CONCEPT 1: 
‘COMFIRMATION BIAS’
COMFIRMATION BIAS 
• only pays attention to information that go with their 
belief and disregard those that doesn’t.
COMFIRMATION BIAS STUDENT 
• The student refuse to accept the lecturer’s advice 
• Because the student only want to hear when the lecturer 
praise her model
COMFIRMATION BIAS LECTURER 
• The lecturer refuse to listen to the student explanation 
• Because this does not contradict to what he expect
CONCEPT 2: 
‘First Impression’
FIRST IMPRESSION 
• One’s impression towards others upon meeting the first 
time. 
• It is not deliberate, and happened almost instantaneously 
after only 0.1 seconds. 
• They are formed by just watching others purely, and not 
by watching their actions.
FIRST IMPRESSION STUDENT 
• The primacy effect means the first information you receive 
about a person has the most impact on how you will 
remember them 
• The student think that they cannot depends on the lecturer 
because of his unappealing attire
FIRST IMPRESSION LECTURER 
• The lecturer took a glance and formed her first impression 
towards the new students 
• She keeps the thought to herself without saying it out
CONCEPT 3: 
‘Non verbal cues’
NON-VERBAL CUES 
• The behaviours, gestures and expressions conveying 
one’s thought without any words spoken 
• A type of emotional expression
FIRST IMPRESSION STUDENT 
• body gestures are non-verbal cues involving actions and 
movements to convey the meaning without words 
• When the lecturer giving assignment, the students began to 
make different body gesture showing their thought
FIRST IMPRESSION LECTURER 
• The lecturer showing different facial expression during 
student’s presentation 
• Shocking, Approve, Disgust,
CONCEPT 4: 
‘Impression Management’
IMPRESSION MANAGEMENT 
• The ways to influence how others think of someone 
or something or towards oneself. 
• This process can happen consciously or in 
subconscious.
IMPRESSION MANAGEMENT LECTURER 
• The spotlight effect is when one thinks that everything about 
themselves is obvious to others, like their thoughts, behaviour, 
appearance and more. 
• The lecturer thought the students will be impress with his new 
iPhone 6 
• The lecturer tend to believe that his iPhone6 is noticed more 
than it really is
IMPRESSION MANAGEMENT STUDENT 
• Ingratiation is when one impress another by flattering them. 
• The student attempts to become more likeable by his 
lecturer through helping the lecturer
CONCEPT 5: 
‘STEREOTYPE’
STEREOTYPE 
• An overly generalized belief about a particular group 
of people. 
• Stereotype can be distinguished into 3 sub concepts, 
which is racism, sexism, and ageism
STEREOTYPE LECTURER 
• The lecturer shows stereotype towards the student 
• He insult the new student’s nationality
STEREOTYPE STUDENT 
• The student shows sexism towards the opposite gender 
• Both genders had pointed out the negativities of the other gender
