Diplacusis Research Paper
What is Diplacusis?
Typically our brain will distinguish a note as one sound, but there is a form of hearing loss that can cause some people to hear sounds differently, at
two different pitches. This troubling condition is known as diplacusis, and it's when a person perceives a single auditory stimulus as two separate
sounds. So instead of hearing just one sound, there is a dissonance in the timing or pitch of a sound and a person often hears the correct pitch in one ear,
while the other ear detects the pitch as being either higher (sharp) or lower (flat). This abnormal perception is also known as "double–hearing", so it
should come to no surprise that many people find this condition to be disconcerting.
Diplacusis can occur suddenly or it can gradually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, one ear hears sounds at a different timing or pitch than the other ear.
Diplacusis monauralis – In this form, one ear hears the same tone as two different sounds. There is no echo, instead sounds are perceived as different
pitches or as a distortion.
Diplacusis echoica – With this form, the patient hears repeating sound in the same ear, with the first sound followed by the echo of the original sound.
This occurs because the timing of the tones is perceived slightly different in each ear.
Diplacusis dysharmonica – This type is characterized by the differences in pitch heard in each ear. One ear hears the correct pitch, while the other ear
hears the sound either lower or higher than the true pitch.
Treatment for diplacusis varies depending on the underlying cause. When diplacusis is from an obstruction or ear infection, your hearing may return to
normal once the condition is treated. However, if your diplacusis is not caused by conductive hearing loss the condition is likely to be permanent.
Luckily, for some of these patients listening devices such as hearing aids and cochlear implants may be the

Speech On Dog Grooming
Wouldn't it be great if you didn't have to pay to get your dog groomed? Whether you have a short–haired dog or a long–haired dog, there are some
basics you need to follow when doing at–home dog grooming. I'll give you basic all breed dog grooming tips so you can save money and time by
learning how to groom your dog at home. Then I'll teach you specifics for short coat and long coat dogs.
So, here we go.
All Breed Dog Grooming Tip #1 – Handling and Preparation
No doubt, it's cheaper to do at home dog grooming than it is to go to a groomer. Here are the fundamentals. First, in order for your dog not to bolt out
of the tub, he needs to understand and obey the stand, sit and stay commands.
And hopefully you've been handling your dog since he's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Flimsy clippers break too easily. As for the muzzle, your dog may mouth you the first few times before he gets used to the process.
It's best to have started clipping your dog's nails when he was a pup. But if it's too late, start playing with your dog's feet gently so that he's not
terrified when you try to use the clippers.
For the first few times you clip his nails, only trim a tiny bit of nail off so he gets used to the process.
Try to trim his nails every six to ten weeks. If your dog goes outside a lot, the pavement actually keeps the nails at a decent length. But if your dog
stays indoors, you'll have to clip them every 4 to six weeks.
DO NOT cut into the live part of the nail. Your dog will be in agony! The live part is wear you see the nail starting to turn pink. Also you can tell the
live part by the differing texture and color of his nails.
Don't forget to trim the pointed end of the declaw (that's the dog's thumb).
When in doubt, you can always ask your vet or groomer to show you how to trim your dog's nails.

Analgesima Essay
Analgesics
Pain control is essential to quality patient care. Otitis externa can be quite painful, and patients frequently request analgesics. These agents ensure
patient comfort and may have sedating properties. Inexpensive, simple non steroidal anti–inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) reduce inflammation and
irritation and can be paired with opiates to improve pain symptoms. In some cases, systemic analgesics are helpful before ear cleaning or wick
placement (27,20).
Oral and intravenous antibiotics
Most persons with OE do not require oral medications. Oral antibiotics are generally reserved for patients with fever, immunosuppression, diabetes,
adenopathy, or an infection extending outside the ear canal. They should be given to individuals with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Occasionally an abscess forms in the ear canal; this usually occurs in cases of OE caused by S. aureus (6). Treatment of the abscess is often
accomplished by means of a simple incision and drainage procedure using a needle or a small blade.
Long term monitoring
For a patient of OE with debris, a suctioning of the EAC on a weekly basis is required until debris has been removed. Patients must be monitored to
ensure complete resolution of OE. Even in mild cases, follow–up is important for evaluating the response to treatment. A follow–up visit 1 week after
starting treatment is usually adequate (3).
(d) Prognosis
Most incidents of OE resolve without difficulty. The majority of patients improve within 48–72 hours of antibiotic administration. Failure to improve
within 2–3 days should call the diagnosis into question and prompt the physician to reevaluate the patient. Otitis externa usually resolves fully in 7–10
days (3). Resolution of eczematoid OE occurs with control of the primary skin condition. In some patients, OE can cause severe otalgia necessitating
administration of narcotic pain relievers. Pain usually improves 2–5 days after initiating therapy (27). Temporary hearing loss is common secondary to
canal occlusion. Severe infections may cause cellulitis or lymphadenitis of the face or neck. If left untreated, the infection may invade the deeper
adjacent structures and progress to necrotizing (malignant)

Explain The Key Features Of Hearing Testing
Key Features of Hearing Testing Are you looking for an auditory center? Such centers provide various services but one of the most critical ones is
hearing testing. When weighing different centers here are some of the most important factors to take up: 1. Questionnaire Hearing centers often have
some sort of questionnaire that patients must complete. This requires you to share information about environments you might have been in that could
have caused hearing loss. This will allow the center to more quickly determine the possible cause of hearing issues. This part of your visit is critical
as it will provide some critical details for the center's staff to diagnose what could have caused hearing problems. There are other parts of the testing

Ear Pain Research Paper
Ear pain can be in or near the inner ear or distant such as referred pain from a distant site. Ear pain is referred to as Otalgia. Inner ear pain known as
otitis media occurs when infected fluid is present in the middle ear of the affected ear. This is frequently related to symptoms form a virus or by a
bacterial infection. In contrast, the outer ear pain is outside or externa to the tympanic membrane. This is otitis externa. It may be caused by a foreign
object, earwax, and even mastoiditis. Acute otitis media however is the most common cause of adult and pediatric ear pain (Sullivan, 2016).
The first assessment is thorough history and physical exam. A thorough history should include the symptoms or events leading to the pain. A complete

Physics of the Ear Essay examples
Physics of the Ear
The ear is an extraordinary human organ that many people take for granted until it doesn't function. It is the only device that allows the human to hear
sounds in their environment. The ear is made up of many parts that distinguish various sounds through different means. The ear anatomy and
physiology along with how sound waves are transmitted into meaningful sounds will help one understand how hearing loss occurs.
The ear is made up of three areas: the outer, middle, and inner ear. The outer ear is very important for collecting sound waves. It is made up of the
pinna and the ear canal. The pinna, the actual physical outward appearance of the ear, receives sound waves and begins to funnel them into the ear canal.

