A female Drosophila with kidney-shaped brown eyes was crossed with a male having normal eye shape and color. Half of the resulting F1 generation had brown eyes. One quarter of the F1 would be females with normal eye shape and color. Bar eyed females could be expected in the F2 generation since the bar eyed mutation is recessive and females need to be homozygous to exhibit the trait.
