find all images associated with each study
easily.***
4. 8) Click on the first image and scroll down till you find the last image
with the same time stamp (might be a min later) -This is your first set of
images. Click on the last image in that set using “SHIFT” + “ENTER”
which will highlight all the images in that study.
9) Click “OPEN”.

Now you are ready to send that set of images… The black screen will
remain.
10) Click “FILE” then “IMPORT”

5. 11) A new box will appear – you must change the study ID for each
exam or it will not go into the permanent storage system. The ID
number can be found on the Provisional or it is the last 6 digits of the
Access number which is found right below the study ID space on this
screen.

The “Study ID” is the last 6
digits of the Access Number;
***This is also where you can change any patient information that may
be incorrect Ex Pt ID, Access Number, Date of Birth etc***
6. 12) When you are finished and all information is correct Click “OK”. A
new box will appear asking if you want to continue. Click “YES”.
This will take you back to the black screen. You will find several rows of
icons on the left-hand side:
13) Click on the first icon in the first row / first column from the left. If
you hover over the icon it will say: (FILE)

7. This will open another box:
14) Click on “SAVE CHANGES AND CLOSE EXAM”
You can now “X” out of the screen that appears.
***If you have more than one exam to send go back and repeat the
process only this time start with your second timestamp Ex 12:04 (using
my earlier example) until you reach the next major time difference***
PART 2 – Sending images from Omnivue to Medimatrix
(permanent storage)
When all your studies have been sent to OMNIVUE they now can be
sent to the permanent storage system (Medimatrix).
8. 15) Once you have imported all of your images you will be taken back
to the black screen. Click “FILE” then “OPEN WORKLIST”. A white
screen will appear.
16) Click on the “EXAM LIST” tab.

17) Next, find your patient and highlight the name – if you have
multiple exams then use the CTRL key to highlight all of your patients.
***Notice only ultrasound exams have the pt’s name in all CAPS and
have a study ID number. ***
18)Then hit “DICOM SEND” (found at the top of the screen)

9. Another box will appear:
19) Click on “ROPIMAGE” to turn it dark blue then hit “SEND”.
Your images are now sending to Medimatrix and will be permanently
stored.
20) You will see little sheets of paper flying across the screen from left
to right.
10. When the picture of the two folders and the flying papers disappears
your cases have been successfully sent to Medimatrix. You may now
close out of any remaining screens to exit Omnivue.
***Note: Should you get an error message one or more of your cases
were not transferred correctly. Check Medimatrix and find out which
ones are in and which are not – then check the usual pt name, ID
number, access # etc and retry following the steps above.***