Basically how sound travels through the ear is a process of many steps. The sound waves are gathered by the pinna and then funneled into the meatus.
Those waves then begin to vibrate the tympanic membrane which in turn hits against the malleus. The ossicle bones then vibrate like a chain
reaction. The footplate will hit the oval window which triggers the fluid in the cochlea to move. The movement sways across the different hair
cells creating impulses that are sent to the brain through the eighth cranial nerve. The interesting question is how waves can become meaningful
sounds. First off we must know that sound is a wave. It is impossible for sound to be a particle or atom because if it was a particle the two different
sounds would eventually collide and if sound was an atom one sound would deflect another and neither one of these situations ever happens. A
characteristic of sound is that different sounds pass through one another, for example, a sound and its echo. Therefore, it is safe to conclude that
sound is a form of wave. Sound is molecules vibrating back and forth creating what we call a longitudinal wave. However, very few times do we
consider sound as flow of power yet that is exactly what it is. It is a power that flows through the air steadily. The speed at which it travels depends on
the temperature and the

Personal Hygiene Essay
Personal hygiene is a major part of your everyday life. It includes brushing your teeth, taking a shower, applying deodorant, wearing clean clothes,
cooking your food properly, and washing your hands when necessary. There are many different types of hygiene and different ways of doing them. The
types of hygiene are food and cooking hygiene, medical hygiene, and personal hygiene, there is even such a thing as excessive hygiene. Excessive
hygiene may cause allergic diseases. Some parts of the body like the ear canal, or inside of the vagina are mostly better left alone for the body's own
cleaning systems. Also, excessive application of soaps, creams, and ointments can adversely affect certain of the body's natural processes. For example,

The history of personal hygiene goes back centuries even millenniums. Some cultures performed personal hygiene for religious purposes such as the
Hindu's. They believed that if you did not bath that it was a sin. They were based on ritual purity and were not informed by an understanding of the
causes of diseases and their means of transmission. Regular bathing was a trademark of Roman civilization. They constructed elaborate baths in urban
areas to serve the public. They baths were like very large swimming pools. Their entire bathing building consisted of a variety of bathing choices. First
the large swimming pool like baths. Then smaller cold and hot pools, and saunas, and spa–like facilities where people could be oiled and massaged.
The water was constantly changed by and aqueduct system. The Romans also had an elaborate sewage system called Cloaca Maxima. The Romans
didn't have a flushing toilet either, but most of them had running water right under them. Until the late 19th Century, only the best in Western cities
typically had indoor facilities for relieving waste. The poorer majority used community facilities built above cesspools in backyards and courtyards.
This changed after Dr. John Snow discovered that cholera was transmitted by the fecal contamination of water. Though it took decades for his discovery
to gain acceptance, governments and sanitary reformers were eventually convinced of the health benefits of

Auditory System Essay
The world contains all kinds of energy that translates into information about what we see, hear, smell, touch and taste. A sensory system is a part of the
nervous system responsible for processing specific sensory information. The components of a sensory system include sensory receptors, neural
pathways, and parts of the brain involved in sensory perception. To begin, energy from the environment stimulates the receptor cells in whichever sense
organ is being used. If this information were auditory, the ear would convert sound waves in the air into electrical impulses that would further be
interpreted by the brain as sound. A sound wave first enters the pinna, the fleshy part of the ear on the outside of the body. It then travels through...

The movements of the membranes then send the vibrations down the scala tympani. A structure called the Organ of Corti, which is situated on
the basilar membrane, becomes stimulated as the membrane vibrates and sends nerve impulses to the brain. Within the Organ of Corti are a
group of specialized cells called hair cells, which are covered by the tectorial membrane. As the basilar membrane vibrates, the hair cells are bents
and push up against the tectorial membrane. This causes the hair cells to fire and send nerve impulses to the auditory cortex on each of the brains
hemispheres through the cochlear nerve. How we determine pitch can be explained with two different theories. The Place Theory states that the
entire basilar membrane does not vibrate at once so different parts of the basilar membrane respond to different frequencies of sound. Lower
frequency sounds vibrate the basilar membrane near the apex of the cochlea while higher frequency sounds produce vibrations closer to the base.
The Frequency Theory states that the frequency of firing matches the frequency of the sound wave. Hearing loss can occur for a number of reasons.
Damage to the eardrum due to age and prolonged exposure to loud noise may cause the hairs or nerve cells in the cochlea to wear out and become
less effective. A buildup of earwax can block the ear canal and prevent of sound waves from entering the eardrum. Otosclerosis, a genetic form of
hearing loss in which the stapes is fixed

Individuals With Down Syndrome
Due to the nature of the condition, individuals with Down syndrome face a bountiful array of difficulties with language and communication. Down
syndrome occurs due to an extra copy of the twenty–first chromosome causing intellectual and developmental delays as well as abnormal physical
characteristics. With the highly complex nature of human speech, these physical characteristics of individuals with Down syndrome cause many
challenges in accomplishing clear and audible communication. The following paper will discuss specifically the articulation and auditory challenges
that individuals with Down syndrome face during speech. Articulation is an integral part of the speech system. It is the process by which words and
sounds are formed when the lips, tongue, jaw, teeth, and palate adjust the air coming from the vocal folds (OSLA 2010). This process is hindered in
Down syndrome individuals because of a number of different facial problems. Some of these differences include a smaller oral cavity with a relatively
large tongue, a narrow, high arching palate and abnormal bone growth in the oral structures (Martin, Klusek, Estigarribia, Roberts 2009). Frequently,
missing or additional facial muscles contribute to these speech and articulations difficulties, limiting the movement of the lips. Several... Show more

Down syndrome have some sort of auditory difficulty. In the findings of hearing loss in children with Down syndrome Shoot, Joseph and Heithaus

Tinnitus Treatment
Tinnitus treatment varies depending of the type and severity of your tinnitus. If you have too much wax in your ears, for example, then simply
removing the earwax should stop the sounds. Thus, the secret to choose an effective treatment lies in establishing the correct diagnosis for your
condition. Available Tinnitus treatments: 1.Conventional treatments Medications Prescription medications are being used as possible relief agents for
tinnitus. They include antidepressants, anti–convulsants, anti–histamines even anesthetics such as Lidocaine and more. Some of these drugs can help
patients to ease the symptoms of their tinnitus. Unfortunately, in most of the cases, the benefits are temporary. Surgery One of the treatments for

