7. Theory of Action:
WHEN WE FOCUS on ensuring racial equity in our educational system,
unapologetically address the needs of students of color who are furthest from
educational justice, and work to undo the legacies of racism in our educational
system...
BY doing the following:
• Allocating resources strategically through a racial equity framework
• Delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction across all
abilities and a continuum of services for learners
• Creating healthy, supportive, culturally responsive environments from
the classroom to central office
• Directly and consistently working in partnership with families and
communities who represent students of color who are furthest from
educational justice; and
• Making clear commitments and delivering on them
THEN we will eliminate opportunity and achievement gaps and every student will
receive a high-quality, world-class education.
8. Panel Question

practices from both, an
operational and policy standpoint

Editor's Notes
Welcome
Purpose: Share the focus of the new strategic plan; key initiatives for year; make personal connections; AND celebrate our colleagues
Ask new cabinet members to introduce themselves?
Last spring we launched a bold new strategic plan, one that is laser focused on supporting students of color, who are furthest away from educational justice.
While we will continue to do great work for all students; in order to achieve our vision and mission we MUST create the right learning conditions for students we have and continue to underserve.
We believe that by unapologetically addressing the needs of students who are furthest away from educational justice BEGINNING with African American boys and young men and actively work to undo the legacies of racism we will eliminate opportunity gaps and EVERY student will have a shot at a high quality, world class education.
Our strategic plan is focused around 4 priorities; you can read the entire plan online.
And this year we are focused on 4 initiatives Today, we will talk about 3 – 3rd grade reading, safe and welcoming environments, and culturally responsive practice.
To ensure all of our students can read – WE must attend to the learning conditions. Success of these initiatives are interdependent and require the support of everyone in this room.
As you are listening, you received a commitment card – jot down how your work integrates or could support. Stretch yourself to find a place in the work.
