but gives much.
It enriches those who
receive, without making
poorer those who give.

begged, borrowed or
stolen, For it is
something that is of no
value to anyone until it
given away.
5. What a smile means..??
Regardless of culture, the smile
usually means:
ο§ Happiness.
ο§ Pleasure.
ο§ Amusement.
ο§ Sometimes it is an involuntary
expression of anxiety (known as a
grimace).
6. Why smile?
A smile:
creates happiness in the home, fosters good
will in business, and is the counter sign of
friendship.
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the
discouraged, sunshine to the sad and it is
natureβs best antidote for trouble.
7. Did you know how you smile?
A smile is a facial expression formed by those
muscles most notably near both ends of
mouth.
The smile can also be found around the
eyes(called Duchenne smile).
8. Duchenne smile
A laughing smile with teeth showing and
mouth open.
A Duchenne smile contracts the zygomatic
muscles of the cheek and eye, forming
crow's feet. The crow's feet indicate that the
smile is genuine and that the smiler is truly
happy. It was discovered by and is named
after Guillaume Duchenne.
9. Duchenne smile
Eye muscle
In a genuine smile, the eyes' muscles are contracted in a
way which produces crowβs feet and pulls the cheeks
higher. In a fake one, the eyes' muscles are either relaxed
or simply squeezed.
Symmetry
In a genuine smile the face is generally symmetrical.
Smoothness
The onset of a fake smile is often abrupt, the moment of
maximum contraction is held too long, and the
disappearance is either abrupt or irregular.
Length
Research shows that genuine smiles generally last
between 0,5 and 4 seconds.

1. The Commissural Smile:
ο§ 67% of the population exhibit the
commissural smile, making it the most
common smile pattern.
ο§ In this smile, the corners of the mouth are
first pulled up and outward, followed by the
contraction of the levators (muscles that
raise the upper lip) to show the upper
teeth.

2.The Cuspid Smile :
ο§ 31% of the population exhibit the
cuspid smile.
ο§ The shape of the lips visualized as
a diamond exposing the cuspid
teeth, then the corners of the
mouth contract to pull the lips
upward and outward.

3. The Complex Smile :
ο§ 2% of the population have a complex smile.
ο§ The shape of the lips are often illustrated as
two parallel chevrons. The levators of the
upper lip, the levators of the corners of the
mouth, and the depressors of the lower lip
contract at the same time, displaying all the
upper and lower teeth simultaneously.