Tinnitus maskers and sound generators come in multiple forms. For example, they can look like small hearing aids you can wear right at your ear.
There are also table top models like a CD player. In any case, the aim is to produce some background sound, be a white–noise sound or any other soft
sound, to mask tinnitus. The attention of the brain is drawn towards this background sound in such a way that the ear ringing is still there but can
barely be heard because of the background noise. Neuromonic treatment This is a new sophisticated system. This treatment makes use of a small device
with headphones. The device creates a sound which is unique to each patient. The sound contains pleasant music. According to this method, your brain
learns a new way of interpreting sound. Some patients experience some relief almost immediately, but the whole program takes at least a 6–month
period to complete. 3.Other stimulation therapies: Electrical nerve stimulation This treatment involves transmitting a very small charge of electricity to

2 tbsp hydrogen peroxide
1 tbsp baking soda
Tools:

Instructions:
1.Add the hydrogen peroxide and baking soda into a small bowl. Stir to combine into a paste.
2.Dip your toothbrush in the mixture and start brushing.
3.Allow the paste to stay on your teeth for about a minute, and then rinse thoroughly.
I personally use this homemade whitening paste, but only once or twice a month. If you have very bad stains on your teeth, you could use it initially,
once a week until you notice an improvement. More often, however, and the baking soda could break down the enamel over time, causing sensitivity.
And of course, make sure to maintain your regular oral care regimen.
Remove earwax
All humans and other mammals have earwax. It consists of shed skin cells, hair, and the secretions from glands of the outside ear canal. Although
gross, it serves its purpose. Namely, protecting the ear canal against bacteria, fungi and water. But, too much earwax and your ears may feel full,
affecting your hearing. Although, most experts agree that removing earwax is not entirely necessary, you may still want to clean your ears time and
again. The problem is, rooting around your ear canal with a Q–tip can actually push wax further inside. So, instead of cleaning your ear out, the wax
gets stuck. As a result, wax builds up on top of it, creating a dangerous blockage or "impaction," according to NYU

substantial amounts of saliva with each syllable. Then his thin, olive colored lips, that are as dry as the Sahara desert, don't quite fit over his two
incisors. Next you notice his minuscule eyes, they flicker in the faded earwax candle light. Forward, his monstrous nose can't be missed. Each nostril is
the size of a quarter, and contains massive amounts of mucus, swirling around with each twitch of his nose. After that, you can't help but gaze up at
his bristly eyebrows that wriggle like worms every time he opens his eyes. Next, the things on the top of his head, which are supposed to be ears,
look a little like the doorstops you sit on the floor and play with when your parents send you to room. Except, they are a repugnant green color and
gorged with earwax. His skin is the color of puke, and is flaky like the dandruff on an elderly man's head. His tunic is a cream color with multiple

Personal Health : 9 Hygiene Practices
Personal Health: 9 Hygiene Practices to Remember
We go about our daily lives adhering to standard practices of hygiene: brushing our teeth, washing our faces, shampooing our hair, you get the drill. But
we've forgotten about the not–so–habitual "other" practices that doctors continuously recommend us to do each day.
Although these nine hygienic procedures take additional time, it is important to incorporate them into your weekly and monthly routines so that they
do eventually become habitual. After all, it's important to be proactive rather than reactive when it comes to sustaining a healthy lifestyle.
Nine: Cleaning your ears. (stuffwetalkabout.com)
Have you ever looked at your headphones to find the speakers covered in earwax? As a result, you reach for a cotton swab to rid your ears of that waxy
yellow gunk. However, cotton swabs actually push earwax deeper into your ear canal leading to a buildup. Instead, opt for an over–the–counter
earwax removal solution, like Murine or Debrox, to loosen the wax and ultimately break down the buildup. You'll be hearing better in no time.
Eight: Sleep without underwear. (i.ytimg.com)
Sleeping without underwear allows men and women's crotch area to breathe after many hours of wearing underwear and boxers and locking in
moisture. Allowing this area to dry out is a great health measure recommended by gynecologists.

Tinnitus: Ear and Identified Underlying Cause Essay
Introduction to Tinnitus
Tinnitus (TIN–i–tus) is noise or ringing in the ears. A common problem, tinnitus affects about 1 in 5 people. Tinnitus isn't a condition itself– it's a
symptom of an underlying condition, such as age–related hearing loss, ear injury or a circulatory system disorder.
Although bothersome, tinnitus usually isn't a sign of something serious. Although it can worsen with age, for many people, tinnitus can improve with
treatment. Treating an identified underlying cause sometimes helps. Other treatments reduce or mask the noise, making tinnitus less noticeable.
Symptoms
Tinnitus involves the annoying sensation of hearing sound when no external sound is present. Tinnitus symptoms include these types of phantom noises

В·Blood vessel disorders linked to tinnitus
In rare cases, tinnitus is caused by a blood vessel disorder. This type of tinnitus is called pulsatile tinnitus. Causes include:
В·Head and neck tumors. A tumor that presses on blood vessels in your head or neck (vascular neoplasm) can cause tinnitus and other symptoms.
В·Atherosclerosis. With age and buildup of cholesterol and other deposits, major blood vessels close to your middle and inner ear lose some of their
elasticity – the ability to flex or expand slightly with each heartbeat. That causes blood flow to become more forceful and sometimes more turbulent,
making it easier for your ear to detect the beats. You can generally hear this type of tinnitus in both ears.
В·High blood pressure. Hypertension and factors that increase blood pressure, such as stress, alcohol and caffeine, can make tinnitus more noticeable.
В·Turbulent blood flow. Narrowing or kinking in a neck artery (carotid artery) or vein in your neck (jugular vein) can cause turbulent blood flow,
leading to tinnitus.
В·Malformation of capillaries. A condition called arteriovenous malformation (AVM), which occurs in the connections between arteries and veins, can
result in tinnitus.

What is it?
Tinnitus means 'tinkling or ringing like a bell'. Tinnitus is a physical condition, experienced as ringing, buzzing, whistling, hissing or clicking in the
ears or head. This occurs when there is no external noise present. Tinnitus is not a serious disease but can sometimes be a symptom to an underlying
problem. There are two types of tinnitus: subjective tinnitus and objective tinnitus. Subjective tinnitus is when only you can hear the noises. This is the
most common type of tinnitus. Objective tinnitus is when your doctor can hear the noises when he/she does an examination. The most common form
of tinnitus is a constant, high–pitched ringing. The sensory loss of certain sound frequencies can cause the brain to change how it processes sound. As
the brain receives less external noise of a certain frequency, it begins to adapt and change. Tinnitus can be the brain's way of filling in the lost
frequencies it doesn't receive from its auditory system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Effects Of Otitis Media On Children
Numerous therapeutic conditions, for example, those recorded beneath, can influence your listening to wellbeing. Treatment of these and other
listening to misfortunes can frequently prompt enhanced or reestablished hearing. In the event that left undiscovered and untreated, a few conditions
can prompt irreversible listening to disability or deafness. On the off chance that you think that you or your adored one has an issue with their listening
ability, guarantee ideal listening to medicinal services by looking for a restorative finding from a doctor.
OTITIS MEDIA
The most widely recognized reason for listening to misfortune in kids is otitis media, the restorative term for a center ear disease or aggravation of the
center ear. This condition can happen in one or both ears and basically influences kids because of the state of the youthful Eustachian tube (and is the
most incessant finding for kids going to a doctor). At the point when left undiscovered and untreated, otitis media can prompt contamination of the
mastoid bone behind the ear, a burst ear drum, and listening to misfortune. In the event that treated suitably, listening to misfortune identified with otitis
media can be reduced.
TINNITUS
Tinnitus is the restorative name showing В“ringing in the ears,В” which incorporates commotions going from noisy thundering to clicking,
murmuring, or humming. Most tinnitus originates from harm to the infinitesimal endings of the listening to nerve in the internal ear. The

