3. In this Business proposal about the company Tik Tok. You will learn about the Description of the
Business, Industries analysis, What Tik Tok has to offer, Who and where are customers are, our
competitors and what they do, What our selling proposition, and our management. We also
looked at our customers reviews and they feedback they have and how we are going to create a
better business from those feedbacks. By doing this proposal, We hope to improve business
operations.
4. In this first part of the proposal, we are going to talk about the company Tik Tok and discuss the
Business organization, industry analysis, and the products/services that Tik Tok has to offer. Tik Tok is a
platform where individuals can create, share, and find videos. Tik Tok used to be called musical.ly
however in 2018, Musical.ly was bought by a Chinese based company called Byte Dance. Tik Tok
business structure is proprietorship and partnership. We mostly makes our money from advertising
from celebrities shouting them out on twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, paid partnerships from other
companies to help promote them with their services.
The founder of the company Byte dance who owns Tik Tok was Zhang Yiming until November of 2021, it
was taken over by Shou ZI Chew. Tik Tok was founded in September 2016 under a different name called
A.me. It was created in Beijing Chine by Byte Dance. 3 months after the launch of A.me, Byte Dance
decided to change the name to Douyin in December of 2016. In September of 2017, Tik Tok made its
first appearance on the app store but it only in a limited number of markets. It became available
worldwide when Byte Dance decided to merge the company with Musical.ly in August of 2018.
The industry that Tik Tok services is both B2C and B2B. Tik Tok helps other business as it offers the tools
for advertising the products. While Tik Tok is a great place to boast your B2C and your B2B business, it
allows the business itself to get a percentage of the business with Tik Tok getting half from using it to
advertise. Tik Tok also is considered a B2C as they have great marketing tools to help fuel the business
just like how you can with a B2B
Tik Tok is kind of in Social Networking as you can network with businesses and other creators, but they
are really in the entertainment industry. With Tik Tok can shift between the users experience and the
any cultural trends that are happening during the month (Chandlee, 2022). Others would consider Tik
Tok a Broadcast Channel. With Tik Tok, its created to showcase what you like, its very intimate and only
yours. No one for You page will ever be the same as you are just scrolling and scrolling through out it.
5. Tik Tok industry conditions is currently expanding in nationally, regionally, locally. Most creators use tik
Tok for marketing and with 73% of viewers advised that they feel a deeper connection to the business
that appear on their page, also 67% of viewers advised that they felt inclined to shop the brand they
found on Tik Tok. With Tik Tok being a application where anyone can market their business, make
money from their views, and paid partnerships that Tik Tok offers. In 2020 and 2021, Tik Tok was the
most downloaded application with 318 million downloads.
Tik Tok can be substituted by Instagram Reels and Reels on Snapchat. They both do the same of Tik Tok
videos. With Instagram Reels, you can do longer videos as Tik Tok can only go to 3 minutes. Most people
can view old Tik Toks on Instagram Reels. With Snapchat, they have a Spotlight channel, where anyone
anywhere can post videos and Photos. A lot of people use those two apps daily, so they are viewed
more than Tik Tok.
Since the beginning the entertainment industry has been expanding, from just being able to watch
YouTube to now being able to scroll through Tik Toks, Instagram Reels and Snapchat spotlight. The
entertainment is growing to a bigger industry than it was 15 years ago. You can do so much more than
just watching YouTube on your phone, computer, and iPad. I see the industry growing so much bigger in
the future.
The overall threats that the industry will face in the future is the media and entertainment need to learn
that adapting to new realities is a part of the business and that customers are getting tired of getting the
same thing over again, they want new experiences with the entertainment and media industry. Some
observed business opportunities that is noticeable in the industry is that the market is speeding up with
the supply and demand in the entertainment industry. This could mean more opportunities for other
businesses and entrepreneurs.
6. We don’t sell anything on Tik Tok, our service to provide an entertainment experience to all visitors that
download the application or view from a computer. Some benefits/features on Tik Tok, is you can
market your business on Tik Tok. We also have paid partnerships that allows us to also get noticed and
get more users. We don’t have a certain pricing as mostly the application itself is free. We are just an
application where you can post funny videos, short films, and dance videos.
Every day, Tik Tok is used for sharing, a job, and just for casual entertainment. According to
statistic, on average there are 1.2 million users that are on Tik Tok every day, Statistics also
show the value of the company which is $50 Billion. All ages use Tik Tok, but younger
generation use it by 43% and that age group is 18 – 24 years old, with the age groups of 25 to 34,
roughly 32% of that age group uses Tik Tok even the older generation uses Tik Tok by 3.4 %. A
lot of females use Tik Tok over Males, that is 57% to 43%. Tik Tok is available in most
countries by is used most in the US by 138 million users. Tik Tok users want a platform where
they can feel the freest and is able to have a place where they can be themselves. Tik Tok is
available in over 150 counties, but they are also banned in most countries. Tik Tok gives their
customers the ability to be able to have freedom when using their product, they allow you to
have a tailored for You page, No one for You page is the same which makes it enjoyable.
Some of Tik Tok competitors are Likee, Byte, and Triller. Most of these platforms are the same.
