This document discusses NATO's partnerships with countries around the world to pursue cooperative security. It outlines NATO's 41 partner countries in Europe, the Mediterranean, Gulf region and elsewhere. The goals of partnership include promoting security, democratic values and NATO-led operations. Partner countries are represented in NATO meetings and summits. The Istanbul Cooperation Initiative launched in 2004 to enhance cooperation with Gulf countries, with Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and UAE joining in 2005. early warning, with a view to preventing crises;
– Build confidence and achieve better mutual understanding,
including about NATO’s role and activities, in particular though
enhanced public diplomacy.