A Procedure For Ear Exception
Ear Irrigation WHAT IS EAR IRRIGATION? Ear irrigation is a procedure to wash dirt and wax out of your ear canal. It is also called lavage. You may
need ear irrigation if you are having trouble hearing because of a buildup of earwax. You may also have ear irrigation as part of treatment for an ear
infection. Getting wax and dirt out of your ear canal can help some medicines given as ear drops work better. HOW IS EAR IRRIGATION
PERFORMED? The procedure may vary among health care providers and hospitals. You may be given ear drops to put in your ear 15–20 minutes
before irrigation. This helps loosen the wax. Then, a syringe containing water and a sterile salt solution (saline) can be gently inserted into the ear
canal. The saline is used to

Genetic Testing Pros And Cons
Recreational genetics: Some genetic testing carries no risk of impact on health or wellbeing. For example, "recreational" genetics may involve testing
the type of earwax one has, while "genealogy" or "ancestry" genetics may involve determining which country a person's original ancestors came from.
DTC can be very convenient for this type of genetic testing. Paternity testing and forensic genetics: Genetic testing can be used to establish the identity
of people, and to test if two people are related to each other. This type of testing is highly regulated by the courts and involves testing in accredited
pathology laboratories. Community genetics: Community genetics offers testing directly to the consumer, but only as part of a full healthcare program
involving accredited pathology laboratories and registered health practitioners. Community genetics is often relevant to consumers from particular
geographic origins and community groups, and can be used to screen for risk of particular inherited disorders such as "Tay–Sachs disease" which is a
serious disorder affecting young children. Medical genetics: Genetic testing is increasingly used to diagnose a range of diseases including inherited
disorders and some cancers. This type of testing is only carried out as part of a medical consultation, and the treating practitioner will use an accredited
laboratory to test the sample and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ear–pick
Have you ever heard of ear–pick? It is also called ear–scoop or ear–spoon. Most families in South Korea have at least one ear–pick in their house. I
have heard that there is a job picking earwax with an ear–pick in China. It looks like a spoon or a shovel and it is much smaller than tea spoon because
it should fit into ears. It is made of many materials such as bamboo, stainless steel, gold plated, and plastic. Some of the plastic ones have LED inside
at the tip of ear–pick, so we can see inside of our ear well. If you are picking earwax by yourself, you do not need the LED one because it is for the
person who picks your earwax instead of you. In South Korea, mostly mothers pick their children's earwax, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Swabs have some advantages. For example, when I am feeling lazy, I can simply clean up my earholes. While using swabs is easy, using ear–pick
requires a little bit of delicacy unless you want to get hurt. However ear–picks have much more advantages than swabs. First, using an ear–pick is
eco–friendly. Some people might say making ear–picks also can cause destruction of ecosystem. That might be true, but I think making swabs destroys
much more trees and making ear–picks is needed just a few trees compared to making swabs. In order to make swabs, a lot of trees have to be cut down
and a lot of cotton is used carelessly. However, if we have ear–picks, we might be able to save a lot of trees and cotton might be used for better
purposes. As long as you do not lose your ear–pick, it will stay with you forever. Additionally, after using it, you can easily wash it. Second, it is
cheaper than one pack of swabs. For example, if you bought one pack that has 100 swabs, you could use 200 times because cotton is on both sides.
However if you had an ear–pick, you could use it more than 200 times. Fresh air is free offer due to saving trees. Third, you feel cleaner by using an
ear–pick. Swabs cannot clean your earhole perfectly, and using swabs is like wiping and using an ear–pick is like scraping. If you have not cleaned
your earhole for a long time, you might discover a small piece of paper with ear–pick and you might feel you can hear something from 10 miles

Conductive Hearing Loss Research Paper
Conductive hearing loss is when there is a problem with the ear canal, ear drum, or middle ear. When there are problems in the middle ear it's from
an issue with the ossicles (malleus, incus, and stapes). There are several types of causes that can produce conductive hearing loss; deformation of outer
ear, ear canal, or middle ear, fluid in the middle ear, ear infection, allergies, bad Eustachian tube function, perforated eardrum, benign tumors, impacted
earwax, and Otosclerosis (Hearing Loss Association of America). In any of these cases, conductive hearing loss affects thebrain by not allowing the
inner ear transduce the sound waves into neural signals. The brain cannot receive the signals because the stimulation of sound is being blocked or
severely reduced by any of the reasons given above. The brain is either receiving little to no neurological signals and the brain does not like to be bored
(Wolfe, Kluender, & Levi, 2015).
The most common reason conductive hearing loss occurs is otitis media. Otitis media is a buildup of fluid in the middle ear, depending on the situation

Infections are treated with antibiotics or other antifungal medication. Chronic ear infections, fluid in the middle ear, and the benign tumors are
corrected with surgery. When conductive hearing loss is caused by head trauma surgery is also used to correct the damage in the middle ear
structures (Hearing Loss Association of America). The most common reason older people have conductive hearing loss is from impacted earwax.
As we age, ear wax becomes drier and sticker. This makes it more likely for the ear wax to build up and become impacted. When this occurs, your
hearing will become muffled because the ear canal is blocked and cannot receive the sound waves as well. This can be treated by simply having your
doctor remove the impacted earwax (HealthinAging,

