These are evident with polarized light. Alcian blue staining was negative for acid mucopolysaccharide with the spaces.

9. The specimen consists of soft tissue with diffuse fibrosis, a mild lymphocytic infiltrate, and numerous giant cells. These giant cells are often adjacent or incorporating a small foreign body. These are evident with polarized light. Alcian blue staining was negative for acid mucopolysaccharide with the spaces.
