1. Little Sisters of the Poor and the Vow of Hospitality
Presented by Sicomac Pharmacy
Serving in more than 30 countries around the world as well as over 30 US states, Little Sisters of the
Poor is dedicated to helping the elderly poor regardless of race, nationality, or religion. Founded in
France in 1839, the organization is run by a staff of Roman Catholic women better known as Little
Sisters, and these women live by the organization’s Vow of Hospitality.
By taking the Vow of Hospitality, Little Sisters wholly commit themselves to serving the elderly poor.
Little Sisters vow to welcome the elderly poor into their homes like family and to care for them with
respect and love. Through the Vow of Hospitality, Little Sisters accept the Church’s mandate to extend
Christ’s mission of charity. They perform numerous humble tasks with the goal of meeting the physical
needs of the elderly and making them happy.