Rebekka And Goblin Alternate Ending
"Aaah!" a scream rang through the house. Eleven–year–old Rebekka raced down the stairs to see what was going on. There, on the counter, sat a
goblin. This goblin was grey and small and ugly. You could see huge boogers up its nose and earwax pouring out of its ears. Rebekka raced over to
where they kept the kitchen knives and stabbed the goblin through its stomach. The goblin gave one last, long scream and then dissolved. Rebekka
then sat down at the kitchen table. Suddenly, she heard a whoosh and a pop. She turned around and saw a fairy standing in the kitchen. Not the kind
of fairy that you would imagine, like Tinkerbell or something. She was just as tall as a regular human and had long, black, feathery wings draping

the wind stopped, and she could feel her feet touching the ground. Rebekka looked around her. They were in front of a dark, black castle. Marya
handed her a sword and said, "I cannot go in with you. You must fight alone." "Why should I?" "Do not ask questions. It is of big importance and
might save the land." So Rebekka went inside. Inside the castle was a big, smelly monster. Beside it was what looked like a pile of smelly laundry.
The monster growled and ran at Rebekka. Rebekka stood there and slashed with her sword. The monster screamed in agony. It fell to the floor, where
Rebekka then finished it off. She went outside and looked at Marya. "It's dead." Marya then said, "Oh good," rushed inside, and came out with the

Treatments For Tinnitus
There is no cure for tinnitus, but there are some things that can be done to manage it. If your tinnitus is caused by the buildup of earwax, then
removing the earwax can help alleviate the sudden ringing in ear. Earwax can be removed by flushing the ear out with warm water. It can also be
removed with a device called a curette.
There are also some medications that can be used to reduce the tinnitus symptoms. Valium, which is an anti–anxiety medication, can be used to treat
tinnitus. Alprazolam, which is another medication, can also reduce tinnitus symptoms.
White noise machines can also be beneficial for people who suffer from tinnitus. These machines create environmental sounds, such as ocean waves
and falling rain. Additionally, if a person suffers from noise–induced tinnitus, then hearing aids can also be

I.Pugs are one of the oldest breeds of dogs, dating back prior to 400 BC. It was the pet of the Buddhist Monestaries in Tibet, and was a favorite dog of
the Royalty in Europe according to the AKC.

C.Reward your dog for a job well done.
Transition: I have explained how to clean a pug's ears and wrinkles, now let me tell you why it is so important.
III.Why is regular ear and wrinkle cleaning so important?
A.According to author Maija Harrington, because a pug's snout is so pushed back it takes up a lot of headspace so their ear canals are narrower and
more crooked. Thus, they cannot get proper ventilation and moisture accumulates and bacteria and yeast thrives.
B.Without proper ear cleaning, pugs are high risk for ear infections and without proper care not only will they be in pain but your veterinary bills will
grow.
C.Pug's facial wrinkles can accumulate food particles and other debris which can lead to infection and pain for your pug. Their faces can swell, sores
can develop and a foul odor may eminate. Once again, you could face mounting veterinary bills.
Conclusion
I.Summarize: Today I have gone over a brief history of pugs and provided you will the information you will need to keep your pug's ears and wrinkles

Earwax Essay
First I just want to state that I was drawn to this topic because my dog has a really bad ear infection right now and he is on antibiotics. I, also used
to suffer from really bad infections caused by cleaning my ears out too much. I used to be really anal about having anything in my ear and I wanted
my ears to be perfectly clean. I remember my mom used to tell me that you should have a little bit of wax because it's healthy and it wasn't until
having five or six really bad ear infections that I stopped using Q–tips and putting anything into my ear to dig out wax. I say all that to say this, in the
article Here's how earwax might clean ears it says that the earwax protects the ear canal from the buildup of debris and dust and that when that debris
and dust get stuck in the earwax what will happen is the natural movements of your jaw for example when eating will trigger that earwax that has
been mixed with the debris and particles to crumble out of your ear naturally, cleaning your ear and taking all of the debris and dust with it.... Show

This article only reinforces what I had earlier read that earwax is meant to collect dirt and dust and other particles from getting deeper into your
ear canal. We all have earwax for a reason and we should naturally, at least as much as possible let the earwax come out of our ears and not put
anything into our ears to force the earwax out. Everyday activities like eating and talking will push old earwax to the opening of your ear where it
will then form a crust and if you take a shower or bath and wash your face or you put water on your face or your ears the flakes that are on the
perimeter of your ear from the earwax pushing further out with the debris will naturally wash off, that is if you don't compact the earwax by pushing
wax further into the canal by using

Tinnitus
When a person has conditions such as, age related hearing loss, an ear infections or even a brain tumors, tinnitus is one of the symptom they might
experience. According to the Mayo Clinic (2013) tinnitus is the sensation of a phantom noise when no external noise is present. Though tinnitus can be
a condition on its own, more often than not, it is a symptom of a more serious underlying condition. The phantom noises' of tinnitus can be herd as,
ringing buzzing roaring, clicking, or hissing depending on the origin and type. There are two forms of tinnitus, first being subjective and second being
objective. When a person experiences subjective tinnitus he/she is the only person able to hear the sound, on the other hand objective tinnitus ... Show
more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Subjective tinnitus requires the use of audio testing to diagnose the condition since, the only person who is sure that a sound is present is the patient.
The most common test used to determine the severity level of a person's tinnitus is an audiogram (Mayo 2013).
Some problems that can occur in the ear that cause subjective tinnitus are; excessive buildup of earwax, temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), or
damage to any portion of the ear structure (Mayo 2013). A few more serius conditios that can cause tinnitus are; Acoustic neuroma, a noncancerous
tumor on the auditory nerve near the inner ear ( Blahd & O'Conner, 2014), Labyrinthitis, an inflammation of the inner ear ( Poiner & Lindholm, 2014),
and MГ©niГЁre's disease, a disorder of the inner ear that affects hearing and balance ( Poiner & Lindholm, 2014). Objective tinnitus can be easily
explained since it is audible to others, and often caused by a physical event in or around the ear. But it is unclear exactly how and why subjective
tinnitus begins and continues. The National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders (NIDCD, 2014) stated that scientist have not
been able to agree upon what is causes the brain to create the sensation, but many scientist have concluded that tinnitus is similar to chronic pain
syndrome, a condition where a person still experiences pain long

