The East Jefferson General Hospital Center for Nursing Knowledge & Research is hosting its 3rd Annual Caring for the Client with Psychiatric Issues continuing education event on December 9, 2010. The event will address topics such as sexual abuse, community resources for victims, psychiatric issues in Louisiana, and genetics research related to schizophrenia. It will be held at the East Jefferson General Hospital Crawford Conference Center and is open to nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals for 5 contact hours of approved continuing education. Registration costs $50 and attendees must remain for the entire program to receive credit.

psychiatric issues.

relation to caring for psychiatric patients.

impact of schizophrenia.
. Identify challenges in finding schizophrenia
susceptibility genes.
. Explain the implications of genetic research for the
care of people with schizophrenia.