They all are a social video platform like Tik Tok. Some of the weakness of the 3 competitors is
that no one has really heard of them except from other customer using them and they are all 50
million users behind Tik Tok so they are competition, but they have awhile before they can take
over the top social video platforms. Some of the strengths is that all 3 of the competitors still are
newer so they have time to learn the roles that need to play in the competition and can grow from
7. that and become better. Tik Tok is a couple years older, they already have numbers charting in
the entertainment industry.
Tik Tok is very different than the other social video platforms, while most platforms focus on
many things, Tik Tok focus is the videos, their mission, the content, and lastly the interface. Tik
Tok allows the complete freedom and control on how the customer on what they want do see or
how their want their videos. A lot of users on Tik Tok has worked with many make up brands,
movies, tv shows. Other companies should want to do business with us as we are a platform that
thrives on creativity, and we want to make sure that our platform gives our customers the
inspiration they need to become something that they wanted to be.
The backgrounds that the management has for Tik Tok is most of them are entrepreneurs, The
CEO of Tik Tok was a Facebook intern and investment firm. The board of directors for Tik Tok
are Bill Ford, Arthur Dantchik, Coatue Management’s Phillippe Laffont, Neil Shen, and Liang
Rubo.
In the past 3 weeks, we have done research on what makes our company, this week we will go
over our mission statement, corporate culture, and customer feedback. Tik Tok has one goal in
mind when it comes to our mission and that’s “To inspire creativity and bring joy” (Nash, 202).
After doing some research, I found that Tik Tok corporate culture is poor. A lot of employees
are not happy with how things are going with lack of understanding how things are supposed to
be. Tik Tok corporate culture could be a little better. Tik Tok does have corporate transparency
by allowing outsiders to look up their reports on how they uphold all their guidelines, and you
can also look at how they take accountability by looking up the reports on the website. New
trends come and go everyday with Tik Tok.
8. Everyday there is a new trend that everyone is trying. A couple trends that are happening
currently in the month of October are as followed, Squirrels in my pants trend, POVs trends,
and the most popular one currently is the “One thing about me trend”. There is only a matter of
time before the next trend hits. Tik Tok does a creator funds for their influencers. They could be
making money off these trends, but no one really knows. The public views Tik Tok as a
distraction and time wasting.
Tik Tok is a good application if you are bored and have time to waste but as it was said “TikTok
is a waste of time, Students make those silly videos during class and it impacts their grades”
(Greene, 2020). People have also said that it’s not safe for younger generations. A few countries
have banned the application due to restrictions and it’s becoming a concerned for risk with the
government with information being leaked. Customers have rated TikTok 1.62 stars out of the
81 reviews that were left. Some are good reviews, but the others are negative reviews. A lot of
the reviews are talking about how they were banned and how the customers lost their drafts
that they had, and the others are just disappointed on how the application is being ran.
While reading the customer feedback, I found an opportunity on how to limit the way that tik
Tok is banning accounts. Some of the reviews, they were banned for unknown reason and
never got the chance to appeal it.
Customers should be able to know the reason they were banned and be able to change it. Like
Facebook, they give you the chance to appeal it and they will look again before they remove
anything. From the reviews. Once you lose your account, you must create another one. Tik
9. Tokers work hard to create videos and should get given the chance to gain access to their
accounts once they are banned/suspended
. We researched and read all the customer’s feedback. About 50% of our customers are having
problems with their accounts being banned and not having the choice to appeal their ban to
regain access to their accounts. Our customers are not happy as how we are banning and
monetizing their accounts. Follow the rest of the proposal, we will discuss a plan, how we going
to achieve the plan and how much money it will take to create.
To turn this into a plan, we need to complete more research on why this is happening and how
we can change the way accounts are being banned and create a new way for them to appeal to
have their accounts back. Since TIK TOK is a free application for everyone, there wouldn’t be a
cost as we would just be updating the security settings for our customers to make sure they can
enjoy the application the way it intended to be.

10. For this plan, we intend to save most of our money as stated that we will just be updating our
security setting for our customers so their accounts won’t be ban as much and if they are, a way
to make sure they can gain access back to their account.
To introduce this strategy to the management, the team and I will create a proposal with all the
research we have done and how it can be fixed. To get this plan for our improved process, we
need the team responsible for updating all security settings to help get this completed. There is
a lot of decision making it comes to improving a business process and it does take time, we will
try to make sure it doesn’t take up a lot of time for each of the process to be improved so the
plan can move quickly. With improving the new process, our customer will be able to be more
satisfied with our business.
To take risks, we need to know why we are taking this risk. In this case, our customers. After we
have figured out why we are doing this then we know it’s enough time to take this risk and
present our findings to the management. We gain the knowledge that we learned while
creating this new plan and how to improve the business. What we will lose is the plan itself, but
we will move forward and try again. If an idea is not taking off, recreate it better but if after 6
months, it’s still failing then it would be a good idea to give it up if its not working.
I would find Dustin Goot as he is the head of creator monetization. He can assist me as to why
this may be happening and help create a solution that I may be missing. I will keep Justin
updated by meetings and emails every couple of weeks to tell him about the plan. It would be

would make the plan better, I will explain why this is a good idea and show all the research that
has been done to complete this.
12. In conclusion, we have completed all research on how to create a new improving business plan
for our customers. We hope to take this opportunity and use it to improve our customers
satisfaction with our company and make the company an improved brand.
