Dr. Shanta Rajapaksha Yapa is the Chief Commercial Officer of Avonet Technologies and counts over 35
years of experience in progressive positions in diverse industry sectors of engineering, manufacturing,
banking, and ICT. He has also been a visiting faculty member of 20 local and
international universities in Sri Lanka for 20 years. In addition, He has served
as a visiting resource person of AITE of the Asian Institute of Technology,
Thailand in their regional executive development programs between 2008 and
2015. Dr. Yapa has been a senior lecturer of the Cardiff Metropolitan
University programs in Sri Lanka through the partner university, ICBT from the

Dr. Yapa began his career with his first formal qualification, NDT in mechanical
(automobile) engineering. He completed his MBA at the Postgraduate
Institute of Management of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and M Sc
from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa. He obtained his PhD from the University of
Colombo. In addition, he has followed many certifications in industrial engineering, energy engineering,
inventing and patenting, innovation management, banking, project appraisal and development
economics. He is a Certified Innovation Manager and also holds memberships of several professional
institutions in engineering, IT and marketing.
He served as an executive council member of the Software Chapter of the Federation of IT Industry Sri
Lanka from 2008 to 2019 and acted as the President of the Software Chapter from 2013 to 2015. He also
represented Sri Lanka in the executive council of the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance for several years. Dr Yapa is
currently a director of the ICT Industry Skills Council of Sri Lanka.

He was a member of the standing committee for computing of the University Grants Commission of Sri
Lanka from 2010 to 2018. He has also served as a member of the advisory boards of University of
Moratuwa, SLIIT Computing and Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Studies.
Dr. Yapa authored the book Rising in Crisis – Survival & Growth Strategies for Entrepreneurs and Managers
in 2020. The book offers several brand-new tools including the R Hexagon which is a novel strategy making
and testing tool. He is a certified reviewer and works for editorial boards of 4 international peer reviewed
journals including International Business Research published by the Canadian Center of Science &

He has a passion of reading, researching and teaching the subject areas of technology, innovation and