Diplacusis Research Paper

  • 1. Diplacusis Research Paper What is Diplacusis? Typically our brain will distinguish a note as one sound, but there is a form of hearing loss that can cause some people to hear sounds differently, at two different pitches. This troubling condition is known as diplacusis, and it's when a person perceives a single auditory stimulus as two separate sounds. So instead of hearing just one sound, there is a dissonance in the timing or pitch of a sound and a person often hears the correct pitch in one ear, while the other ear detects the pitch as being either higher (sharp) or lower (flat). This abnormal perception is also known as "double–hearing", so it should come to no surprise that many people find this condition to be disconcerting. Diplacusis can occur suddenly or it can gradually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, one ear hears sounds at a different timing or pitch than the other ear. Diplacusis monauralis – In this form, one ear hears the same tone as two different sounds. There is no echo, instead sounds are perceived as different pitches or as a distortion. One ear hears the correct pitch, while the other ear hears the sound either lower or higher than the true pitch. Treatment for diplacusis varies depending on the underlying cause. When diplacusis is from an obstruction or ear infection, your hearing may return to normal once the condition is treated. However, if your diplacusis is not caused by conductive hearing loss the condition is likely to be permanent. Luckily, for some of these patients listening devices such as hearing aids and cochlear implants may be the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Speech On Dog Grooming Wouldn't it be great if you didn't have to pay to get your dog groomed? Whether you have a short–haired dog or a long–haired dog, there are some basics you need to follow when doing at–home dog grooming. I'll give you basic all breed dog grooming tips so you can save money and time by learning how to groom your dog at home. Then I'll teach you specifics for short coat and long coat dogs. So, here we go. All Breed Dog Grooming Tip #1 – Handling and Preparation No doubt, it's cheaper to do at home dog grooming than it is to go to a groomer. Here are the fundamentals. First, in order for your dog not to bolt out of the tub, he needs to understand and obey the stand, sit and stay commands. And hopefully you've been handling your dog since he's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Flimsy clippers break too easily. As for the muzzle, your dog may mouth you the first few times before he gets used to the process. It's best to have started clipping your dog's nails when he was a pup. But if it's too late, start playing with your dog's feet gently so that he's not terrified when you try to use the clippers. For the first few times you clip his nails, only trim a tiny bit of nail off so he gets used to the process. Try to trim his nails every six to ten weeks. If your dog goes outside a lot, the pavement actually keeps the nails at a decent length. But if your dog stays indoors, you'll have to clip them every 4 to six weeks. DO NOT cut into the live part of the nail. Your dog will be in agony! The live part is wear you see the nail starting to turn pink. Also you can tell the live part by the differing texture and color of his nails. Don't forget to trim the pointed end of the declaw (that's the dog's thumb). When in doubt, you can always ask your vet or groomer to show you how to trim your dog's nails. All Breed Dog Grooming Tip #6 – Smooth Coats and Short ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analgesima Essay Analgesics Pain control is essential to quality patient care. Otitis externa can be quite painful, and patients frequently request analgesics. These agents ensure patient comfort and may have sedating properties. Inexpensive, simple non steroidal anti–inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) reduce inflammation and irritation and can be paired with opiates to improve pain symptoms. In some cases, systemic analgesics are helpful before ear cleaning or wick placement (27,20). Oral and intravenous antibiotics Most persons with OE do not require oral medications. Oral antibiotics are generally reserved for patients with fever, immunosuppression, diabetes, adenopathy, or an infection extending outside the ear canal. They should be given to individuals with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Occasionally an abscess forms in the ear canal; this usually occurs in cases of OE caused by S. aureus (6). Treatment of the abscess is often accomplished by means of a simple incision and drainage procedure using a needle or a small blade. Long term monitoring For a patient of OE with debris, a suctioning of the EAC on a weekly basis is required until debris has been removed. Patients must be monitored to ensure complete resolution of OE. Even in mild cases, follow–up is important for evaluating the response to treatment. A follow–up visit 1 week after starting treatment is usually adequate (3). (d) Prognosis Most incidents of OE resolve without difficulty. The majority of patients improve within 48–72 hours of antibiotic administration. Failure to improve within 2–3 days should call the diagnosis into question and prompt the physician to reevaluate the patient. Otitis externa usually resolves fully in 7–10 days (3). Resolution of eczematoid OE occurs with control of the primary skin condition. In some patients, OE can cause severe otalgia necessitating administration of narcotic pain relievers. Pain usually improves 2–5 days after initiating therapy (27). Temporary hearing loss is common secondary to canal occlusion. Severe infections may cause cellulitis or lymphadenitis of the face or neck. If left untreated, the infection may invade the deeper adjacent structures and progress to necrotizing (malignant) ... • 4. Explain The Key Features Of Hearing Testing Key Features of Hearing Testing Are you looking for an auditory center? Such centers provide various services but one of the most critical ones is hearing testing. When weighing different centers here are some of the most important factors to take up: 1. Questionnaire Hearing centers often have some sort of questionnaire that patients must complete. This requires you to share information about environments you might have been in that could have caused hearing loss. This will allow the center to more quickly determine the possible cause of hearing issues. This part of your visit is critical as it will provide some critical details for the center's staff to diagnose what could have caused hearing problems. There are other parts of the testing ... • 5. Ear Pain Research Paper Ear pain can be in or near the inner ear or distant such as referred pain from a distant site. Ear pain is referred to as Otalgia. Inner ear pain known as otitis media occurs when infected fluid is present in the middle ear of the affected ear. This is frequently related to symptoms form a virus or by a bacterial infection. In contrast, the outer ear pain is outside or externa to the tympanic membrane. This is otitis externa. It may be caused by a foreign object, earwax, and even mastoiditis. Acute otitis media however is the most common cause of adult and pediatric ear pain (Sullivan, 2016). The first assessment is thorough history and physical exam. A thorough history should include the symptoms or events leading to the pain. A complete ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Physics of the Ear Essay examples Physics of the Ear The ear is an extraordinary human organ that many people take for granted until it doesn't function. It is the only device that allows the human to hear sounds in their environment. The ear is made up of many parts that distinguish various sounds through different means. The ear anatomy and physiology along with how sound waves are transmitted into meaningful sounds will help one understand how hearing loss occurs. The ear is made up of three areas: the outer, middle, and inner ear. The outer ear is very important for collecting sound waves. It is made up of the pinna and the ear canal. The pinna, the actual physical outward appearance of the ear, receives sound waves and begins to funnel them into the ear canal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Basically how sound travels through the ear is a process of many steps. The sound waves are gathered by the pinna and then funneled into the meatus. Those waves then begin to vibrate the tympanic membrane which in turn hits against the malleus. The ossicle bones then vibrate like a chain reaction. The footplate will hit the oval window which triggers the fluid in the cochlea to move. The movement sways across the different hair cells creating impulses that are sent to the brain through the eighth