Shannah Hall Franckum has extensive experience in real estate development and management in the Greater Boston region, serving as principal at Cambridge Real Estate Company, LLC, since 2002. An alumnus of Fordham University, Shannah Hall Franckum continues to draw inspiration from the school’s tradition of giving back to its community. Fordham, situated on an expansive campus in the Bronx, New York, traces its origins back to the 1840s. At that time, the school was led by a Jesuit group, setting it on track not only in terms of academic programming, but in its focus on fostering a commitment to philanthropy and public service in its students. Today, as a vibrant, multicultural, and multi-faith university, Fordham has developed world-renowned schools of social work, law, and other disciplines. Notable among Fordham’s recent achievements is the opening of the Center for Community-Engaged Learning (CCEL), structured as part of the Dorothy Day Center for Service and Justice and Global Outreach. The CCEL brings together students with Fordham partners focused on global and neighborhood projects and ties community-based social service work with outstanding programs of study and research. The CCEL blog details current and future activities and also serves to connect students with community leadership programs. One of the most important of these initiatives recruited students as virtual tutors for high school students affected by the pandemic lockdown in New York.
