Never Quit Challenge Theme Song (music project) to benefit the Phoenix Patriot Foundation
1. NEVER QUIT CHALLENGE THEME SONG (MUSIC PROJECT)
The Never Quit Challenge (NQC) will have its own theme song available for digital download to help raise funds for the
benefiting charities, and market additional layers of awareness for the NQC. A special group of musicians have come
together to co-write, record, and produce the single track theme song. Darrin Isham, the producer for the NQC, is the
project manager and originator of the initiative. The collaboration has a unique story surrounding the musicians and their
friendships. The track titled “Never Quit (Clear The Way)” will be available on most online stores September 1, 2013.
Additionally, the group will be playing the song live at the New York City venue evening fundraiser on September 11! The
NQC is in the process of pitching a time slot for the Today Show as well, with intent to play the song live again on
September 12.
Meet the group of musicians involved with this collaboration:
Darrin Isham is a native of California, born and raised in San Diego. He currently
resides in Temecula, CA. He was raised in a family environment surrounded by
music, with both parents as accomplished musicians. Darrin has been part of several
bands in the Temecula Valley area, including being the band leader for Mistress of
Midlife Crisis and currently band leader for Rustic Banter. Darrin plays bass,
keyboards, and backup vocals. He is also a 24 year veteran in the Special
Operations Community serving with Naval Special Warfare. He has completed five
combat tours, with deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. Darrin is an ambassador for
the Phoenix Patriot Foundation (PPF) as well. He met CPL Juan Dominguez, a triple-
amputee Marine, in 2011 through his friendship with Gary Sinise. Darrin will be
launching an extensive music project as an additional line of operation for the PPF in
January 2014. He will be establishing the Phoenix Patriot Band as a signature band
for the foundation to support its mission, and raise funds and awareness for our
wounded veterans and their families. The band will travel nationwide to support PPF
events, and collaborate with a variety of musicians to record and produce songs to
raise funds for the foundation incorporating wounded veterans with musical
backgrounds. Darrin co-wrote the lyrics for the track, and will be featured playing bass and backup vocals.
Ashley Krouse is a singer/songwriter, living and working in Los Angeles, CA. She
was born and raised in Phoenix Arizona, brought up singing and dancing from an
early age. She had musical guidance from both her father and stepfather as a child, in
addition to choral directors and vocal coaches throughout her school years in Arizona.
After her move to Los Angeles as a late teen, she continued her path in the
performing arts world. In addition to her singing, Ashley also works with two non-profit
youth organizations teaching music and dance technique to young performers. She
just released her first EP “UnCOVERED” which she is debuting in Nashville August,
2013. The EP features cover songs popularly played at her live acoustic shows, in
addition to her first original single “Sweet Romance.” In May of 2011, Ashley and her
band were asked to perform at a benefit concert to help raise money for CPL Juan
Dominguez, a triple-amputee wounded Marine. From that point on, she has built a
relationship with Juan, also a musician, and performed together at a benefit concert
for the Phoenix Patriot Foundation earlier this year. Ashley enjoys and continues to be a part of as many charity and
fundraising organizations for our wounded warriors as she can, and is honored to be a part of the Never Quit Challenge.
Ashley developed the melody line, and will be featured on lead vocals for the track.
2. Juan Dominguez was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico and raised in Deming, New
Mexico. He currently resides in Temecula, CA. He has been involved with music for
many years. Juan started out on trumpet in grade school and played it through high
school in a symphonic band, marching band, and pep band. During these years, he
also picked up the guitar and bass, and played the guitar in a Jazz band his senior
year. He has also been a songwriter for numerous years. He has played in
numerous bands, including 1 Bullet 2 Wishes, We Were Rogues, and Armsbound
(where he met and played with Ryan and Will in 2005). They played in the band
Armsbound, all up and down the Silver City, Deming, and Las Cruces areas of New
Mexico. Juan asked Ryan to join the project due to his familiarity with Juan’s style of
playing, and could turn Juan’s ideas into reality. He joined the United States Marine
Corps in 2007, where he served in the infantry for four years. On October 23, 2010
while serving in Afghanistan, his life changed forever when he stepped on an IED that
ended up taking his arm at the elbow, and both of his legs at the knees. After his
injury and initial recovery, he quickly started playing music again. Realizing that the
guitar was more difficult to play without an elbow, he focused on learning to play the
drums, where a new love and passion was formed. Juan has been featured with Gary Sinise on 60 minutes with CBS,
and performed live with Gary and the LT Dan Band during a benefit concert in his honor in Temecula, CA. Juan co-wrote
the lyrics and helped develop the song structure, as well as, the drum track for the theme song. He will be featured on
drums and vocals.
Ryan Gonzales is a native of New Mexico, born and raised in Deming, New Mexico,
where he currently resides. Ryan has played music for many years, playing guitar
and bass. Ryan was a member of the band Armsbound, where he played with Juan
and Will. Recently, he has started to learn drums, playing in church, giving back to
God for the talents that he has been blessed with. Ryan developed the song structure
for the theme song, especially the guitar tracks. He will be featured on lead guitar.
Will Legatzke was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico and currently resides in Silver
City, New Mexico. He started playing music during his freshman year of high school,
teaching himself to play the guitar. He has played in several bands to include Loss of
Sight, Torn from Sorrow, Thought of Tomorrow, Scarless, We Were Rouges, and
Armsbound, where he played with Juan and Ryan. His drive and passion for music
stem from the enjoyment people receive through his creation. Will is featured on
vocals for screams on the track. He will also be playing rhythm guitar during the live
performance in New York City, NY on September 11, 2013.