cranial nerve. The interesting question is how waves can become meaningful sounds. First off we must know that sound is a wave. It is impossible for sound to be a particle or atom because if it was a particle the two different sounds would eventually collide and if sound was an atom one sound would deflect another and neither one of these situations ever happens. A characteristic of sound is that different sounds pass through one another, for example, a sound and its echo. Therefore, it is safe to conclude that sound is a form of wave. Sound is molecules vibrating back and forth creating what we call a longitudinal wave. However, very few times do we consider sound as flow of power yet that is exactly what it is. It is a power that flows through the air steadily. The speed at which it travels depends on the temperature and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many different types of hygiene and different ways of doing them. The types of hygiene are food and cooking hygiene, medical hygiene, and personal hygiene, there is even such a thing as excessive hygiene. Excessive hygiene may cause allergic diseases. The history of personal hygiene goes back centuries even millenniums. Some cultures performed personal hygiene for religious purposes such as the Hindu's. They believed that if you did not bath that it was a sin. They were based on ritual purity and were not informed by an understanding of the causes of diseases and their means of transmission. Regular bathing was a trademark of Roman civilization. They constructed elaborate baths in urban areas to serve the public. They baths were like very large swimming pools. Their entire bathing building consisted of a variety of bathing choices. First the large swimming pool like baths. Then smaller cold and hot pools, and saunas, and spa–like facilities where people could be oiled and massaged. The water was constantly changed by and aqueduct system. The Romans also had an elaborate sewage system called Cloaca Maxima. The Romans didn't have a flushing toilet either, but most of them had running water right under them. Until the late 19th Century, only the best in Western cities typically had indoor facilities for relieving waste. The poorer majority used community facilities built above cesspools in backyards and courtyards. This changed after Dr. John Snow discovered that cholera was transmitted by the fecal contamination of water. • 9. Auditory System Essay The world contains all kinds of energy that translates into information about what we see, hear, smell, touch and taste. A sensory system is a part of the nervous system responsible for processing specific sensory information. The components of a sensory system include sensory receptors, neural pathways, and parts of the brain involved in sensory perception. To begin, energy from the environment stimulates the receptor cells in whichever sense organ is being used. If this information were auditory, the ear would convert sound waves in the air into electrical impulses that would further be interpreted by the brain as sound. A sound wave first enters the pinna, the fleshy part of the ear on the outside of the body. It then travels through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The movements of the membranes then send the vibrations down the scala tympani. A structure called the Organ of Corti, which is situated on the basilar membrane, becomes stimulated as the membrane vibrates and sends nerve impulses to the brain. Within the Organ of Corti are a group of specialized cells called hair cells, which are covered by the tectorial membrane. As the basilar membrane vibrates, the hair cells are bents and push up against the tectorial membrane. This causes the hair cells to fire and send nerve impulses to the auditory cortex on each of the brains hemispheres through the cochlear nerve. How we determine pitch can be explained with two different theories. The Place Theory states that the entire basilar membrane does not vibrate at once so different parts of the basilar membrane respond to different frequencies of sound. Lower frequency sounds vibrate the basilar membrane near the apex of the cochlea while higher frequency sounds produce vibrations closer to the base. The Frequency Theory states that the frequency of firing matches the frequency of the sound wave. Hearing loss can occur for a number of reasons. Damage to the eardrum due to age and prolonged exposure to loud noise may cause the hairs or nerve cells in the cochlea to wear out and become less effective. A buildup of earwax can block the ear canal and prevent of sound waves from entering the eardrum. Otosclerosis, a genetic form of hearing loss in which the stapes is fixed ... • 10. Individuals With Down Syndrome Due to the nature of the condition, individuals with Down syndrome face a bountiful array of difficulties with language and communication. Down syndrome occurs due to an extra copy of the twenty–first chromosome causing intellectual and developmental delays as well as abnormal physical characteristics. With the highly complex nature of human speech, these physical characteristics of individuals with Down syndrome cause many challenges in accomplishing clear and audible communication. The following paper will discuss specifically the articulation and auditory challenges that individuals with Down syndrome face during speech. Articulation is an integral part of the speech system. It is the process by which words and sounds are formed when the lips, tongue, jaw, teeth, and palate adjust the air coming from the vocal folds (OSLA 2010). This process is hindered in Down syndrome individuals because of a number of different facial problems. Some of these differences include a smaller oral cavity with a relatively large tongue, a narrow, high arching palate and abnormal bone growth in the oral structures (Martin, Klusek, Estigarribia, Roberts 2009). Frequently, missing or additional facial muscles contribute to these speech and articulations difficulties, limiting the movement of the lips. Several... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you have too much wax in your ears, for example, then simply removing the earwax should stop the sounds. Thus, the secret to choose an effective treatment lies in establishing the correct diagnosis for your condition. Available Tinnitus treatments: 1.Conventional treatments Medications Prescription medications are being used as possible relief agents for tinnitus. They include antidepressants, anti–convulsants, anti–histamines even anesthetics such as Lidocaine and more. Some of these drugs can help patients to ease the symptoms of their tinnitus. Unfortunately, in most of the cases, the benefits are temporary. Surgery One of the treatments for tinnitus is surgery. Although it can be effective,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The attention of the brain is drawn towards this background sound in such a way that the ear ringing is still there but can barely be heard because of the background noise. Neuromonic treatment This is a new sophisticated system. This treatment makes use of a small device with headphones. The device creates a sound which is unique to each patient. The sound contains pleasant music. According to this method, your brain learns a new way of interpreting sound. I personally use this homemade whitening paste, but only once or twice a month. If you have very bad stains on your teeth, you could use it initially, once a week until you notice an improvement. More often, however, and the baking soda could break down the enamel over time, causing sensitivity. And of course, make sure to maintain your regular oral care regimen. Remove earwax
