What are we doing today? We will learn what the  International Baccalaureate  ( IB ) is. We will learn what the  IB   Learner Profile  is We will learn how  IB  and  Learner Profile  ties in to IDEA students (that means you!)
What is IB? “ It is a programme of international education designed to help students develop the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and skills necessary to participate actively and responsibly in a changing world. There are more than  651,000 IB students at 2,390 schools in 129 countries.” Ages of students in the IB programme range from 3 to 19 years old.

IB Learner Profile Sounds cool, what do I have to do? You need to be a learner (student) who is willing to become:  an inquirer, knowledgeable,  a thinker, a communicator, principled, open-minded, caring, a risk-taker, balanced and reflective. Easy, right?  (IB LEARNER PROFILE VIDEO)
IB Learner Profile (Cont’d) Again, what do all of these things mean? Let’s start from the beginning. What is a profile? (HINT: Think facebook or myspace) A profile is the description of a person’s qualities, values and characteristics.

IB Learner Profile (Cont’d) IB Learners are KNOWLEDGEABLE: Explore concepts, ideas and issues Acquire in-depth knowledge of subjects Develop understanding of different disciplines

IB Learner Profile Activity Let’s review the 10 descriptors of the IB Learner Profile Teams of 2 or 3 (whichever evens out the group) Each team receives a piece of paper with one of the descriptors on it The team has to create a skit where they act out the descriptor they received in a way the other teams can guess it without using the word. Everyone in the team has to participate
