The Marx Brothers were five brothers from New York who found enormous success in comedy and film. The core group was made up of Chico, Harpo and Groucho Marx, each developing their own unique character. While all five brothers started performing together, the two youngest - Gummo and Zeppo - did not fully develop characters and eventually left the act to pursue other careers.

2. The five brothers were children of Samuel and Minnie Marx, who had had in 1886
their first child, Manfred, who died with seven months after the flu. The core of the
group were the three older brothers, Chico, Harpo and Groucho; each one played
a type of character.