  • 13. All humans and other mammals have earwax. It consists of shed skin cells, hair, and the secretions from glands of the outside ear canal. Although gross, it serves its purpose. Namely, protecting the ear canal against bacteria, fungi and water. But, too much earwax and your ears may feel full, affecting your hearing. Although, most experts agree that removing earwax is not entirely necessary, you may still want to clean your ears time and again. The problem is, rooting around your ear canal with a Q–tip can actually push wax further inside. So, instead of cleaning your ear out, the wax gets stuck. As a result, wax builds up on top of it, creating a dangerous blockage or "impaction," according to NYU ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Descriptive Essay About Shrek Shrek is the king of animated characters. No other character has the charm, and physic that he has. Shrek rules the cartoon land with his earwax candles and his sidekick donkey. Just imagine, you walk into a room one day, and there sitting in a chair is none other than Shrek. I believe if I ever had the chance to meet him it would go a little something like this. When he walks into a room, the first thing you notice is his mustard, yellow smile. Personal Health : 9 Hygiene Practices Personal Health: 9 Hygiene Practices to Remember We go about our daily lives adhering to standard practices of hygiene: brushing our teeth, washing our faces, shampooing our hair, you get the drill. But we've forgotten about the not–so–habitual "other" practices that doctors continuously recommend us to do each day. Although these nine hygienic procedures take additional time, it is important to incorporate them into your weekly and monthly routines so that they do eventually become habitual. After all, it's important to be proactive rather than reactive when it comes to sustaining a healthy lifestyle. Nine: Cleaning your ears. (stuffwetalkabout.com) Have you ever looked at your headphones to find the speakers covered in earwax? As a result, you reach for a cotton swab to rid your ears of that waxy yellow gunk. However, cotton swabs actually push earwax deeper into your ear canal leading to a buildup. Instead, opt for an over–the–counter earwax removal solution, like Murine or Debrox, to loosen the wax and ultimately break down the buildup. You'll be hearing better in no time. Eight: Sleep without underwear. (i.ytimg.com) Sleeping without underwear allows men and women's crotch area to breathe after many hours of wearing underwear and boxers and locking in moisture. Allowing this area to dry out is a great health measure recommended by gynecologists. Seven: Change bed sheets once a week. (butterbeliever.com) Rolling around in bed each night, our bodily oils, ... • 17. Tinnitus: Ear and Identified Underlying Cause Essay Introduction to Tinnitus Tinnitus (TIN–i–tus) is noise or ringing in the ears. A common problem, tinnitus affects about 1 in 5 people. Tinnitus isn't a condition itself– it's a symptom of an underlying condition, such as age–related hearing loss, ear injury or a circulatory system disorder. Although bothersome, tinnitus usually isn't a sign of something serious. Although it can worsen with age, for many people, tinnitus can improve with treatment. Treating an identified underlying cause sometimes helps. Other treatments reduce or mask the noise, making tinnitus less noticeable. This type of tinnitus is called pulsatile tinnitus. Causes include: В·Head and neck tumors. A tumor that presses on blood vessels in your head or neck (vascular neoplasm) can cause tinnitus and other symptoms. В·Atherosclerosis. With age and buildup of cholesterol and other deposits, major blood vessels close to your middle and inner ear lose some of their elasticity – the ability to flex or expand slightly with each heartbeat. That causes blood flow to become more forceful and sometimes more turbulent, making it easier for your ear to detect the beats. You can generally hear this type of tinnitus in both ears. В·High blood pressure. Hypertension and factors that increase blood pressure, such as stress, alcohol and caffeine, can make tinnitus more noticeable. В·Turbulent blood flow. Narrowing or kinking in a neck artery (carotid artery) or vein in your neck (jugular vein) can cause turbulent blood flow, leading to tinnitus. В·Malformation of capillaries. First, using an ear–pick is eco–friendly. Some people might say making ear–picks also can cause destruction of ecosystem. That might be true, but I think making swabs destroys much more trees and making ear–picks is needed just a few trees compared to making swabs. In order to make swabs, a lot of trees have to be cut down and a lot of cotton is used carelessly. However, if we have ear–picks, we might be able to save a lot of trees and cotton might be used for better purposes. As long as you do not lose your ear–pick, it will stay with you forever. Additionally, after using it, you can easily wash it. Second, it is cheaper than one pack of swabs. For example, if you bought one pack that has 100 swabs, you could use 200 times because cotton is on both sides. However if you had an ear–pick, you could use it more than 200 times. Fresh air is free offer due to saving trees. Third, you feel cleaner by using an ear–pick. Swabs cannot clean your earhole perfectly, and using swabs is like wiping and using an ear–pick is like scraping. • 39. 3.8.4.1 Otoscopic Exam 3.8.4.1 Otoscopic Examination The purpose of this otoscopic examination was to observe any outer or middle problem from visual inspection and eliminates subjects who have any. On the day of testing, otoscopic examination was conducted using WelchAllyn otoscope to ensure the external ear canal is cleared from occlusion of earwax and has intact tympanic membrane. In addition, collapsing ear canal was checked to avoid artificial conductive loss. To check the collapsing ear canal, first, do visual inspection on ear canal opening to see the narrowness of ear canal, then, put on light pressure on pinna mimicking the headphone cushion will do to see whether ear canal walls meet or not. 3.8.4.2 Tympanometry Test GSI TympStar was used to monitor the function of middle ear system. This test was done to detect any presence of middle ear pathology based on the middle ear compliance. The value from ear canal volume, middle ear pressure and middle ear compliance will reflect on condition of middle ear system. The normative values for tympanometry test (Type A) were as below: Ear Canal VolumeMiddle Ear PressureMiddle ear Compliance Adult0.9 – 2.0 cm3В± 50 daPa0.3 – 1.7 ml Only subject that has Type A tympanogram... • 41. Earwax Essay First I just want to state that I was drawn to this topic because my dog has a really bad ear infection right now and he is on antibiotics. I, also used to suffer from really bad infections caused by cleaning my ears out too much. I used to be really anal about having anything in my ear and I wanted my ears to be perfectly clean. I remember my mom used to tell me that you should have a little bit of wax because it's healthy and it wasn't until having five or six really bad ear infections that I stopped using Q–tips and putting anything into my ear to dig out wax. I say all that to say this, in the article Here's how earwax might clean ears it says that the earwax protects the ear canal from the buildup of debris and dust and that when that debris and dust get stuck in the earwax what will happen is the natural movements of your jaw for example when eating will trigger that earwax that has been mixed with the debris and particles to crumble out of your ear naturally, cleaning your ear and taking all of the debris and dust with it.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This article only reinforces what I had earlier read that earwax is meant to collect dirt and dust and other particles from getting deeper into your ear canal. We all have earwax for a reason and we should naturally, at least as much as possible let the earwax come out of our ears and not put anything into our ears to force the earwax out. Everyday activities like eating and talking will push old earwax to the opening of your ear where it will then form a crust and if you take a shower or bath and wash your face or you put water on your face or your ears the flakes that are on the perimeter of your ear from the earwax pushing further out with the debris will naturally wash off, that is if you don't compact the earwax by pushing wax further into the canal by using ... The phantom noises' of tinnitus can be herd as, ringing buzzing roaring, clicking, or hissing depending on the origin and type. Subjective tinnitus requires the use of audio testing to diagnose the condition since, the only person who is sure that a sound is present is the patient. The most common test used to determine the severity level of a person's tinnitus is an audiogram (Mayo 2013). Some problems that can occur in the ear that cause subjective tinnitus are; excessive buildup of earwax, temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), or damage to any portion of the ear structure (Mayo 2013). A few more serius conditios that can cause tinnitus are; Acoustic neuroma, a noncancerous tumor on the auditory nerve near the inner ear ( Blahd & O'Conner, 2014), Labyrinthitis, an inflammation of the inner ear ( Poiner & Lindholm, 2014), and MГ©niГЁre's disease, a disorder of the inner ear that affects hearing and balance ( Poiner & Lindholm, 2014). Objective tinnitus can be easily explained since it is audible to others, and often caused by a physical event in or around the ear. But it is unclear exactly how and why subjective tinnitus begins and continues. The National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders (NIDCD, 2014) stated that scientist have not been able to agree upon what is causes the brain to create the sensation, but many scientist have concluded that tinnitus is similar to chronic pain syndrome, a condition where a person still experiences pain long ...
